Deep breaths. :p

I guess I've had a little head start in getting used to the idea it's October, but I hate we're at this end of this year already!

Good news here: the weather has finally dropped from the 90s to the 80s and even 70s. When it isn't raining. I went for 1st nature walk of the season this weekend.
Bad news here: It's Season. 3-4 months of tourist madness and horrible drivers, followed by abrupt unemployment for the locals. Sigh.

It's pouring rain here and cold right now If it keeps like this we will definitely have snow before Halloween... so depressing

I'm so exhausted today it's not even funny! I work Monday-Saturday as it is, between my two jobs and on Saturday I got stuck working for 17 hours straight with only a 15 minute lunch :| I've worked long days before, but that was to a whole new level. We were on emerg, at the clinic, and once school starts we aren't usually busy again until Thanksgiving (which is next weekend, in Canada). But I swear anything that could go wrong did, and it was just insanely stressful. The only upside is that my animals missed me, so they were extra lovey the poor rabbits got their dinner 7 hours late and I went straight home and passed out and my cat cuddled up beside me for 10 hours while I was dead to the world.

And now, with only one day off, I'm back at work, at my office job. Everything is quiet here so I'm hoping I can get away with being the walking dead today SHHHH

It's been really cold here too but I don't think we'll get snow... yet!

I like that it's October in the sense of I like fall things- apples, pumpkins, changing leaves, not burning-hot weather. And it means the semester is progressing.

I don't like it because I'm not ready for winter yet!!! Or my sister's wedding :/

I have an HIV/AIDS Education class and we students have to post to a discussion board. I posted one of the early theories of what people thought HIV/AIDS came from when it first occurred in the United States. One of my classmates replied and got angry saying that HIV/AIDS is not only passed by man to man, but to women and children. Uh, I do know that, however, I am just stating what I know and what people had THOUGHT back then. This person is a guy that who knows everything. I sometimes think that he should be a doctor sometimes by how much he knows. I do know that anyone can get AIDS, however the fact that he not only misread my post, but attacked me with EXCLAMATION MARKS in this reply made me pissed. So I asked him if he read my post carefully, because I posted an early theory of how people thought about AIDS, NOT that how that is the only way of transmission.

Sorry, I just needed to vent. People just.. UGHHHHHHHHHHHHH

*pulls hair out!*

Today is my Friday at work and I look forward to it being done and over with. One of the previous Assistant Managers is coming back to work as a Person in Charge (helps out cashiers when they need it)! She is FABULOUS and I cried when she left She is that type of person that takes care of you and you enjoy talking to because they make you feel at home even when you hate work.. LOL! This is the woman that gave me a whole bag of romaine lettuce last summer for Chacha! It was totally not expected!

Oi! Today is the first of October and I didn't even realize it. Silly me for responding in the September chat! xD I really cannot understand Florida weather. It confuses the living day lights out of me. Yesterday it started raining when it was perfectly sunny. And this morning it was so hot I would have thought we were in the middle of August. Not just ten minutes ago it started to get really stormy looking outside and began to pour. I just don't understand it. >.<

ChaCha people like that annoy the living piss out of me. I can have quite a temper sometimes and when people act like that it makes me want to reach over and give them a good smack in the face.

Cinnabun I'm right there with you! That is one of my favorite movies! Tim Burton is mad genius.

AUUGGHHH Peppy is driving me nuts today. I don't know what's gotten into her, but she's on a carpet spree! She's been hopping around my apartment all morning, nose to the ground, looking for bits of carpet to pull out. I woke up at 7am to the sound of carpet being ripped out, and got out of bed to cover the spot. Then 30 seconds later...same thing. After almost an hour of this I was fed up so I took her carrier out, put some hay/water in it, and locked Peppy inside for a couple of hours while I went back to sleep. Kind of felt bad since it's a small space, but she no longer has a cage and it's exam week so I really needed my rest.

Sigh, now she's at it again. Come on silly bunny, it's 2pm and time for you to go take your nap so I can study...please!! They're so frustrating sometimes...

Bosse will hardly ever play with me since he got his condo. He's just chilling in there pretty much all day he gets out for like 5 minutes, gets pets, and then goes either back in, or goes to his little nic cage hidey hut I made for him with leftover cubes. I miss my little buddy (

SkippersMama -- Hahahaha, totally! My boyfriend and friends ALL laugh about what a rabbit freak I am! I can't help it though. I feel like they're so fragile that I just always have to be prepared!! And those Ziplock bags are annoying! We bought some to store all our veggies in too. And ended up just giving up on them... You literally had to pump like 10 minutes straight for like 1 bag.

Svandis -- Awwwww, he'll start to miss you! All 3 of mine were just like that when we built their condo but now they're always banging on their doors to come out. Everyone needs a place to be "theres" and I think that's what they love about it. They never get in trouble in there and can just tear apart whatever they find.

The buns have been going through SOOOO much hay since we limited their pellets. Roughly a pound a day between all 3. LOL. So we were forced to stop buying the small Oxbow bags of hay and had to order the 9 lbs of Orchard Grass. It's hard to figure out how that tiny of an animal can eat soo much! I swear I'm always refilling their hay hangers! We had to hang two on the side of their condos because filling up their litter boxes just wasn't enough anymore.

Peppypoo -- I definitely feel your pain! But lucky for me, they go right back into the cage! If mine were free-roam... *shudders*

Tanlover, they do eat a ton of hay lol my two get the giant bales for horses and i'm always surprised by how fast they go through the purple tub I fill up for them from it. Bottomless pits of hay eating.

I turn 26 this month, ack. I try to read my teenage cousins FB posts and I don't understand half of what they say. I feel old. lol

Hope everybun is doing well this month.

Yay October!! Can't wait for November when I get to pick up my new baby bunny!! I wish I knew for sure that we'll get one so I could start buying a bunch of bunny stuff The breeder was supposed to take some pictures on the weekend but so far I got nothing, I hope she didn't forget

Stickerbunny, we are almost the same age, so you aren't the only senior here  I don't even bother with facebook, or twitter, or smartphones... lol, I just want one of those big button old people dumbphones and for the kids to stay off our lawn!!!

tanlover, it's great that they eat so much hay! I guess there's no way for you to get a bale of hay somewhere? That should be cheaper, I can get one for $7 or so.

Svandis, don't worry, the new will wear off and he'll come out to bug you and get into trouble in no time!

Happy October every one!

Skipper, I'm right there with you about the weather! I was low 80's yesterday so some friends and I spent the day at the springs laying out and swimming in the cool water (constantly 72* and crystal clear for those who don't know!)

I got an interesting text from a friend of mine the other day. She offered me one of her rabbits. We both have zoos in our houses, and she says she has too many mouths and wouldn't mind downsizing. What's interesting is she's offering me the bunny that originally got me into rabbits. I got Tofu because she got to the other one first (mutual friend was offering it up on facebook). I don't know what to do. On one hand I would really love to adopt this little lop eared girl! On another hand I don't know if it's too soon. When I thought of adopting another rabbit I wanted one who was already neutered/spayed and littertrained. This baby is neither. She's still small though.... about the size of a florida avocado, and apparently insanely sweet. Opinions?

In other news I was voted Captain of my roller derby's home team. A very big honor! I am taking a map making class this semester. I thought I would hate it, but now I really want to go and get the most of it because how cool would it be to tell people that I can make maps? lol

Hazel, we'd LOVE if we could get a bale of hay -- but we currently live in a condo complex that doesn't allow animals.  I think we'd have a rather hard time of sneaking in a huge bale of hay along with having a small closet that we keep all the buns stuff in.  We would def have to do some rearranging but if we had ideas on how to sneak it in we would probably do it.  We calculated how much the cost would be on how much they are going through of oat hay (they only have small sizes in Oxbow) and what we buy and it came out to $150 a month, phew.  So the poor buns are being forced to switch back to Orchard Grass which comes in larger sizes with Oxbow (we buy pretty much all of our bunny stuff Oxbow).  My BF turned out to be allergic to Timothy so our buns had to be switched off that too!  Oy Vey.  I wasn't sure how easy it would be either to find barns or places that sell anything besides Timothy but then again... I've never really looked.  I'm from Pittsburgh though so I'm not sure how far we'd even have to drive to find a bale!

