I tried to youtube it for you guys but I couldn’t find it, so just keep an eye out:

Minute Maid Energy Boost “Oops!  Someone forgot to Boost!” commercial regarding a rabbit…

        setting: classroom

students go up to teacher, “Mr. SoandSo, Scooter isn’t feeling well!”

teacher looks up to see fluffy rabbit laid out still on a grate, “That’s okay I kept the receipt”

children give stunned looks, teacher boosts, then they replay the scene and the teacher gets up and rubs balloons on his head then uses the static to bring the bunny back to life.  bunny hops up.

        Shall we sue?

We can have hooty22 take care of it for us, now that she(?) is legal (ummm no pun intended) and all.

        1) Bunny is a class pet

        2) bunny is disrepected, disposable

        3) bunny is on a wire grid thingy

        4) etc.

Hogeeze. I hope PETA gets on this quick. I hate stuff like this.
Yeah, Hooty! Got a job for you! Sic ’em!
I don’t do energy drinks, but if I did, this one would be crossed off my list. The best way to sink this ad is to boycott the product and tell a friend.

While I can agree with the rest of the stuff… why shouldn’t bunnies be class pets?

Kept in a cage all the time, dirty sticky kid hands touching them all the time, being picked up wrong, dropped, ears tugged, tail tugged, chased, scared, you name it. Want a class pet, get an ant farm lol.

I am going to be a kindergarten teacher and I actually was thinking of having a bun as a class pet. The difference though is that part of my day would include going in early and staying late so it would have time out to run and play. I’d also bring it home on weekends. I suppose the differnce between some random person and me with a bun is that I’d make sure kids knew and understood bunny rules before they ever touched it. I also certainly wouldn’t let it out to run around on the floor with kids just because they would chase it. That’s horribly mean to do to a bun unless its a game they play with someone they trust.

That is a terrible commercial!  Hopefully the House Rabbit Society will get ahold of this one – they made great strides in getting the Subaru Forester commercial pulled.

Here are some articles from the House Rabbit Society on classroom rabbits:

                    http://www.rabbit.org/journal/3-10/classroom.html

                    http://www.rabbit.org/faq/sections/classroom.html

They do not advocate it either.

Gah! Well I don’t drink that stuff anyways since it has high fructose corn syrup. Icky.

Ok, so I read both articles, and frankly while the first one is disturbing it’s positively absurd to think that I would have a bun in that situation. The article, while informative about how common it is for people to be stupid, has zero information that is useful to me in any way. Every single thing that is described is blatently cruel and I know better. The second article is far better for someone in my position. Since I expect it to be another 4-6 years before I have my own classroom this is a choice that is a long way off. I fully intended to spend 2-3 years teaching to be familiar with the school, the district, the children of that age group. I thought I would then make the decision about having a bun if I intend to at all.
