        Is there a Santa Claus?

You can be the one that makes the difference this Christmas.

We need someone with a big heart to make a Christmas Eve miracle happen for little Leo, the Lop-eared rabbit. He’s adorable, he’s neutered, he’s easy-going and loves socializing with rabbits and people. But Leo’s got bad teeth, called “malocclusion,” and due to this, he has been considered “unadoptable” and will be euthanized. Leo needs a home now and he only has until FRIDAY, DECEMBER 24, 2010, CHRISTMAS EVE, to find a home.

Generally, malocclusion requires trips to the vet once a month or every other month for tooth trims by staff, which usually costs around $20 per visit. For some rabbits, this will correct over time with regular trims, while other rabbits will always need a monthly trim. Some vets recommend having the teeth removed, for severe cases, making regular tooth trims unnecessary. While this condition will need attention, it should not be a death sentence!

The volunteers who have worked with Leo say that he enjoys his play time, and runs around to explore and sniff out where fruit treats might be! Although he had some rough times recently as a stray, he was lucky to be brought to be among caring people. He’s a charming fellow and eagerly awaiting to charm you!

Leo has begun to doubt if Santa Claus really exists…if you can adopt Leo and make this Christmas Eve miracle happen If so, please email Jennifer at jenlee03@yahoo.com. We are in Northern California.

Published in 1897, in response to 8-year-old Virginia’s letter to The Sun newspaper:
Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy. Alas! How dreary would be the world if there were no Santa Claus. It would be as dreary as if there were no Virginias. There would be no childlike faith then, no poetry, no romance to make tolerable this existence. (…) Is it all real? Ah, Virginia, in all this world there is nothing else real and abiding. No Santa Claus! Thank God! he lives and he lives forever. A thousand years from now, Virginia, nay, ten times ten thousand years from now, he will continue to make glad the heart of childhood.

If you can, please rescue Leo.
If he sees Christmas this year, there really is a Santa Claus.

Poor little Leo How on earth can a teeth trimming issue be classed as “unadoptable”? It’s ridiculous Poor little man! I do wish I could help, but I am at my bun limit til I have bonded mine

Leo the rabbit is safe tonight, in his forever home, with visions of sugarplums dancing in his head.  Even if there is nothing under the tree for him tomorrow morning, Santa has already brought Leo what he wanted for Christmas most of all - life.

Thank you to all who emailed and posted, offering support, foster space, and adoption.  “Santa Claus exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy.”

            Merry Christmas to all!

So glad Leo found his forever home. I understand it’s not a reason to euthanize a rabbit but I do understand as well that resources at shelters are extremely limited.

Yeah, but to classify him as Unadoptable, thats the part that bugs me.

Merry Christmas to Leo and his new, loving family. He is adorable and those pix pull at the heartstrings. He looks like an Eeyore.

I’m so happy he found a good home, what a nice Christmas miracle. $20 per month is by no means an outrageous cost for maintenance. Thanks for putting the word out there and helping these poor bunnies find homes!