Zoologist -- My opinion is that maybe you should go over and spend some time with the bun AND THEN see what you think!  Sometimes buns and people just CLICK but if not, then I would suggest waiting and finding one that really suits your needs and what you're looking for.  Congrats on being voted Captain!

Stickerbunny, I just turned 24 so I'm not very far behind you guys!  I do the same thing now with the FB posts and I swear I think seniors in high school still look like they're in 7th grade!

Arghhhh!!  I'm going to go nuts if the BB store doesn't get the I-Clicker in soon!  I'm DYING to start working with my crazy energetic boy bun who is having some behavioral issues!  I've been reading a lot up on it and I'm really excited to start!

I think it's a sign that I'm getting really old with all these weather things...or maybe I've just been enjoying the little things in life more than usual lately.  I was walking home from work today and really enjoyed the slight breeze and the leaves all over the ground..  And just the other week I was enjoying the thunder storms we kept having (which is strange because I typically have always despised the rain!).

We had snow yesterday. It didn't stick but brrrrrrrr...... >_<
My son will be having his wisdom teeth out on friday and I have a punch biopsy because of an odd mole change on my chest tomorrow. My youngest cat may be in the early stages of CRF and Mimzy still has a 90 degree head tilt...but he seems well within himself regardless.

Other things going on in my family that I won't go into here...just suffice it to say that stress is high.
I'll be glad to be saying goodbye to 2012 in a few months. Going to try to enjoy the remainder of the year regardless. Wishing us all better times ahead! (((((((((Hugs all around)))))))))

ChaCha - I hate those types of discussions. It seems like people misinterpret and jump to conclusions a lot. I hate know-it-alls too. Here is something interesting for you though. In anthropology, we learned that a small percentage of people are immune. It has to do with having two copies of a particular allele. It occurs in people who's ancestors survived the plague. Anyway, the gene makes it so the immune system cannot be "tricked" by the virus. The virus tricks the immune system in much the same way the plague does.

During that same year, competing scientific groups made a series of discoveries that could open a new chapter in treating -- and preventing -- infection by the lethal organism. For the first time, the treatments would be aimed not at the virus itself, but at a portal through which HIV enters white blood cells and attacks the immune system.

Scientists in 1996 identified the portal: It was a large protein called Chemokine Receptor 5, or CCR-5, which is a normal part of the cell produced by a gene having the same name.

When this gene is mutates, it produces the protein incorrectly. In fact, when people inherit two copies of the mutant CCR-5 gene, the cell fails to make the portal protein at all. It simply does not exist, and the cell is like a house with no front door.

I was SO excited last night. I got to hold an owl last night and she really seemed to like me. I was a bit annoyed though. This was an outreach thing and there were families there. The kids kept asking if they could pet "my bird". We're not supposed to let people pet her so I said no, she might get scared with little hands coming at her. Problem solved. The issue was the parents. Several of them just walked up and tried to touch her! Didn't asked or anything.

Tanlover and Hazel - I bet you're right

I caught up on some of the curriculum today. Have my first exam in November already, and I do not feel ready. I'm studying psychology and so far it has all been about biological development, neuro science and more psysiopsychology than anything else = not very exiting. I'm not good with scientific subjects. However when this exam is finished, we are starting up on mental illnesses, psychological traumas etc. That will be very exciting!

Svandis I had a really hard time with Intro to Psych when I took it because it was all new concepts and a bunch of stuff to memorize. I ended up drawing tons of crazy pictures to help me remember the synapses, re-uptake processes, etc. It's so bad though because I can't remember any of it now! xD

Zoologist That map class sounds awesome! Where do you go UCF? They have this basket weaving class at USF and we always joke that they're going to turn the class into an underwater basket weaving class to make it more challenging. =p USF has some crazy odd classes. Hahahaha.

So Skipper has decided she wants to be a little terror lately. This morning I had Skippy out and I keep a sliding door to another room closed so she can't go in there and mess things up in there because it's not bunny proofed. The door must have been open a smidge and she decided she wanted to try to squeeze her way out because I was cleaning her cage and had the vacuum going (to suck up the hay she threw around). All I could hear was this odd rattling noise. I thought it was something that that the vacuum had sucked up. But I turned around for a second just in case to make sure it wasn't Skipper. Sure enough she was trying to squeeze her head through the crack and scratched at the opening. She didn't know I was watching and kept at her antics. The minute I shut off the vacuum to stop her, she turns around and gives me this look like, "But Ma I wasn't doing anything wrong". Of course she was caught so I called her and she came running up to kiss up to me. xD It made me laugh because for a while I thought she didn't know her name. NOPE she just ignores me! Hahaha!

Svandis - are you majoring in psychology in school/do you want to work in psychology in the future? I remember taking all those psychology courses..the neuroscience can be pretty confusing but it helps a lot when you get to the "interesting stuff" .

Mimz - wow, best wishes for everything going on! I hope all turns out for the best.

Haha I'm 23 right now..does that count as mid-20's? Weird! I don't feel like it...

What is everybody dressing up as for Halloween? Time to start thinking about those costumes! I'm probably going to re-use a costume from college and go as Yoshi, since nobody at my current school saw it haha. It's just a Yoshi plush hat with kelly green shorts, leggings, and t-shirt on which I sewed a white belly and red shell/saddle on the back.

We'll see how everything goes. I need to stop spending so much time here on BB but I can't help it haha!
And haha Skipper is just adoreable!

Peppypoo - I'm taking a one year class in psychology, which counts as the first year of a bachellor if I want to continue studying psychology I haven't really decided yet if it is what i really want to work with, but I've always found psychology very very interesting. If I get through this year with okay grades and I still feel interested, I'm going to try and make it into a carreer.

Yay it's fall! Everything is orange and beautiful right now. The weather is even holding out! Unfortunately this won't last long as my local forecast is calling for snow starting on Thursday... Winter weather is absolutely horrible where I live so I'm hoping the fall weather lasts as long as possible (its not uncommon to drop below -40C)!

ChaCha - I HATE people like that. For the last two years I've had a classmate who not only corrects other students, but tries to correct the profs at my university (unfortunately he's usually wrong, or its just minor things like when a prof is simplifying a complicated concept and he's all "actually no, you're missing steps"). Not only is this rude, it's incredibly disrespectful. Every time he put his hand up the entire class would audibly groan but he never seemed to hear it.

Svandis - it's funny that you say that the neuroscience stuff is dull. I loved that stuff compared to the other subjects within psychology, but I was definitely the minority, haha. At my university that particular stream is called Biopsychology (biological psychology) and it was my major for my first degree (when i say that i feel really old so I'm going to add that I'm only 24) Overall psychology is a fascinating field. I especially love the psychology that attempts to explain or manipulate human behaviour (I'm taking a behaviour modification course as an elective this term and love it!). Plus it's applicable to SO many other things. I'm in the final year of my human nutritional sciences degree and my psychology background has definitely helped.

First of all, no one under the age of 68 is allowed to use the word 'Senior' except in saying that they are in their final year in high school or the year after Junior in college.

Second, twenties, You feel old? - bwhahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!! Mid-twenties starts at 25. Age anxiety starts at 29. Realization that you are smarter, more fun and definitely more relaxed yet energetic begins at 31. In your 20s you are sure you know everything, but in your 30s you realize you were wrong about that, and it is a great relief.

After 50 is when you realize that you see yourself as yourself, but the rest of the world is starting to use inappropriate words for you like 'senior'. I am there. I have no grey hair yet. (OK, 3 in my cowlick that I pull out once every 3 months.) I am short tempered and less patient, mostly with people who think I am too old for anything, but especially good jobs. I DO remember the 80s, and we Star Trek watchers called our future selves 'grups'. I admit I am now a Grup.

Enjoy your 20s. They are mostly confusing. 30s and 40s are THE BEST. Remember the expression, "If I knew I was going to live this long, I'd have taken better care of myself."
Happy Birthday, Everybody, and many, many more.

