*waves*
(No pics-Dave’s is slacking on uploading them for me!)
For those of you who remember me-I’m BACK!!! I had to take some time off, as you probably know, as I just had too much going on at home etc. to dedicate the time needed to be here. Obviously HERR is not functioning anymore-unfortunately the space we were using was not available anymore and the rabbit’s are fine and/or adopted out. I don’t want to comment too much more on that topic on a public forum but if you have any questions about it-feel free to email me and I don’t mind sharing that way.
Updates-since it’s been so long! (*bad, bad lesley*). We had a death in the family (my dad’s mum) and my parent’s dog Mandy (she has a brain tumour) started to depreciate(sp?) rapidly and we made the decision to put her down….to be refused by our vet (our vet is a doll) she was convinced it was a deep ear infection (Mandy has no ear drums because of the radiation) and aggressively treated for that (her cancer is cerebellar, and produces the exact set of symptoms as a severe ear infection!)-there’s been some complications, but Mandy who we were trying to get ready to say goodbye to, is doing wondeful! *knock on wood* I couldn’t be happier about that, but the whole ordeal was NOT fun!
The buns are doing great and love their bedroom. Rupert LOVES going outside to play in the yard (Kahlua couldn’t care for that kind of thing, and Chuck and Noot do not like anything that invovles being picked up  . I don’t know if he likes it because he was a stray and he’s used to being outside or because our yard is like a big bunny buffet hehehe -we have dandelions, alfalfa, clover, (grass of course!), apple trees and pine (are the only trees we have so that’s very bunny safe!) and kale, marigold, raspberries and strawberries. He binkies around eating (the others prefer that their slave deliver their prodcue to them)
Mikey is coming around to the bunnies. At first he did not do well at all, he’d go into a predator stance and concentrate on them so hard he couldn’t hear his name. He was completely flexed and just focused (unhealthy focus imho). I started by letting him smell their things, and have some of their treats when they got treats (he will eat ANYTHING that the bunnies get-including papaya tablets, HAY, pellets, and poop LOL). Then I started allowing him in while I was cleaning ( I crate all four and lock them in my bedroom, because four rabbits running around with a dog underfoot it just ridiculous)-so that allowed him to explore their room and be relaxed because they weren’t there. I then allowed him in while they were in but access to Chuck and Noot was blocked by the gate, and access to Kahlua and Rupert was blocked as they were up in their window ‘rabbit skywalk’. Anyways, he’s really coming around and can even gently lick them while I hold them. He also seems to sense Chuck’s disability as he does not bother me when I’m cuddling Chuck.
Anyways, I should probably stop writting before you all go cross eyed!!! LOL Great to be back on BB, and update me on how y’all’s summer is!!!
Hey there, FORUM LEADER!!!
I’m so sorry about your grandmother, vibes for your family, your dad especially.
Mandy obviously doesn’t endorse euthanasia… keep us posted about her medical details, I am very interested.
Get Dave on that, the uploading I mean. Do you have ridiculous photos of Mikey in predator stance with one bunny at each of his feet?
My female dog does not care for rabbits since she is not allowed to chase them. She does not mind my rabbits as long as they don’t touch her. Being touched by a rabbit makes her crazy. So, when they are running around her feet and brush against her paw, she will whip upward that particular paw, spin around her body, snorting like a bull! My male dog used to want to mate with my rabbits… gross. But now he loves them like his own little assigned herd of subjects….
Are you a gardener of sorts??
Summer up here is almost over…. brrrrrrrr!
Are you a gardener of sorts??
LOL I HAD to laugh!! I am sooo not a gardener-I tried-I actually tried really hard this year!!!
I managed to dessimate and kill pansies, violets, lillies, and a few perenial plants. Mikey killed my spruce trees by ‘marking’ them until they curled up all orange and died. And by pulling one out of the ground to play with
The ONLY thing growing in my yard that I put there is strawberries and kale-and I bought those as plants not seeds I planted carrots, lettuce and parsley by seed and nothing but dandelions came up!
The apples, dandelions, raspberries, clover etc. were all there from before (not sure how my neighbors feel about me encouraging dandelion growth LOL)
you know, I got my friend’s 4 rabbits here (visit the craze over in bonding!)… my own trio… my 2 dogs… and then someone leaves her 5 potted plants with me: guess, what’s the hardest for me to keep alive?? yup: those plants… please don’t die I say to them…. please! I’ve killed plenty before!
Hey K&K – glad to know you are doing okay. Sorry about your Grandmother & Mandy, though.
Great to hear the buns are happy and that Mikey is coming round!
Maybe i can get some tips on bunny puppy relations then!
we have youngun’s of both right now.
I’m sorry about your Grandmother & Mandy.
Glad you are back and the buns are doing well.
Great to see you back K&K!
That’s just weird, my name is Lesley as well, and I lived in Edmonton for a good 13 years O.o
Well hello. I posted you on bunspace and didn’t hear from you. You certainly have a lot going on. Sorry about the death in the family.
You take care and good to have you back
Welcome back Lesley!
I am so sorry to hear about your grandmother, my thoughts are with you and your family.
well, this is gonna get confusing
Good to see you back!
Steph, it helps if your dog is a pup and your rabbit is a baby bun. It really helps…
However, even if things go well, watch out for the puppy pawing at the bun. They can break a rabbit’s back with one playful swipe.
I’d start out by caging the rabbit and letting the dog sniff around it. Give treats to the rabbit during the sniffing detail so to make it positive for the rabbit. Maybe you’ve already been doing that. The difficulty is that rabbits tend to move with speed and this puts most dogs into chasing mose. If your rabbit is already calm around the dog, or vice versa,, you can let bunny hop around in the open and have your dog on a short lead. It’s the front paws you have to keep watching… especially puppies investigate by toying things around with the paws. At which point are you in this?
they can be out in the open while the other is in their area.
gizmo will inspect her while she is in her kennel, if she makes a move to paw at gizmo then bun will move back and give her the bum haha.
she’s pretty good with him as long as shes on her leash.
OMG!! *Huge sigh of relief* SO glad you are back. You were MISSED! Ok, going to read your post now….just got ahead of meself there.
Hi Lesley . You’ve had a hectic time by the sounds. I’m sorry to hear of your Grandmothers passing. Was she in Canada also? I’m also sorry to hear about the difficulties with HERR. Especially considering the energy you put into it.
As to Mandy….that dog is a trooper! Isn’t she ‘technically’ your dog? That must have been a surprising stance by your vet. Obviously she was on the money. Is she the same one that has treated Mandy all along?
Not too much to report from ‘Stralia. We’re actually in final weeks of winter here. Temps averaging 16C . We even had 26C last Saturday!Myself and the buns are doing good – R & J have settled into a nice pattern and get quite snuggly with one another for naps. Rumball is looking better too and losing some of his fat. Though serious shedding is probably contributing to his slimmer look. That boy has some fur!
So happy you seem your cheerful self and are back on the boards…but either way, take good care of yourself! (((Hug)))
btw, pictures will be required. There’s new rules.
Lesley! you turned blonde. I’m *very* upset.

