He’s still not eating (at least very little) and has very very small poops after 1 week.
Back tomorrow to the vet.
Funny thing with him – he still runs and flops and does tooth purrs…what a funny rabbit that he does not feel sick. He’s lost about 2 pounds in a month too although he’s slowing gaining it back but not really fast enough.
The vet doesn’t even want to do a molar trim at all until he gains weight.
Poor Pepe *sending hugs, kisses & healing vibes*
*snuggle vibes for Pepe* Get better Pepe!
Oh, Pepe.

I hope that Pepe is feeling better soon! Me and all the beens are sending {{{{{{{healing vibes}}}}}}}}}} Pepe’s way.
aw no! poor pepe. ((((vibes))))
Sarita: tell Pepe that myself and Lint send healing vibes! Lint still toothpurrs also even when he has gas pains. I have read in one of the GI articles that running/moving is really really helpful to get a bunny’s gut moving so I am glad to hear Pepe is on the move and not feeling too sick to be running. Do you give him massages?
Oh sweet little Pepe, get better soon!
{{{{{{{{vibes for Pepe}}}}}}}}}}}
Thank you for the vibes. He’s back this morning at the vet’s (feel bad to do this but he needs to start eating). Petzy, the vet says it’s a blockage so it’s more of a gut motility issue than gas. I understand too that running and activity is good and he’s been running from me quite a bit. He did gag a bit on the Benebac this morning which concerned me. Hopefully continued fluids and the gut motility drugs will get his gut moving again.
I am going to have to figure out what his problem is as far as the stasis is too – need to talk to the vet about what my plan should be once we get his gut moving again.
Oh, the poor bun. Velvet, Ruby and I send ((((((healing vibes))))))) for Pepe.
Vibes for Pepe!
All 10 of my critters & I are sending healing vibes & hugs.
{{{{{{{Lots of Healing Vibes for Pepe}}}}}}}}}}} Hope he’s feeling a lot lot better!
Pepe is having a sonogram today. His liver enzymes and liver values were extremely high so the vet wants to see if there is anything on the liver that is affecting this or if it could be something else and we’ll go from there.
Also my Twizzler is having a procedure as well today – please send her vibes as well.
Pepe and Twizzler were at the vets overnight too. I dropped off veggies this morning and they said that Pepe was doing fine.
Twizzler’s mate Toffee escaped her pen yesterday too and pooped everywhere but it was okay, I cleaned it up. She was back in the pen when I got home. Little brat – she probably wonders where the heck Twizzer is.
Awww, feel better soon, Pepe! ((((((((Healing Vibes))))))))))
I’m glad Pepe was doing OK this morning. *sends more hugs & vibes*
What’s Twizzer in for? Great name BTW *sends vibes for Twizzler too*
*sends hugs for lonesome Toffee*
Twizzler had some kind of weird red skin tag that was coming out of her rectum (sorry it’s kind of yuck) so the vet snipped it and is sending it out for a biopsy and she also did a bladder flush for her bladder sludge and cleaned her up.
She said that the sonogram for Pepe is scheduled at 4pm and we’ll have an initial analysis but that it is sent to a specialist for examination which they should have in 24 to 48 hours.
Will anybun be released today or do they have to stay?
Is Pepe eating any better/more?
I know Twizzler will be released. Hopefully the biopsy won’t reveal anything awful but we won’t get the results back she said for 3 to 5 days.
I’m hoping Pepe too. I’m not sure how he’s eating yet. It’s possible that the liver values are out of whack because he’s lost so much weight and he hasn’t been eating so I’ll have to up the hand feeding but the vet wants to see what the sonogram says before she makes any type of recommendations. She is looking to see if there is some kind of growth or mass on the liver that could be causing the liver values to be so high. Initially they thought it might be a blockage but you cannot see it as accurately as you can with the sonogram I guess.
Good luck with the sonogram. *fingers, toes & paws crossed here*
All paws in my household are crossed! Sending lots of (((healing vibes))))!!!
Vibes from me, Chubs and Comet!