Seconded RabbitPam... But I am grey (especially as I have not been able to find my favourite Ash Blonde Camoflage lately) I remember Star Trek when it wasn't repeats and William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy were still considered hot. MacGyvers mullet was still sexy and The Brady Bunch was forward and progressive. Also Sanitary pads before they were compact and adhesive (girls you have no idea how primitive the 60's were we are talking 3 foot long contrivances that required belts, plastic panties and were the size of an antique Long Board, don't even get me started on the alternative) Man walked on the moon, Rock Hudson had not yet come out of the closet, Gilligans Island was still innovative and the national and state awards still separated by gender as well as age and you could not have elective surgery without your husbands or fathers consent. Bobby Sherman and David Cassidy were heart throbs and "Me and You and a Dog Named Boo" was number one on the charts, Cat Stevens was still called Cat Stevens and The Carpenters had "Only Just begun". For beauty treatments you tried washing your hair with beer, mayonnaise or lemon juice, heated rollers were juice cans, ironing your hair was the best way to straighten it, wedgies (shoes) were a new idea and Disco was just being born. A guy in skin tight flairs was considered as a fashion legend and mobile phones were the size of a large over night bag and cost the national debt. Bra's were burnt, Helen Reddy voiced an anthem, Germaine Greer penned the Female Eunuch and Twiggy caused a riot by wearing a mini to the races. There is so much more but basically I am saying the 60's - 90's was a pretty amazing journey. I wish you could have been there but you have your own horizons, enjoy and treasure them.

Sounds good Peppypoo!

I'm so old I don't dress up for Halloween anymore!  We just sit at home, eat the candies we were supposed to hand out and complain about the noise outside...

My Dad: Enjoy your 20's.

My parents had my older brother when they were 22-23, and had me when they were 30-31. I intend to not have a kid (or if it even happens) until I'm in my 30's. My boyfriend (future husband, haha) is fine with that, his mom had him when she was 35. Chacha is my baby child

I went to the Resident Evil 6 release and the assistant manager of my department gave me a Red Bull. I don't drink energy drinks usually, but I might need it today. I am dead tired

I'm 21 but with all my health issues I feel older. That and I've always acted older than my years and now I'm starting to regret that

I'm having issues with the rescue lady. I feel like I have to keep pestering her to move along with this adoption thing. I know she's busy but you'd think she'd be excited to adopt a bun to a good home. Maybe it's just that she always seems so different in text/email than in real life. Idk. I'm worried this is going to get put off and I'm only going to get busier. My plan for this upcoming weekend is to start building condo #2 while my dad is still letting me keep his power-tools. Although I gotta be careful, been having a clumsy streak. Yesterday lost my balance bending over the baby gate and me and it came crashing down face first. Needless to say I feel like I got hit by a car today.

MM- Wishing you all the best. What is CRF? ***Hugs***

Age means nothing. You can only be young once but immature forever!!!! I'm 30 and I feel 18 and am pretty sure I will always feel that way.

I love October. One of my fave months. I love Halloween. We're having a costume party at my barn. I'm either going to be a gypsy or a vampire since I won't have to buy much. Not sure if I'm going to dress up Winnie or not.

October is also my husband and I's anniversary. 1 year of marriage, 11 years together on the 22nd.

In other news. I got a rabbit today. You guys were right..... when you know, you know, and with this guy I knew. Once again, not the breed I wanted but personality is more important. A new topic will be posted soon

also back on the topic of weather. It's 85* here and sunny! well, at least for another 30 minutes and then we'll have some epic thunderstorms for 5 minutes, then it will be sunny again!

zoologist, Congrats!

LPT, I love Halloween too. I met Sammykins ON Halloween. Talk about meant to be. Just a pair of witches recognizing each other.

Since you don't need to buy a costume to be a vampire, does that mean you are up mostly at night and need front dental work?

Totally looking forward to Halloween, it's my favorite day of the year! And October has all the good stuff, i.e. pumpkin spice flavored EVERYTHING (coffee, cappuchino, donuts, beer, waffles, etc).

Good for you! I hate cinnamon, so it's not a good time for me...

Tanlover, you could always get a big box from a hardware store and carry the bale in it, but I guess people might start asking what's in it if you do it regularly. Maybe you guys just need to move to a bunny friendly place

zoologist, congrats on your new bunny! How about some pictures?

RabbitPam -- HAHAHAHAHHAHA. Best. Post. Ever.

But then I read Roberta's and I also laughed hysterically.. You guys are tooooo much! ALSO, my boyfriend just got me to fall in love with Star Trek! He started me on Voyager because he thought I may not like some of the REALLY old ones and because it has a strong female lead!

Zoologist -- CONGRATS!! I LOVEEEE new bunnies and since I already have THREE rugrats now I have to use BB and the bunnies you guys get to satisfy my new bunny cravings! PICS, PICS, PICS!!

Hazel -- we actually were doing that with the carriers and our buns to sneak them back and forth for vet appts during their neuter/spay and their first bunny appts. We got some really weird looks. If it were just neighbors we wouldn't care as much but we have to walk past security people so thats when it starts to look suspicious! And we probably would move to a bunny friendly place BUT my boyfriend owns our condo and doesn't plan on selling and buying a new place for at least 5 more years most likely. Which is funny -- the only reason we even thought of having rabbits was because of that rule. And now we are those "crazy rabbit people".

LPT -- Congrats on your anniversary! 11 years is a longggg time! Today was my boyfriend and I's one year, three month. Hahaha, I never really keep track but I know the date so when it pops up I just remember and since you said something it reminded me! I was actually thinking about being a vamp for Halloween also! I've been obsessed with that series True Blood lately and just read all the books... soooooo....

Hey, I'm new to this forum. I kind of need a little bit of help. I don't know how to post a new thread, but I can't really ask by posting a thread because I don't know how! So commenting on here might be able to help me! Could somebody give me a few instructions? It says on the forums that I need to log in to post threads and view profiles and reply on threads. I am obviously, so where do I go from here? Thanks in advance, sorry if that was confusing... I'm new, and need to learn everything! x

Hi Bunny Girl, Its still early in the AM in the states and a lot of people will be waking up, or heading off to work/school so don't fret if I a the only one to respond for a bit. I am pretty sure I can talk you through this one though. OK The "you must be logged in" warning will always be visible, if your are not sure look in the top right hand corner and if it has the "sign out" option showing then you are still logged in. Next look at the forum banner and click on Forums, the scroll down and select a topic, under the banner for that forum is a little box "Add Topic" click there and start typing... If you posted to this thread then you were logged in at the time. I'll see if I can get the pictorial link from the tech forum.

Just in case no one has checked yet a certain Bun Mum now relocated to Spain has made the trek to an internet Cafe, due to their internet not yet being connected in the new house, to let us know that the messages have been received with great joy and love and RUFUS is doing just fine in his new home and made the trip almost unscathed barring a few hours of recovery before a big binky blitz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rufus survived Live Cargo and is now a Spanish resident !

Welcome, bunnygirl! It's always great to have new BB'ers! We definitely need to see pictures soon of your little bun bun! How old is he and what breed??!?! I'm dying to get to know the little (or big) guy!

Hazel -- I'm not really sure exactly. I asked him the same thing. He told me they can't really force you to get rid of them but they can fine you for having them. They being the Condo Committee that watches over the building and such. He said it has a lot to do with how much they can sell the condos for and such since animals tend to bring down the price of things when they destroy a condo. It still seems pretty silly to me but I know it's a thing because I've seen an old lady (we have a lot of old people here) sneaking her cat back up the elevator in a box! Hahahaha. So I know we're not the only ones. He's looked for the papers (not very hard) because he couldn't remember if you couldn't have cats and dogs or if it said all animals.

My brats are currently BANGING on the bunny condo wanting to be let out -- which they will have to WAIT! They need to learn that I need my first cup of coffee and some BB'ing before it's bunny play time. I had another doctor's appt today which I had to cancel because the condo under us started having a leak in their bathroom... Since we are bunny smugglers I stayed home all day with all 3 locks locked until my boyfriend comes home from work and then I have to go into work 2 hours late!! We have 3 locks but the bottom lock the condo complex committee has the key to all those locks in case they ever need to get into a condo and no one is home -- but there's also another top lock (which we don't think they have a key for but not sure since it's been the lock since my boyfriend moved here) so he's just picking up a new top lock tonight to switch on the door so we KNOW they don't have a key and then I have one of those little chain type locks on too. Hahahaha. We're totally paranoid that someone will find the bunbuns but I'd rather be paranoid than have to pay a ridiculous fine in a house that we own! BLEH.