She’s a total trooper! She wasn’t her orignal vet, we saw two at that clinic and both said it was this that and the next thing-and if it *was* cancer, it was untreatable as they do not have raditation/chemo for animals. This vet actually saved Mandy by stepping and being like-uh yeah, in Saskatoon there IS radiation/chemo (and in fact it’s now in Calgary as the lady who ran it in sask is now on mat leave) unforatunately if those other two vets hadn’t dropped the ball she would have had radiation earlier and perhaps completely irradicated the tumour
Mandy is my baby, but she’s the family dog so she couldn’t move out with me when I had to move out (it was quite heartbreaking, we were very close) but now she knows where I live, and seems to like Dave more then me

Ok *jealous!!!* hrmph…that’s WHY I’m moving to australia eventually
Lesley! you turned blonde
heheh actually it’s dark brown with lowlights right now-I finally got it dyed and cut
lowlights… whatever — you have left the brunette club. I’m stuck in it because my hair is too long to dye.
Petzy you have officially joined the ‘up way too late at night’ club
Welcome back, I can understand how things get hectic in your life, I am so busy that I just don’t get much time to get on BB anymore. 🙁
Welcome back K&K!
She’s baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaacccccccckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk.
Yea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My condolences to your family for your grandmother. It’s been one of “those” years for you, but sounds like things are better now.
Hi there! Glad to see you back!
So sorry to hear about your grandmother, but how wonderful that Mandy is doing so much better! Dakota goes in for surgery on Monday to have 2 cysts removed, I’m a little nervous about that.
I’m sure you buns absolutely love their room. I don’t dare let mine know about it otherwise they’ll be demanding one too.
– Annette
So glad to have you back and so sorry to hear about your grandmother. I hope your dad and the rest of the family is doing okay.
One question- What is a window skywalk?
LOL Remember ‘rabbit skywalk’ that vid on youtube-with the music ‘rabbit skywalk’ where those people made a walk around their whole house?…..welll anyways just punch rabbit skywalk into youtube.com and you’ll see that I’m really not crazy (or not reallly, at least see I’m telling tha truth ) soooo I built a min one for Rupert and Kahlua to go up and be able to look out the window

Lesley! you turned blonde. I’m *very* upset.
But.. I’ve always been blonde. >.>
I’m so gonna have fun with this….
Welcome Back!!! I was really starting to think you’d left us forever!!!
Glad to hear all your buns are doing well and my condolences on the loss of your Grandmother and your dog.
It’s been hard for me finding enough time on Binky Bunny this summer too, hence the taking four days to see this post. Lots of stressful health problems with my horse (laminitis). But all my buns are doing well except for the odd little thing here and there (bunny ear troubles mostly).
I’ve really missed seeing all the pics of your bunnies! So get busy, Missy!!!
