There was a horrible stench in my basement for days. Nobody could ignore it. It was said that it must be my rabbit trio…

i searched everywhere to prove this theory wrong… I looked for three days but couldn’t find the source and the stink kept getting nastier and uglier. It was a brutal odor of death.

If I didn’t find the source of the stink my rabbits would be in serious trouble, I knew….

Well, on the evening of the third day of looking, five days after the stink was first noticed, I found it:

2 lbs. of raw chicken left to thaw on top of my stand-up freezer a week before (!) and forgotten…. the freezer is high and well above my eye level, I just didn’t see it!

        — my question: which rabbit smells like dead chicken???

Petzy, that’s hilarious! Well ok, probably not so funny for you since you had to live with the stink.

The odor probably offended the bunnies way before it offended you.  I can picture your buns discussing “how the maid service has just gone downhill” since the quartet arrived to be bonded.

Katnip, I thought of that, too. My servives to them had suffered… but the stench put me back on track! I’m not telling any lies when I say my trio has no smell! I even bought urine guards for their litter cage….

rofl    thats funny.    Want to hear my rotten stink stories.

Well we ate pizza and had left over.  Man put it in the oven.   AFter about a week Peeeeuuuw.  I bleached the trash can looked all over couldn’t find the source.

Fired up oven to cook one day.  Opened the door and a pizza box was on fire.    Yep found the smell.

Chicken has a way worse smell tho.   Poor you and buns.

Now your buns are extremely clean.     lol

OH and I had a cage full of birds finches parakeets and such.  We kept getting a smell.  I would take the cage to the porch and clean it real good vacuumed good and put anti stink stuff down.

                  To no avail.

One day I needed something out of the big living room closet.  (place has lots of cool s torage space)

There it was.   The bird seeds has gotten in the closet carper and were growing.  The books in there were rotted.  The washer has a leak and it went from the kitchen to the closet and we never knew it.

Those were good books too   dr. Suess and stuff.  Dang had to throw them out.

But that chicken phew. Hopefully your buns won’t call out for new maid service

yes, I had to do the nasty job of disposing of the putrifying chicken meat.

BT: that pizza box on fire! How dangerous! — I guess, stuff grows quickly in FL, even in a closet??!!

Isn’t it funny, though, how pets get blamed for all stinks?