Just started reading Crime and Punishment last night -- what a good book so far!! Already a 112 pages in! Anyone else read it?

Welcome Bunnygirl! Hope you enjoy your time at BB! =]

TL that's just crazy I'm sorry. Then again I'm not a fan of housing commitee in general. If I want to let my grass to grow to more than inch then I will! Hahaha. I'm only joking. But you get the point. If I own the place I should be able to do what I want with. What is Crime and Punishment? I've never heard of it before. (I really need to find myself another book. I've put off finishing my current book because I know there is nothing to replace it.)

Today's turned out to be rotten so far and it's not even over with. Willow, our fat fiesty cat, decided to full on attack me last night when Skipper was out. Willow doesn't technically belong to me but my bf's mom. It's a long story but we're currently living with them until we move out in a few weeks. Well his mom totally beotched me out last night for "egging" on the cat and "asking" to be attacked by her. I kind of just stared at her dumbfounded. If I hadn't been there when Willow snapped I wouldn't have a rabbit anymore! Skipper would have been a midnight snack for the cat. And she didn't care. Skipper wasn't understanding the situation and got really upset because I removed Willow from the room (poor girl just wanted a fuzzy friend). So Skipper started aggressively digging at me and biting really hard to the point where she drew blood. Let's just say that Skipper was still holding a grudge this morning from last night. Of course, she decided to be a terror in retaliation.

Here is something to kind of laugh over since it's done and over with but it was a little aggrivating at the time. I was supposed to give a presentation this morning for a class and essentially teach how to develop a character to my creative writing class. My teacher had totally forgotten I was going to teach the topic and was going to teach it instead! So trying to just go with the flow I asked if I should just change my topic since she was going to present it. My poor teacher was caught off guard and asked if I was ready. All I have to say I'm frickin' lucky that I decided to just finish up my lesson/presentation yesterday or I would have been screwed. I kind of winged it and did the presentation a little half-assed. I feel so bad for my classmates having to sit there as I stumbled through it. It's kind of making me rethink wanting to be a teacher though. If I did that horribly how can I expect to do well with a group of kids? *Sigh* I think I just need to go and pound my head against a desk for a bit before maybe drowning all thought in a game of Guild Wars. xD

That's crazy, SkippersMama! I would've been mad! Luckily, my boyfriend is allergic to cats so I won't ever have to deal with those and my bunbuns! Poor Skipper, just wanting a furry little buddy! It really does suck having a committee to "run" things. But sometimes it's useful too. Like they deal with putting all new carpets down in the hall and making sure everything runs smoothly. They also take care of things like the fire alarms and because of them we don't have to pay for utilities except for electric and our heat and air conditiioning is included in our monthly condo fees. So it's nice to have to worry about those things.

tanlover, I totally understand your apartment paranoia...I'm in the exact same situation haha. There have definitely been days when I've stayed home expressly for the purpose of bunny-guarding since Peppy isn't on my lease.

I tried picking up Crime and Punishment a few years ago after enjoying another Dostoyevsky, but I just couldn't get into it! I think it's still sitting unfinished on my shelf...I'm kind of finicky with Russian literature I guess, haha. Ever read The Master and Margarita? It's one of my favorites.

I LOOOOOOOVE (love love love love love) Dostoyevsky, and Crime and Punishment is my favorite of his, followed very closely, by The Brothers Karamazov. The Idiot is also rather good. And I agree with Peppypoo: The Master and Margarita is fantastic. Especially the first half when everything goes amok. Russian literature is one of my favorite types of lit.

TL- I know what you mean about housing committees! My boyfriend and I both rent and we haven't told our apartment complex about our animals. Heck, since I moved out of my parents house in '08 I've been keeping animals in apartments with no animal rules. My hedgehog and rats used to live in my closet, my ferrets on the porch. No one noticed a thing.
In our new place they do "inspections" every 6 months. The first time we got that notice I FREAKED OUT!!! We had four cats, a 55 gallon tank and a hedgehog to deal with. Luckily we had a detached garage so we lugged all the cat stuff into the garage in the middle of the night and brought the cats down in boxes the next morning. I made sure to stay home all day, just in case. When they came to inspect all they did was check the sprinklers, test the fire alarm and house alarms, and take a general look around for any damage. They didn't even go into the bedrooms or closets (like they said they would over the phone). Now I don't freak out about inspections. They don't know who we are, they don't carry our lease with them, as far as they know we're allowed to have cats. Technically we can only have two, but my cat and my boyfriend's older cat sleep in the closet during the day so no one ever sees them.

Skipper- don't count out teaching because you floundered on one presentation! Teaching kids is so much easier than teaching peers. I was a camp counselor and we focused on marine science, so we would teach the kids while having fun. SO much easier to talk to the kids than it was to give a report in front of my public speaking class. What age are you looking to teach? I love older kids. I think I would teach 8th grade if I went in that direction.

UCF has a football game on Thursday which means all but one of my classes are cancelled. Hooray for an early weekend!

Zoologist I've taught kids before from four to fourteen. But I'm going to be honest it has been so long since I taught such a young age group that I wonder how I'll do. Since I started my job as a tutor and have been working with adults I feel like I will forget that I'm not working with adults anymore when I transfer to teaching little ones. I honestly haven't decided what I want to teach. I'm so stuck between teaching English to high schoolers or middle schoolers or elementary. I guess I have to figure it out before the end of the year when I transfer.

I used to tutor math/science for high school/college students, and while I enjoyed teaching I don't think I could do it for a living. Props to those that can though! We definitely need some good passionate teachers in our education system .

Oh dear...I originally had plans for this weekend with a few other people, but I just found out that everybody flaked except for myself and one other guy who have already bought tickets. Oh joy, awkwarddd. I hate situations like this haha.

It is beginning to feel like Fall here in the Pacific Northwest! The leaves are changing, I have to keep my window shut at night because it is cold, and it is time to switch from shorts to pajama bottoms! Also, did I mention that it is beautiful?

I have so much going on! I am doing a project with a classmate and we are splitting up topics to do research on. I have to research the common bone fractures and casting. I'm also cramming an Accounting project (That I am doing well in.. how surprising, lol) and 4 other classes worth of things. Good thing that some of the due dates are spread out.

For my Clinical class, we are all required to do Fecal Occult Blood testing. Haha, yeah, you are thinking what I am thinking. My teacher just wants us students to understand what the patient has to go through. I have no issue with it as it is part of my program, but my other classmates do. My teacher said "No, you may not bring a sample of your bunny's poo in for testing!" hahahahaha

Weird. I've never seen the word "occult" as a medical science term before. Huh. Learnt something new. : )

Zoologist -- you should have been on BB when the maintenance people came to check the water and change the air conditioning filters. I was a nervous wreck. Had the bunnies stashed in the closet and I was scared out of my mind they'd shake the cage in anger for being all caged up in a small cage with 3 bunnies. They were such perfect little guys. Didn't make a peep! I was so proud of them! And ewwww, Hahahaha. Sometimes I forget I'm picking up poos because their poos are soo.... just not pooey! LOL. If that makes sense....

Peppypoo -- that IS awkward. I, too, hate when situations like that arise.

Anyone watch the Presidential debate? One of my political friends just made the comment... "Debates are like the superbowls for dorks." Totally agree. We all pull out the Presidential Debate Drinking Game and it's like our favorite night of the year! LOL. I wish I were kidding.... It's shocking when even CNN acknowledges that Romney won the debate and Obama was on the defensive the WHOLE time... WHOOOP WHOOP. Romney needs this! (Don't worry -- I can handle people disagreeing with me so there's no political arguments!)... Just LOVE political and think it's insanely interesting, the Debate that is... Don't judge me too much guys!

Also, I had a dream that I found that book The Master and Margarita? And it turned into a nightmare... Because it turned out to be the book The Master and Margaritas TWO? LOL. I don't think that book even exists.. SUCHHHH a nerd.

