People in this forum may remember that I bonded my friend's four rabbits recently. I have my own trio but wished for my own quartett after my friend's rabbits left bonded. In my trio Lint is the third wheel, he's also the smallest of my three, a mini rex. So my friend got me a mini rex kit on Sunday. -- I had to stretch the pet quota in my house but I am keeping him. My friend said if I couldn't she would love to have him since the quartett is more her husband's than hers.

This mini rex kit is from a decent breeder (apparently she will take back a rabbit if it ever needed a new home), my first non-rescue rabbit, and just 12 weeks old. His name is Neigey, like french for snow 'neige'-y.

He is my 'only bunny' right now... and I am loving it.

I took some photos of him in the snow. (winter is already here and my patio is basically closed for rabbits )

OMG, a pure white mini-rex with...are those BLUE eyes? 0_o I am SO jealous! He is beautiful! I'm coming to bunnap him!
"only bunny"? I'm confused.... Didn't you have others, Petzy? Besides your friends' buns I mean?
I can't get over looking at his pictures. The only Mini-rexes I've ever seen all have spots or patches of dark color on their backs, or they're all brown or grey. I've never seen an all white before.
Careful, don't lose sight of him in the snow! lolz.... (He'll be the hopping snowball.)
Lovely! ^_^ Congrats!
Mimzy, Pip & Fiver...yup...my day is all about them. :)

He's so cute. I love the pic with snow on his nose. I'm such a sucker for white bunnies.

Oh Wow! He's gorgeous - your own little bubby bunny. Hopping snowball! lol
So your friend with the quartett has given you this bun so you can have your own quartett? He and Lint are going to compliment each other very nicely - that is in looks, but hopefully also in personality. Is this the youngest you've ever had a rabbit?
So it's Neigey as in "Neigh(like a horse)-Gee" ?

MM, I think by "only bunny" she's meaning single or unbonded. So you get lots of one on one time with them.

Very pretty! I have a red-eyed all white standard rex named Emmy. She's very beautiful too.

Watch out though because I think rexes have some kind of extra fat gene in them - not really but I think because of their very short coats they must have somehow adapted themselves to have some "extra" fat to keep warm. You just have to really regulate their diets and make sure they get exercise.

Thanks everyone! I love my new 'addition'. I took 4 days to decide whether to keep him but those eyes, oh those eyes!

MM: LOL, I think my boyfriend was confused too...b/c I already have a trio of rabbits...

Sarita, thanks for reminding me of the fat gene. Lint has it bad! Right now, Neigey pees everyhere so I am thinking of letting him run in the hallways where I have just laminate flooring. Once he is neutered and littertained he can have my room.

Jersey, It's pronounced like that but with the 'g' sound the french way, like in 'bourgeois'

Adelaide, you love the white ones too?? I never knew until I saw this one, now I'm hooked!

Lintini: I'll keep it in mind... if the bonding goes horrible. It's a mini rex after all!

Mac, thanks, I made he hammock for him and he uses it a lot, mostly for chinning... haha.

--Guys, this bun is 3 months old and chins everything like crazy. He also has a strong scent already...the only bun smaller than him I have kept was Valmore as a kit when I fostered. Valmore didn't have a scent like Neigey and Valmore' s litterhabits were already perfect at 8 weeks...

Petzy makes me wonder if he was ever offered a litter box at the breeders or just kept in a cage without a litter box. I also wonder why some rabbits just get it and some don't...seems like we hear it alot that some rabbits have perfect litter habits and some people have a terrible time teaching their rabbit to use the litter box...not sure why that is.

Sarita, that must be why Neigey has no idea where to potty... I will ask my friend if she saw litter boxes where she got him. Valmore and his sisters of course came from KK's rescue and for sure had boxes from the start.

I made a bunnydate with Lint and Neigey first before deciding on Neigey. Granted, he's so young but I wanted to take advantage of this time before he matures. The date went well, Lint was calm and not wide-eyed or tense. Neigey was scared which helped.

Oh, Jersey and Mimz, that's funny that you call him 'Snowball'. That was going to be his name at first but I changed my mind.

Well, Monkey, I'm not complaining yet... it's only a little below freezing. (I'm saving that for when Fahrenheit and Celsius meet) -- The snow makes nice photos.

Neigey is growing of course, so I try to take lots of pictures.

He is already looking like a little buck.

I love white bunnies too. Assuming we ever get a second one I'm really hoping Freya can get along with a white lop earred boy. I don't have anything against uppy earred buns, I just have a super soft spot for lops and white buns.

This doesn't happen often (b/c he would get fed up after awhile) but there is sometimes a new bun I see on BB that makes me HAVE TO call Mike in from the other room to see. Neigey is one of those bunnies. Mike knows that when I want him to see a bun, it is b/c it is a SPECIAL bunny (one that I would have for myself in a heartbeat!) I'm looking forward to learning more about him!

Thanks, Beka. These clips are for you then (and Mike? )

-- I'm really happy I am getting to keep Neigey. I was feeling very meek about him being here... When I adopted Deirdra her size was such a shocker to my boyfriend and then she got even bigger. It helps that Neigey is small, white and rexed, you know what I mean.

MonkeyB, I think you have a love-hate relationship with Canada...

Wait, aren't you in Oregon?  How can they not have Kokanee?  I'm from Washington State, Eastside, and Kokanee was a staple of the diet there.

SO CUTE. sigh...

I love the super soft wrinkled fur behind bunny ears too... is this your first rex? They are just so amazingly soft... Are you sure he's a mini and not a standard, he looks bigger than Mead was at 4 months... and those ears are SO expressive!

I had to show Mike the dog video... he wants a dog BAD... but of course we have the whole "must love rabbits" dilemma...

My bunny Lint is a mini rex, too.

The breeder said that Neigey shouldn't exceed 4 lbs. Maybe he seems bigger in photos. ? Will see. I would prefer if he stayed small.

My male dog loves all the rabbits. When he is bored and it's too cold to go outside he watches them for hours. My female doesn't care for them much. I had a couple of fancy mice before I had rabbits and my dog loved those too. They were the size of his nose.

Aww so cute! Congratulations

I never thought about snow and my bunnies! hehe It snowed here today and I am wondering if it'd be okay to take Chubs out for a little while? (Comet will have just had his neuter today so no for him, but Chubs usually loves visits outside anyways!) How long can they be out in it? Any recommendations for warming them up when we come in?

Lint in the picture above is really smart. He will swipe his paws on my patio door when he wants in. Since he's a mini rex he woud feel the cold first. As a rule, my rabbits only go on the patio when I don't need hat & mittens. So if it snowed but the day is warming up with the sun and there is no wind they can go out for an hour and a half. They have a hide-out too and if I notice them going in it,I bring them inside. If I am home alone I turn my heating down and leave the patio door open. They never hop in unless I get them these days but it's still pretty mild. My one dog is made of sugar and if he is lying down in my drive way and not wanting in I know it's good outside for the rabbits, too.
Neigey now is too little to be outside and so he doesn't get to.
