I went in the other room for a few seconds and saw it, I SAW the remote sitting on the recliner!!  I said to myself “maybe I should move it” but didn’t see Archie around so I’m like “well I’ll be gone for a few seconds”.  Never think that since the buns aren’t around they won’t cause trouble!  I checked up on Gracie because she had actually jumped on the couch by herself!  But of all places to jump off she jumped off by the tv tray (I saw it coming but it was too late to act on it) and she hit her nose on the bottom of the tray Ouch!!    I heard this sound as I was checking up on her…like chewing.  I thought it was Sandy because she likes to eat the cardboard of her cage.  I go in the living room and “OH MY GOD ARCHIE!!!!!’  My husband heard me scream and got up from bed.  23…23 buttons were eaten up!!    The last remote he only got to 3 or so.  He had a field day with this one!  It was our faults anyways, we saw the remote there and did nothing.  So not only are we going to the store tomorrow, we have to go to Time Warner to get a new remote.  *sigh*  Maybe we should put a bag over the remote for protection.  Well someone is going to have some weird looking poo come tomorrow.

That remote looks hauntingly familiar… missing buttons and all…

If they can’t flip it over always put the remote face down. Otherwise put it in a gallon size ziploc baggie .

Oh, no!23 buttons? My boyfriend gets so mad when more buttons mysteriously go missing. What is it with rubber buttons?

Olivia has a taste for phone buttons apparently. Same rubber texture as the remote buttons but she ignores those so I didn’t think to hide the phone. Now I have no redial and a few numbers missing. That’ll learn me

Oh, we have the same thing. Thank goodness we know which buttons do what, otherwise it would be confusing every time we watched the tube.

ahhh another student of bag the remote club.  ahahhaa. Yep.  I had to replace the ziploc bag the first one got a bit tattered.

I am afraid of putting the remote upside down I am sure Cotton can flip it.

23 Buttons tho thats is a lot of damage in a very short time. Wow love those buttons

I was letting out Sandy in the spare room while Archie and Gracie had free roam.  NEVER AGAIN!!  I’ve been really good with the remote, and I put it in the remote caddy with all the rest on the end table.  Well I hear something and go into the living room.  Archie jumped onto the couch, hopped on the end table, took the DVR remote (the one he ALWAYS ends up chewing on…not the tv, not the dvd player, but the DVR remote ) dragged it over to the arm of the couch and chewed off 9 and 1/2 buttons while sitting on the end table.   Needless to say I chased him back in his cage, Gracie back in her cage for trying to get to Sandy, and put Sandy back in her cage for trying to chew on every single piece of furniture and wall corner!  UGH!    They are being punished right now and won’t get any treats tomorrow (they had them already today).  They will never have any out time while I’m in the next room.  I angerly went into the kitchen and grabbed a gallon bag and cut it up and taped it together.  Maybe that will stop him…maybe, I doubt it though.  That is the 3rd remote he’s chewed on!  Time Warner is going to think we feed them remote   We just got a new one a week or so ago too   I think the buttons will be ok for now and maybe next year I’ll replace it, I’m too embarrassed to go back there and replace it, even though they’re free….I’m sure sooner or later they’ll start charging us.  And then I ask myself “And why did we get a third bunny??”

Oh my! I didn’t know the remotes were free… we waited until we traded in our DVR to get a new one! I hope the plastic baggie helps! Alll those buttons can’t be good for Archie even though he seems to love them…

What is it with buns and rubber buttons, or rather rubber in general?

Oops I missed some it was actually 13 and 1/2!  He was rather grumpy after he ate the 23, you’d think he would have learn his lesson!  Luckily he didn’t get to the numbers.  I’d rather buy a cheapy one so then I wouldn’t have to explain what happened to the remote for a 3rd time   Yup, well at least for Time Warner they replace them for free….I think.  Watch it’ll be on my next bill   The woman actually said “wow I never heard that one before…dogs and cats yes but never rabbits”

Ok… so it mightn’t be a good look but maybe you can glue small clothes buttons to the rubber buttons? They might try chew them but it’d take longer.

Well that might work with the cloth…Sandy likes to eat clothing, so she’d probably end up helping him when they’re bonded

There’s an end table between two recliners and he’d have to really jump to get on it (which he has tried!), and I’ll put all the remotes there.  If that doesn’t work I’m going to string a box that will hang down from the ceiling and it will be made of lead and have kryptonite around it and it will hold the dvr remote

Oh, I meant just small plastic buttons that are on clothing, like cuff buttons. Chewable but harder. Thing is – if you glued buttons on you then have to discern which button does what…so yeah….lol Maybe resort to sewing remote control pockets into your clothing so you have it at all time….haha. Bet they could still get to it.

Wow..I am so paranoid of the bunnies eating anything they shouldn’t, I must look like Monk going over their play spaces ten and twenty times before letting them out. 0_o
Do these things hurt their tummies? I mean, do they digest this stuff at all? I’d be more worried about that than what the cable company is going to say. My hubby would NOT be pleased at eaten remote buttons, but he’d probably laugh it off…probably… >.<

LOL I love Monk!  Yeah I freaked out the first time he did it (this is the third time he’s done this), but he’s been running around and eating and pooping so he’s fine.  Just have to watch them afterwards to make sure they don’t get GI statis.  I found the power button in the litter today nah I’m just joking, but I have no clue how it’s digested   I’m just going to have to grow my nails out more to push them   All you can do is try your best to watch what they’re around and get it out of the way but you turn your back for one minute and they’re chewing on something they’re not suppose to.  It really is like having a kid in the house…I’m guessing since I don’t have any.

Well, I don’t have kids either but… I’m told that eventually kids stop chewing on remotes – rabbits never do. LOL

                                          this is  a funny topic.

Well the cable remote quit working for the volume.  I used to hit it and it would work but then it got so much worse all of a sudden.  And Cotton had chewed a few.

They mailed me another one and gave me a baggy to send the messed up one back.    Charged me 5.00 I guess cuz Cotton chewed off some buttons.   Yeah like that was the problem

so while reading this post i started chuckling and my boyfriend asked what was funny. i showed him the pictures and explained the thread and he thought it was pretty amusing. i thought he had noticed the 2 buttons missing on our remote by now, so i mentioned how quickly mj sliced off 2 of our buttons when i accidentally left it on the floor. with a shocked look, he snatched up the remote and stared at the missing buttons in horror. apparently he hadn’t noticed! OOPS!!!

he got over it.. but not before complaining for a bit. haha..

This thread got me thinking, so I googled “Buttonless remote controls” and found this.http://www.interactiondesignblog.com/2008/…-concepts/

Check out No. #5 and #13 for remote controls. (and any others that pique your interest.) They operate a bit like the Wii remotes.  The page is dated Oct 2008 so maybe some of these designs are not just concepts anymore –  but cool all the same.   Buttonless remotes – not entirley bunny proof though…I reckon they could actually start using these remotes just by tossing them around!

Interesting! I’m to lazy and sick right now to look it up but I think I’ve seen a remote that was all flat and no rubber buttons. Wish they made those for Time Warner, I bet that would save them some money on remotes! It’s to bad he doesn’t go after the tv or dvd remote but those buttons aren’t as colorful and are smaller. So far the bag has helped!