There was a poster on FB for a drinking game when watching the debate. Like "chug your drink every time the candidate interrupts the moderator." Glad I didn't do it last night as I would have died, the number of times they both interrupted Jim Lehear.
I won't get into politics since I know people have very strong opinions and it can get ugly fast. But, to me, the debate is just entertaining. I already know who I'm voting for, always known, and it would take a full frontal lobotomy for me to vote for the other option.

tanlover: Hubby and I watched it, or at least most of it, I kept nodding off. We both agreed that Romney did better than Obama, which was kind of a shock to me, normally he has his foot in his mouth. How does your drinking game work? We came up with drinking every time one of the candidates says "Ronald Reagan", but I guess that only works with the republican debates (even though Obama said it once )

I can't find the one on the internet -- I found it on someones facebook but it was a good one! I googled them and there seems to be a MILLION of them that you can find!! ... but for all of you who LIKE politics ... or like making fun of politicians... Here's really funny parodys of the Presidential candidates to Gangnam Style -- hysterical!

I have to admit though, I think the Romney one is much more funny even though he has my vote. It's hysterical!

Oooo, politics. A touchy area for sure. I've been hiding a bunch of people on my newsfeed on Facebook because I don't agree with their views and they tend to be very uh, vocal.

I will be voting on the issues closest to me this election- social and environmental. The economics aspect goes over my head. I believe in equality and investing our money into clean energy so Romney does not have my vote in the slightest.

I won't even go into politics on message boards. It is even against the rules here at BB to speak of it, so I'm not going to

AHHHHHHHHHh, so much homework to do! I got one of the pieces of my Accounting project back and I had to make minor changes, however it took me an hour to fix up -_-;; I think I need a nap but I have so much that needs to be done o_O

Haha Longhairmike!

Oh my goodness Zoologist tell me about it. I had gone to a private school for Elementary and Middle school. The people I had gone to school with were from wealthy families and they knew how to speak English very well and had decent grammar. I transfered to a public high school for high school to save money for college. The English I encountered was...let's just say I had to learn a whole new form of 'English' in order to figure out what they were saying.

You crack me up Tanlover I can't stand politics. The bf and I had actually played video games through it and after it my bf's dad had to ask what we thought. We both looked at each other and were like, "...it was great?" I can't keep up with the crazy biased views that everyone has and I honestly don't have the umph to shift through the lies.

Hahaha Hazel I was going to ask the same question. =p Drinking games are always fun.

Yes, we need to keep the politics off BB.

In my personal life, I am a major political junkie (my FB friends can attest to this), but BB is not the place for discussions that *may* become divisive or argumentative. While the discussion hasn't been bad so far, it's just better to avoid this.

As always, members are free to PRIVATE MESSAGE each other if they would like to have discussions about this or any other topic.

(I'm not deleting the above comments, but BB has been emailed and she may choose to do some editing.)

Thanks for keeping it civil, guys! But as Chacha and Beka said, it's probably best to just keep it off the forums in general .

Skipper - in my opinion public schools really run the gamut. I've never attended a private school in my life, and with 18 years of public education (and counting...) I think I've been absolutely blessed to have attended quality schools. You're right though, some peoples' English...jeez! Especially here in the wonderful world of the Internet, haha.

Peppypoo I honestly think my mother sent me to private school to kind of ingrain and instill her religious views. I don't think it was a bad thing. A lot of my moral view points and who I have become have been shaped by the people I met there despite not necessarily believing everything I was taught. Also, it was to keep me out of the drug/violence filled public schools. I had grown up in a sort of rough area were the public schools around there weren't great. But I do have to agree with you though! Especially when it comes to the difference in education between states. When I moved to Florida to finish up my last couple of years high school I was shocked by how far behind they were in curriculum. Granted their spoken English was better. =p *Shrug* I don't know. I really wish that the public education system got the funding it deserved so that kids can be properly educated.

Forum Rules Section 2 - F
Light discussions and differing opinions about rabbit welfare is fine, but please refrain from getting into debates about God, Government, Animal Rights in general (e.g. like anti-vivisection- for science/medicine, rabbits as food, and about controversial highly charged subjects and groups) or any serious ethical debate.

Since it was brought up already, and I was late in getting here, some of the views are really intertwined in a lot of your posts, I will not go through and edit out the discussions. (Thank you for remaining civil). I just deleted the last post that was focused on politics only.

But as for going forward -- Political discussion to be ended here -- Don't make me hop over and thump you!

This book came in the mail for me today http://www.amazon.com/Seaside-Natur...naturalist and I'm super excited to browse through it! We used some of the examples for summer camp and I wished I coulda sat around all day and read it instead of doing activities with the kids, lol. Now I get my chance! Also next week I start my first class towards becoming a Florida Master Naturalist. I'm taking a 6 week course on Coastal Systems. I'm not sure if I have to take the other two courses (Upland Habitats and Freshwater Wetlands) to be considered a master naturalist, but when I'm through I'll be certified as a master naturalist in that one system. I also want to become a master naturalist in south carolina (my home state) and whatever state I end up in!

I haven't even posted in this thread yet! Sorry to revist an old topic on here xD But I just love dressing up like a jester and have done so for about 3 years now I change it up some every year, though this year it might be the same as last. Mostly because of expense & last year I had ordered a custom made 3 tail, 4ft long jester hat   But I throw some detailed zombie makeup in there so...zombie jester Unfortunately, now everyone knows I do the makeup well so every halloween night, I get stuck doing everyone's makeup -.- I might try to start everyone's makeup earlier and have a cut off time. I use glue, toilet paper & paint. For myself though, I like the look that oil paints give rather than the paint that is probably more safe for your skin haha. I might be participating in a haunted house but im not sure yet

Also, I finally got to let Mimzy out She was so excited to be out again since her spay. Although when I first opened her cage & had everything set out for her to play, she sat there & kinda looked at me as if to say "Don't be playin jokes on me hoomin" I spent her recovery fixing up and doing more bunny proofing. Then set up all her stuff. She has a large box for digging, a tunnel, a cat's hidey house & lots of little toys everywhere. Yup...my room has gone to the bunny!! I think the only thing I own in my room now is my bed and TV xD

Today, my dad found a little puppy at his shop, very skinny, collar, & fleas. He's very sweet! Extremely lovable but I thought it was strange how his collar looked very new, he was clean, but he was obviously too skinny, nails hadn't been trimmed in a while, & his collar was too tight. Also, he knows the command sit, looks about 4 months old. So I'm not sure how long he's been out

Here he is!

We're taking him to the vet tomorrow to see if he's chipped or not. And then just going to search for his owners for a couple days. If we can't find them, he's going to a new home!!

Definitely don't need 4 dogs in this house =/

Sorry, guys... I didn't actually realize it was against the rules but being a political person I can DEFINITELY see the point of such a rule... politics is definitely a subject that can turn nasty! I'll be sure to keep it off the forums from now on... once again, SORRY! <3 If you guys didn't see BullRiders post of his bun who is running for office in the October Picture Thread though, you should all check it out! Now... I think that's a candidate we can all agree on! Binky Bunnies for HOOMAN out there so they all become Bunny Slaves!

LBJ -- I, too, DETEST Honey Boo Boo!

"Don't make me hop over and thump you" Hahahaha. Loveee ittttt.

Zoologist and LBJ -- What's a master naturalist? And how do you volunteer for such a thing? I've never even heard of that! *pokes head back under rock I must live under..*

Mimzy -- that's how my little brats were after their spay/neuter! And that puppy -- he's gorgeous! I want him! Hope he finds his home...

Soooo... my boyfriend and I decided to do a murder mystery party at our house for Halloween! This is the one we're doing ---

http://www.murderatthejuicejoint.com/

It's a murder mystery set in the 20's (Mob STYLE!) WHOOP. So excited for it! Guess I know what I'm going to be for Halloween now! A FLAPPER! Hahahah.

Also, ChaCha I'm pretty sure I saw you on Oxbow's Facebook! I commented on the same post as you (I think)? The one about fall festivities?