Sending extra nose rubs to Pepe, Twizzler & Toffee. And some to Maxine, who’s a good girl.
I’ve been following this thread for awhile, so I want to add my healing vibes and prayers for your bunnies too, Sarita. (((((((((((((((hugs & vibes to all bunnies))))))))). Sure seems like a lot of us are going through some scary health problems with our furbabies lately.
Hope everything comes out all right.
Thank you for all the vibes.
They are sending Pepe’s sonogram to a specialist to review. They really could not tell if there were any problems so I guess you need a specialist.
He is back this morning for fluids and feeding.
I fed him last night as well – he is getting thin. He is eating the cilantro though but still the poops are very small or flaky. I brought him to bed with me a few times last night and he did tooth purrs when I petted him and we snuggled. I promised him if he started eating he wouldn’t have to go back to the vets for awhile – I feel bad taking him every day too because I know he hates it.
Oh Sarita, so sad for you both! ((((((Healing))))))))
Poor little Pepe… vets are scary, so he must be really stressed out! I’ll bet he relaxed and felt a lot safer after some cuddles with mom. My munchkins and I are hoping that everything turns out okay on the sonogram. Feel better, Pepe, as well as Twizzler and Toffee!
Keeping you and your bunnies in my thougths and prayers, Sarita. *Hugs*
Oh dear. Poor Pepe. ((((((hugs and healing vibes))))))))
How nice to have such a lovely snuggle with him though. I have to admit, I sure wish I could allow Mimzy to cuddle in bed with me, but I know I’d wake up to a large puddle pooling at my back. ^_^ Or teeth in my rear end. 0_o
PLEASE get better Pepe! We’re all worried about you! *kissy*
*snuggles from Monkey* Get better pepe, sarita needs lots of those bedbun snuggles for many years to come
Awww poor bunnies! ((((((((((Healing vibes from me and Leroy!!!)))))))))))
awww sarita… you’re so sweet to give him extra snuggles! i bet that helps balance out the vet visits. ((((((pepe)))))) hope they can find out whats up soon & he starts to get better.
Sarita, how is Pepe doing today?
{{{{{{{{{{{{{we are thinking about you Pepe}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}
I have been listening and waiting too and feeling up to hearing some good news for you bunny bun bun
Pepe is back at the vet – it’s been all week. We are doubling up on the fluids to hopefully help the blockage get hydrated and unblock. He is peeing alot as you can imagine and there are some poops. They are also syringe feeding him. He is eating some greens though but I have to imagine he’s so full from fluids and feeding he just cannot be hungry. I did nab him and bring him to bed with me this morning and we snuggled and he sounded rested. I asked the vet about a vitamin B12 shot and we’ll see what she says.
I guess after today I’ll give him a rest from the vets and do fluids on my own and hand feeding this weekend.
I feel awful taking him every day for 2 weeks to the vet though. The vet seems hopeful though so we’ll see how he does this weekend. He looks like he doesn’t feel good when we get home because he’s so full of fluids (poor little guy) – he looks all bloated. I guess right now it’s just wait and see still. I’ll have to clean the litter box tonight since he’s peed so much so I can see if there are any fresh poops.
One of the vets did confer with a board certified vet that he knows and she said that he needs ultra hydration to soften the impaction and get it moving through the gut. It makes sense to me since just a regular amount of fluids just passes through. We are giving him 400 cc’s of fluids (that’s alot) – I usually only give 100 to 150 cc’s when I give Twizzler her fluids at any given time for her bladder. They do 200 cc’s give him a break then 200 more cc’s.
Poor guy, he has been through a lot, just like you! Maybe some quality time with his mommy and you taking care of him instead of the vet will be good. *Hugs*
Well, we have POOPS! They are just so small still. I kept him home all weekend and he’s eating his greens (still no pellets). I have been doing fluids this weekend and I think he’s happy to be home. I am going to take him in for a recheck this week – I feel like we may need to do teeth again after 2 weeks of not eating but we need to gain weight. I’m still worried about him – this happened in 2008 where it took us 2 weeks then to get his gut going. I’m hoping to totally take away those nasty pellets – he’s not eating them now anyway, but I need to get some weight on him. I feel very good to have vets who care about him too and are willing to not give up on him (like I was feeling on Wed) and even called a board certified specialist for help. Gotta love that. Now if I could get him to eat hay.
He still bites and lunges at me (yes, that is a good sign) and snuggles with me in bed so I’m taking that a sign that he wants to live.
Please continue your vibes for my sweet and naughty bunny.
(((((((tons o’ vibes from me and monkey))))))
Yea, poopies! {{{{{{{{{{Pepe, keep getting better.}}}}}}}}}}}}
Yay for poops! ^_^ *does happy dance* Small is better than none at all! I’m so glad to see this post that he seems to be doing better!
Boy, lotsa fluids…that reminds me…during my chemotherapy I always had a bag of fluids as a finisher for the treatment. Even after I stopped chemo, I went in for a few weeks just to have fluids, because my body got so used to them that without them (and I am not a big water drinker) I felt so dried out. They got almost addictive for me. Anytime I see a tree go by at the cancer center during my rechecks, I almost think it’d be worth the needle stick! Is that weird or what?
But I can imagine it’s different for bunnies. Tinier veins and access must be stressful. However, on a lighter note, his bladder must be clean as a whistle right now! 0_o
I’m just finishing off my KMS 3rd cutting 5 LB box. Won’t Pepe eat that? My bunnies have now turned their noses up at anything else! I would think that even with a system full of IV that he’d still not be able to resist that lovely hay.
Eat Pepe, poop Pepe, get better Pepe! ((((((((((((((((long distance snuggles and well-wishes for Pepe & Sarita))))))))))))))))
I think that bites and lunges are signs of affection for our rebel bunnies! I’m glad to hear he is showing some signs of improvement – that is LOT of fluid, I remember when I had to go on liquids only just for a day and it made me feel super sick, so he must not be enjoying it all that much. Hopefully he can start skipping days at the vet and get some pellets down soon…

this happened in 2008 where it took us 2 weeks then to get his gut going.
I remember that but had thought it about 7 days – but 2 weeks!! That must have been scary. Hoping he’s coming out of this quicker this time.
((((PEPE)))) Sarita, have you ever tried the 100% hay pellets? Is it his teeth issues that have him avoiding the hay?
Hi Sarita, How’s Pepe doing now?
Hi Jersey, so far so good – keeping my fingers crossed. We are going back in on Wed with Maxine to have him checked again. He has been very sociable and jumping on my bed at night for snuggles and to sleep. I’m going to work on taking him pellets totally away from him too – he’s not eating those as much anyway.
Oh good! Thanks for the update. Let’s hope he stays healthy.

Thanks for the update
Yea, Pepe!
Here’s hoping he stays healthy!
