About two weeks ago My boyfriend & I were taking his WILD 8 month old yellow Lab to the vet.  Somehow my purse fell out of the window of the car.. all I know is that it was missing.  So when we went to go look for it we couldn’t find it. I was sure someone found it and kept it.  Thank goodness my wallet wasn’t in there. But my drivers license and my house keys were in there ( I didn’t like the thought of somone having my adress and my house keys) . Anyway. I had a diamond ring in the purse a long with all kinds of other stuff like my cell phone.

        Well two weeks later, TODAY…

This guy showed up at our house this morning and said he has my purse!! He said he saw the purse on the side of the road so he picked it up and he put it in his girlfriends car the next day. She got in a car accident so they couldn’t bring it to me rite away.   He was cleaning out her car this morning and he found it and brought it to me!!  Nothing was missing.

I’m so happy there are good people in this world.  I was for sure my purse was long gone and I was never going to see it again.  Its hard to trust people these days.  I’m so thankful.

That is a wonderful story! It makes me so happy to hear nice things like that. There is definitely still good left in the world, it just gets clouded out by all the other krap!

          Thanks for sharing!

I think the news is full of bad stories because, well, it’s still news. good people are still in the majority and your great story proves it.

Wow… that makes you feel so good to know that there are other people who are respectful of other peoples’ things and care about others. Of course, what does it say about society that we’re all surprised that nothing was stolen from you? Thanks for a nice pick-me-up story.

nope, nothing was missing. at all. I carry to much in my pocket book, I had two diamond rings in there. (I know, not so smart).
& yes I had already replaced some things but I was so happy when I found out he actually took the time to drive to our house and give it back. He could have called and asked me to come get it. I was just so thrilled that day and wanted to share, thanks for taking the time to read it.

Wow, that was nice! I’m glad you got your purse back. You may want to consider getting your diamond ring insured too.

It’s nice to hear that there are good and trusting people still out there.

Oh I love stories like this! They make you feel so good knowing that there are still genuinely nice people out there!

Last Thanksgiving break, I was driving to my dad’s which is about 6 hours away from where I go to school.  I stopped at a gas station (in the middle of nowhere’s ville) to fill up my car and as a last second thought, I decided to check my tire pressure too. I had forgotten to do it before hand and still had four hours to drive and I was alone so I thought I was being smart…Anywho, I got out and left the driver’s door open while I checked. The wind blew it shut and in doing so, locked me out. So here I am, middle of nowhere with my car running and keys locked in on the night before Thanksgiving. Plus it was really cold out. So I’m standing there trying to figure out what to do (I should mention that my cell phone, wallet, etc is in the car also), and this middle aged man comes over and offers to help. I’m a little nervous since I’m alone and it’s night time in the middle of nowhere at a gas station, but it’s well lit and there’s other people around and what not- so I say sure. He then tells me that his daughter has the same car as me and has done this a countless number of times. In about ten minutes, my door is open again and he’s telling me to have a great Thanksgiving!

That is a wonderful story, Amanda! How fortunate for you! You know, here in Alaska, we actually have things like that happen regularly. In fact we even have an AM radio station that broadcasts during the weekdays and people can call in asking for lost things or telling when they’ve found lost items. Even animals, which is how the program got started back in the 60’s.
You find folks willing to pick up hitchhikers too, mostly because (especially in winter) it’s criminal to make someone walk any distance here. (I don’t do this myself, simply because I am a small woman and if I’m driving alone it just isn’t worth taking the chance unless it’s someone I know.)
However, for the most part it’s pretty safe. This is still wild country up here, most folks try to help their fellow man.
Sadly though, when my son recently lost his backpack at the university, it simply up and disappeared. He’d accidentally left it in the commons and by the time he went back for it, it was gone. He looked in the lost and found areas and asked everyone who he’d met up with that day if they’d seen it. No luck. Instead of someone being helpful and turning it in, they just took it and never returned it. It was surprising, I don’t expect that kind of behavior here.
Nothing valuable in it, with the exception of some passwords and a copper leaf he’d made in shop that he’d wanted badly to show me. And his art syllabus.
Strange opposites of experience. But I am glad it turned out well for you!

Amanda-P – I love to hear those stories. I also wish our News would report the “Good News” stories as a part of their regular newscast. It can be just as interesting and there are tons of great stories out there.

I actually had a similar situation where I had put my wallet on top of my car, when I was putting groceries in, and I forgot it on the top and drove off. When I got home, I realized what I did. A few hours later, I got a phone call. I met the guy the guy back at the store and got it back.

One time, when we first moved into our place here, a month later, we received an envelope with $200 CASH – I read it more closely and it was a Christmas note/letter from someone’s grandmother. Her grandson must have lived here previously. I called the landlord to see if he had a forwarding address for the previous tenant, and he said “Oh that guy hasn’t lived there in over a year, I have no idea where he is.” So I just sent the money back to the grandmother. I told my neighbor about it and she said, “OH WOW…How tempting especially during these hard times, I’m not 100% sure if I would have sent it back” (but I am pretty sure she would have even though she said that).

But I am also a big believer in what goes around comes around. I have found that to be true for me as I am always amazed by all the great people Steve and I meet – from the cashiers and managers that we joke around with at our local grocery, my funny caring neighbors all around us( sides, back, front) and/or just some random stranger that makes sure your wallet is returned with EVERYTHING still in it.

That’s not to say someone didn’t steal from me before, or use my CC# before when I left my purse behind in a hotel room.  I certainly don’t walk around with rainbow colored glasses  that’s for sure, but the “GOOD” far outweighs all the bad as far as all of the experiences put  together, and so I love to hear stuff like this about the “good”.   We need hear it more.

Awesome story! I am so glad people like that still exist! It’s so rewarding too when you help someone out like that too when you know there are other people that wouldn’t. I was on the freeway a few years ago and saw a guy hit a suv on the side of the freeway pulled over with the hood up and he kept driving after he ripped half the car off. I called the cops, gave them the license plate, car color, what I could see of the driver and that I suspected he was drunk. Too bad for him the highway patrol was less that 2 miles away. I stopped to get gas and when I came back onto the freeway he was pulled over at the top of the pass when about 15 highway patrol lol! The next day the woman called me whos car the man hit and she thanked me so much. It made me feel so awesome! I will never forget how thankful she was for me to help her catch him.