Aww LPT, I'm sorry. I remember having to pick up my kitty's ashes and it was pretty sad. Are you going to get a nice thing for them to go in or are you going to sprinkle them?

tanlover - It is a certification program that you can do. Most states have it, I think. Usually they have a class you take where you learn about the plants, animals, etc native to your area. You have to pay tuition and the time it takes can vary depending on how the set the class up. Then you have to volunteer a certain number of hours each year and attend enrichment sessions in order to keep your certification up to date.

I am backkkkkkkk!

Well, the internet decided to stop working on Thursday and it was just the modem. I panicked for a little bit, but I tried not to panic a lot. Most of my homework (like 90%) is online, but I am a little ahead so I did not freak out too much! >__< Ugh!

Have any of you tried starfruit? It is a yummy, lightly sweetened fruit It is really good and has some fiber, vitamins and minerals in it! I hope I can find more at work today!

I'm so happy that I get the early and short shift at work today! Only 9 am - 1:15 pm. I'm going to shopping for Chacha's veggies afterward, along with this week's chapter work and quizzes for one of my classes! I try to pace things out so that I can relax.

I was a bit tipsy on Thursday since I did not have anything to do due to the internet being down, and I requested a happy meal! My boyfriend got off his job around 7 and came over with a happy meal for me HAhahahah! I love that he takes care of me whether I am sick or tipsy. He thought it was funny how I was acting.

Tip One: Dont be nervous

Lol. But I am kinda serious. It's better to be calm so the bunnies don't pick up on your nerves. Just go with the flow. The bunnies instincts will kick in. Goodluck!

Today the boyfriend and I are carving pumpkins! Can you believe he's 31 and has never carved a pumpkin before? It's also the first day it's been nice and breezy so we have all the windows and doors open. The cats and Finn are loving the extra time on the porch as we scooped out our pumpkins. Of course Finn had to wait until I was elbow deep in pumpkin guts to show any interest in eating the pumpkin. So I gave him a little as a treat and now he's relaxing under the chair in the corner. I carved a vampire kitty as my jack-o-lantern and the boyfriend carved a nyan cat. Can you tell we're a cat family

FF -- Don't be too nervous! But I know how you feel... every time we went to get one of my new buns, I was a bundle of nerves! Especially putting them in together before bringing them home... I think I was gonna have a heart attack!

Zoologist -- those sound delicious! This is his first time carving a pumpkin?!?! Holy crap... LOL!

We just got back from the Steelers football game... Great game! But now I'm ready to BB and just lay in bed with hot coffee and Crime and Punishment and just RELAX! I swear... the older you get the more you feel like you never get a chance to relax... Usually when I do have the chance, I'm so worried about other things that I have yet to do that it doesn't even feel like relaxing. Bah!

*sigh* We brought home a potential bun on a temporary trail basis. His name is Melvin. We brought him home because him and Bunjamin were very comfortable together at the rescue, eating and grooming in front of each other. But they have this bow war of who is going to groom who and it's turned ugly since we've been home. Melvin bites Bunjamin (on the nose he's already got nose issues!) And Bunjamin sometimes bats back at him. So Melvin is going back tomorrow and tonight I'm doing referee of keeping them apart (they're in seperate pen/cages of course) but everytime we let Bunjamin out he sticks his nose in the pen, Melvin runs over. They both bow then Bunjamin get bit.

So Bunjamin is out right now in den with me, locked out of his room (he has food, litter box and water) and we're giving them some space. We'll be putting blanket in between them when they are both locked up again though.

I feel so bad for Bunjamin. He bowed at everybun we tried today and gave them all a chance. It's clear he wants a bun. It's just not going to be easy finding the right one. I know it's normal not to be easy but it bums me out no bunnies like Bunjamin the way I do! (yet I guess I should say)

Oh my gosh ChaCha I love starfruit! I know it's silly. But I tried it randomly years ago because of Kingdom Hearts. I was really curious as to what it tasted like. =p

Haha Zoologist! You would fit in with my family with all that soy sauce I see you're using. Literally everything we make has soy sauce in it. xD But oh my gosh I LOVE homemade roasted pumpkin seeds! There so gooodddddd.

TL I don't understand how you can like football. It's just as boring to me as baseball and the rules confuse me as all get out. >.> How are you Liking Crime and Punishment? I'm horribly negligent when it comes to Russian lit. I really need to read more of it.

Oh FF I'm sorry! I can understand your sadness and frustration. It can be very disheartening to see your bun want a furry friend. I see the behavior that you were saying that Bunjamin was displaying in Skipper when she's interacting with my cats, so I can sort of understand. I really hope that you can find Bunjamin a friend! I'm crossing my fingers for you guys and hoping Bunjamin finds a pal.

So I'm emotionally and mentally spent. I had to write a paper on a documentary, Just, Melvin Just Evil, we had watched in my child psych class. I had missed part of the class where we had watched the video so I had to finish watching it at home. The documentary was insane. It kicked my butt. It was so emotionally draining and heart wrenching. I just can't understand the capacity for evil that some people have. I guess I'm just a bleeding heart. Besides that though, this past weekend was fun. My bf had work early Saturday morning and we had to watch his cousin for the weekend since his parents went out of town. So to keep the poor kid from dying from boredom I decided to drag him with me to the farmer's market. I've talked to his cousin before but not really had in depth conversations before with him. I was actually surprised by how much he was willing to talk to me when I took him out. He was rather an interesting person. I was just a little surprised by his view points since they were really different from his parents' and the rest of his family. I got some really beautiful red kale for Skipper to eat and this amazing spoon bracelet! The next pay check I get I think I'm going to get another one for my mom. =]

Skipper and FF, what kind of behavior are you seeing? Finn likes to lay near our male cat Freddie (fatty), so does that mean that he's longing for companionship?

also football is ridiculously boring. as much as I try to understand the rules I can never figure it out. Now roller derby, THAT I can get in to! Just watched the last bout of regionals. It was tied 124-124 with 1.5 minutes left. Texas scored 20 points in that 1.5 minutes and won. it was RIDICULOUS!

Actually, until last year I DESPISED football... my boyfriends family has like 10 seats of season tickets though so I HAD to go -- well, then I decided to try and figure out the game (because there's nothing else to do there) and now that I understand the game I actually like it WAAAAAY more. Before it was all just a bunch of jibberish to me and really annoying, hahahaha. So I feel you guys on that one...

And Pittsburgh is a GREAT city to start liking sports in because everyone is CRAZZZZY about sports here so it's a lot more fun to see everyone around you so riled up and excited. I guess it's contagious you could say!

Crime and Punishment was kinda boring in the beginning but now that I'm halfway through I'm enjoying it a lot more and I'm really intrigued to find out what's going to happen!

I'm sorry about the new bun, FF... you'll find one that you'll all love though! Eventually a bun will come into your home and make his way into your hearts (and Bunjamins) !!!! Just keep up the good work !!!

Hmmm....I don't know how to explain it Zoologist. Skipper gets this desperate air about her when she sees the cats and sprints over to them when she sees them. She is constantly following them around like a puppy saying, "Love meeeeeeeeee". And she'll literally get under foot and squeeze herself in between their legs and the space of their bellies and the floor. And she's only content when they are licking her or allowing her to drape herself across them to sleep. The cats get real annoyed with the clingy needing to be right next to them and sleep with them and burrow into their side. The definitely see her as a petulant, annoying child.

TL I find that a lot of the classic lit starts up that way. I am actually a huge hockey fan and get totally crazy when it's hockey season. Which for some reason everyone finds it as a shock when they find it out. I don't understand why. =p But I do agree that it is fun to see people riled up! I love the atmosphere when you see a live hockey game. It's so incredibly amazing and intense.

LoveChaCha - I have never eaten a starfruit. I don't recall ever seeing it at the grocery store. I have had starfruit juice though. It was extremely popular in Costa Rica. They served it to us a lot.

FF - I'm sorry it doesn't look like it's working. I do worry that you might be expecting too much too soon. When bunnies bow their heads like that, they are demanding to be groomed by the other bun. This most likely means Bunjamin wants to be top bun. If the other bun wants to be the boss, then you have what's happening now. As long as they aren't being super aggressive about it, it may be work waiting a little longer to see if they come to some sort of an agreement.

Well, I had another crazy day. How do I tell my husband that I can't spend time every day going to every hardware store in town? I swear I am never home anymore because the second I get home he wants to go somewhere. How am I supposed to work on homework? =\

Thanks for the well wishes guys. I know that I can't expect magic on the first try. I really wasn't 100% sure he wanted a friend until today. He asked all of them for grooms. Didn't discriminate from the boys or girls. He fell in love with one and tried snuggling her. He leaned into her when she was next to him but she got aggressive and I think tried to nip him. Idk now they're all blurring together. He just needs to give up the grooms and he could be a happy bun! But he's stingy. Even I don't get them. Just the bean-bag, my purse, our bed, sheets, pillows, the carpet, rugs, andys slippers. Hmmm. LOL.

I got really into hockey once (I still will always root for the wings). I also got into football once. Both times were not pretty. So I pretty much ignore it now. If I really watch it I get to into it My sister's fiance actually interviewed someone tonight with the wings about the lock-out I think for his blog. It's pretty famous with Red Wing's fans.

Me and sports don't get along. Mostly because i think there are way better things to spend money on than professional athletes... just think how much better off we'd all be if that money was put into social programs and such.

Ugh, I feel so bad right now... the condo under ours has been complaining of leaks from our bathroom into theirs every time we take a shower... So I got 30-minute notice that they were coming to investigate in our bathroom... Considering the big bunny condo, UGH. I had to put all 3 buns in one cage and put them in our bedroom and so now they're all huddled in the litter box in there shaking. I feel so bad... I had to take their whole condo down and bring it into our bedroom to but definitely didn't have the time to put it all back together and them back in there. I feel so bad for my babies right now -- they probably hate me. Last time the maintenance people came I at least had lots of time to plan to make the move smooth for the buns. Not this time. It was bam, boom... them in their cage and scared as I try crazily to clean all the bunny stuff around the house up.

Now I'm just waiting for them to come (and hopefully be done) so I can let the buns back out so they can stop freaking out. My poor bun babies. I feel like such a big mean momma right now. Ugh.

ARGHHHHHH....   I'm going insane waiting for them to come!  They said 30 minutes and now it's been 2 hours since they said they would be here.... Can't get a break with these guys.  Went down to the office to see when they were going to come and of course, waited 15 minutes and couldn't find anyone to talk to... so now I'm back to waiting and watching Real Housewives of New Jersey.

I swear -- I'm going insane.  Feel SOOO mean to my buns!  I keep sneaking over and peeking in their little cage and offering them craisins.  They're going to be tubby buns by the time the maintenance comes and goes!  Ugh -- my poor little babies.

I told my boyfriend he was dumb for getting a place where you're not allowed animals! Especially when you buy and he loves dogs! But what you gonna do.... except hide my babies. I think he just may have not thought about it much then -- being in college and not really thinking about the future and what not. But... in another sense, if we were allowed animals we would've probably have ended up with a dog and not our baby bunnies (since we only started looking into them because we needed an animal that could be hidden).

They STILL haven't come... this is getting really frustrating. I got up at 8:30 and they said they would come in a half hour, at 9.... and it's now 1:45....I even had to call into work so I could stay home with the buns and I planned on getting some stuff done since I called off but I haven't been able to do much of anything now while waiting for them. I called 2 hours ago and they said he should be around soon... 2 hours ago! Argh!

tanlover, I'm sorry for your babies! But don't worry, they'll forgive you eventually, you might have to bribe them though...

I hate it when people like that don't show up on time. A few months ago we hired a contractor to do some work on one of our trees, not only did they not show up, but we never heard from them again. Waited for them all day, of course.

Of course! Maintenance people seem to be the WORST with time -- your case really is the worse!

They FINALLY came and by the time I got my buns out ... boy were they NOT happy. Mainly my girl. I had put a sheet halfway over the cage with the back open when the guy came just in case they had to venture into the bedroom... And by the time I came back in they had half the sheet inside the cage! LOLOLOL.

But boy, when I let my girl out... I got more than a few thumps or two. She practically thumped her whole way back out to the dining room (where their play area is) and then thumped when I was putting her condo back up (I guess I wasn't going fast enough for her liking) and then she thumped AGAIN when I took her towel and moved it over 2 inches!

A few big juicy craisins seemed to cure her mood though! Yaaaaaay. The buns LOVE me again!

I feel I had sort of a breakthrough with Bosse today. Been sitting on the ground petting him for about two straight hours now haha! I sat down with him to have some one on one time with him, and I started petting him as usual. He lay down and he seemed to relax in a way he hasn't relaxed while being pet before. After a while he got up, groomed for a bit (ew, hoomin smell), hopped about for a bit, then came back to me and bonked my arm. I first thought he wanted to play, but he then started licking me, and then started bonking me with his nose again, and almost nipped me (!). That is when i realized that he was litterally demanding more pets and got mad I was taking so long! Before he has only happily recieved pets, he has never actually activly demanded them. Made me so happy. After a while he actually flopped out besides me while i pet him! Heart = melted.

Bosse actually thumped at my cooking today, three or four times! I don't think he likes the sizzling sound from the frying pan, but he's been okay with it before I just gave him a little piece of a banana to distract him, worked like a charm

Svandis that is the best thing ever!!! Belle has just started coming up to me for pets over the past week and now every night she comes up and snuggles into my side while I lie and watch things on my lap top. As long as I'm giving her pets she'll lie there for hours !

I recently discovered something that Belle is scared of! I can't be bothered typing the whole ordeal up, so I'll just C+P what I put on facebook !

"Belle was thumping her foot while playing in my room which means she's either frightened or pissed off. I looked around a bit, didn't see anything that would be causing her to do it so I went back to browsing once she had ran into her pen. Two minutes later something caught my eye. The biggest spider I have seen in a very long time, if not ever. Not only was it pretty much the size of a glass, it was on my clothes and therefor un-glassable. Took about five minutes (half an hour in my petrified mind) of it burying deeper into my clothes before it decided to make a surprise appearance from the bottom of the pile and run - faster than Usain Bolt - for Belle's pen. After about five attempts of getting it under the glass (whilst I frantically leaped from foot to foot) I finally caught the little eight-legged demon and it is now sitting at the far side of my room under a glass. I'm too frightened to lift it away so it'll need to be my new room mate until tomorrow night. Why do I have to be so scared of spiders? "

That was two nights ago and my mum only just came up and took him away tonight!!! I feel bad for the little guy though - he must of been hungry under there and the space wasn't great either. I feel guilty for leaving him but I was just too scared to deal with him !

Edit: To all of you Aussies out there you would have been cracking up at me.  Your spiders are 100 times bigger and there isn't a single spider in the UK that can hurt you haha!  I saw a dead huntsman while I was in Aus and it was definitely about 5 times the size if not more, so yeah... it was dead though.  Also - I named him Simon.

IsabellaRobyn - Aww, that sound soo cozy. It's times like these I wish I had Bosse in my room. He is free range, but he won't walk on the hardwood floor, so he can't get to my room I've been planning on getting those long mats and make a path for him to my room! I'd love for him to come and lay in bed with me

Haha, sounds like you have your own personal spider detector!

Okay so A LOT is going on right now. But I'm pretty sure we're coming home with a new bun tomorrow. We're going to the humane society to see her early tomorrow before my class. We set up everything we need at home just in case. She's at a shelter that kills unwanted rabbits if they aren't adopted. The rescue we are working with suggested I look there. I had no plan on looking today since Melvin just left but my curiosity got the best of me. And now that I know she's there and in danger of being put down I can't stop thinking about it. I haven't actually seen her though. Just her pet finder listing. She's approx. 1 year old (idk if they're right about this). Spayed. They described her as a Himalayan/dwarf mix. She's about the right size, gender, and age that we preferred so that's why we chose her over the 4 boys they have too. If it doesn't work out, the rescue I work with is going to help us re-home her while we foster. I'm not sure if I'll get attached. Probably though. We do hope she will bond with Bunjamin. She is also being housed in separate side of house in a condo we built for the new perpective bun. She'll also receive a vet check from our vet before we even introduce her to Bunjamin. I'm so nervous. I'm horrible at making big decisions like this but me and Andy both fear for her being at that shelter. (I fear for the other buns but it is better than them being released into the wild). And Andy seems pretty sure.

And Svandis, you'll always remember that moment too

OMG, I hate my husband right now. We have spent the last few weeks looking at tile. It is getting ridiculous. Anyway, he picked out the most beautiful tile for the floor (bathroom). It is a little pricey, but with such a small space it isn't a big deal (~ $160 and he will put the tile in himself). Fine fine. Well, we can't find tile for the shower to go with it. I was wanting to mix and match and not be too matchy matchy. After many hours and countless samples, he found a tile that coordinates so nicely and it is BEAUTIFUL! OMG, this tile is gorgeous. Problem is, it would cost about $800 to do the shower in it. =O I just about fainted. We don't have that kind of money to invest in the shower! I am so tired of looking and after seeing this wonderful tile, nothing else appears to be a satisfactory equivalent at a cheaper price. **sigh

Isabella! Haha! I get rid of crickets and spiders and daddy long legs and all these weird creepy crawly insects, and I've been in Australia for 8 months. We moved here from England, my parents and brother. I'm a minor, so I can't reveal my age, but I'm old enough to be on here and young enough to have a paper route. I used to be scared stiff of spiders, but they're ok now. Just squish em or glass em. No issues! Haha! They can't hurt you! I'm going to have to deal with a whole lot more having a bun in my room though! x

Depends what it is going to cost in fuel really... Has he checked to see if the place that has it doesn't have an outlet or affiliate closer to your area ?

Oh there are definitely some here that can hurt you, it's just knowing what they look like and making sure that the environment is unattractive. Summer is White Tail Spider season, they are the Australian equivalent of the brown recluse spider and set up a very nasty flesh eating condition in animals and humans. However, they are nomadic and live primarily outside. This being said they also find piles of clothing and clutter attractive (which is another reason I moved my buns to the front of the house and put their things up on shelves) and quite a few people have been bitten picking up things left too long on the floor or putting on shoes that haven't checked. A friends daughter was bitten on the bum last year, always leaving her clothes on the floor, pulled some shorts off the pile and put them on without checking and the WTS sank in the fangs. Needless to say Marg's daughter no longer leaves who clothes on the floor and is now almost anal about hanging things up and putting things away.
White tails are brown and leathery, they have a bulbous rear end with a sort of tuft and a tiny white mark that is often not visible. They do not spin webs and travel by walking about and hunting smaller insects and other spiders, they usually stake out piles of old leaves and garden refuse so its always wise to wear gloves if pulling weeds in Summer. When they lay eggs they fix them to a wall of surface with a gauzy web like silk. They are not prolific but it is a good idea to watch for them. The big black ugly spiders you will see soon are completely harmless, they are the black house spider and unfortunately for them they are one of the favourite foods of the White Tail and the Red Back, and the Red Back is considered tasty by the Daddy Long Legs. Red Backs pack a nasty bite but generally it is not fatal unless they bite a very small child or someone who is already weakened by illness. The only really bad thing about the black house spider is they do not handle the really hot temps late in Summer and tend to fall randomly from their lofty webs without warning. Oh, an also not harmless but very likely to freak someone out are the big fat garden spiders. Spindly bodies, often coffee and white markings with big round abdomens, DON"T STEP ON THEM if they are inside. They carry their live young in their stomachs and stomping on them causes an explosion of baby spiders that stampede in all directions away from the body of their Mother.
If bitten by a WTS or a Red Back seek immediate medical attention, the WTS bite will be treated with very strong antibiotics, the sooner you start them the better and the RBS with an antivenom, you will be very sick for several weeks but you won't die. Snakes are the other thing to watch for during Summer. Where we are it is Dugites and Tiger Snakes. Both are highly venomous. Hopefully I haven't terrified you and I can assure you snakes are usually more scared of us than we are of them. Do some research, know what types of places they like to sleep and move about in. The more you know about them the less likely your are to have an unfortunate encounter.

OMG Tanlover, that sucks!

That also happened to my dad and I. We live on the 3rd floor of an apartment and apparently my bathroom tub was leaking water into the downstairs apartment!

When is your lease up? I live in a pet friendly apartment complex and the landlord thinks that Chacha is 'a caged animal' which is bull, hahahah! However, both my dad and I know that we will not be getting the deposit back. It comes with having a bunny! I warned the Mister of that when we get our own place and he is fine with it, lol.

I'm not sure if I mentioned this, but a few weeks ago, I found a squirrel attached to the sun room screen, trying to find its way into the apartment! The maintenance people came and replaced the screen a day later. Well, guess what? The squirrel tried to get into the apartment again - via the same screen window! GUHDLJSLKDFJSLDK!!!!!! o_O Good thing that it is getting cold here and I do not leave the windows open anymore.

I just spent 3 hours working on my Accounting project. I think I have a little of it left.. I hope T____T My brain hurts so much!

Is it bad that I'm thinking of getting another bunny? I stupidly looked at websites and saw a gorgeous broken black mini lop with stunning blue eyes, sadly (for me) he already found a home. I think I dove in the deep end with an angora as a first rabbit so going back to a short haired bunny... for now at least.

Hi Toady,
No not bad or strange....Missing Loki would make it all the more likely that your thoughts would turm to another rescue bun to honour him.
If you feel the time is right then I say go for it.
When my old ginger (x)tom cat passed away many years ago now I honoured him a few weeks later by adopting Bilbo from a cat shelter, I know Toffee would have liked that and Bilbo has since been wonderful, cuddling and doting on all new additions as they came as if they were his own (even the buns)

I agree Isabella, Hate the things. Had hair down to my waist a few years ago and was towelling off after a shower and thought a lock of hair had hook on my shoulder so I tossed my head and this enormous white tail fell onto the bathroom floor with a loud plop. I had a broken ceiling vent I was in the process of repairing and it must have come though that and dropped into the towel. It was fat brown and leathery. I grabbed the first aerosol can I could find and gave it the hairspray treatment so the bloody thing got all pissy and charged me. Then I found a shoe !!!!!! Guess who won that stand off.

Oh my goodness!!! Haha that's so scary! I think I would have fainted if a spider ran at me . My dad lived in Aus when he was younger in the middle of nowhere and he told me a story once about the lady he was staying with. She went to the toilet and didn't check under the seat and got bitten and the closest neighbour was like an hour away I think and she had to get a helicopter to hospital and nearly died!!! Spiders are so scary haha.

Good luck FF!!!

FF  i hope it works out for you! Kill shelters are no cool, gives you a sense of urgency to save that poor bunny's life. I really hope it's a good fit.

LBJ sorry but I think that's a little crazy for some tile!!  Unless it's in a big city and you can plan on making a romantic weekend out of it. Can you use that tile as an accent maybe? I remember when my parents were remodeling their house. Countless childhood hours WASTED sitting in a paint store or flooring store. Sigh. So many cartoons I could have watched

ChaCha, our cats like to chase lizards up the screen on the porch. They'll sit by the door crying until I let them out and then ZOOM, they're at the top, looking down like "where'd that pesky lizard get to?"

Nothing wrong with that, Toady. I picked up Finn exactly one week after Tofu died. Didn't give me too much time for grieving, but I missed having a bunny pal around.

I took Finn for his neuter yesterday to a very reputable vet. I LOVE the guy! he's done neuters on my rats, operated on my hedgehog, knows his stuff.... or so I thought. I asked him to check Finn's anal glands and clean them if needed. He gave me a weird look and told me he didn't think rabbits have anal glands. I said they did and they could get clogged so if he could check them that'd be great. I don't know if he did, I've been trying to let Finn rest but I thought that was weird he didn't know a common thing about rabbits!  At least he's good at chopping off.... well... you know. Also he didn't charge me for the check up before hand.

On another Finn note he FINALLY peed in his litter box in his pen. I put a folded towel on one side and a bed on the other so he had no choice. yay! now if only I could get him to poop in it we'd be well on our way to a house rabbit.

So I think it's safe to officially say that....

MY BOYS ARE BONDED

woot woot! They have spent 3 nights and 4 days together in the pen now, with no fighting and they are even cuddling and licking each other. They like to pretend that they aren't lovers, but I catch them snuggling whenever I pop my head into the rabbit room

For some reason Nate's litter habits have improved....? baha he's been really hit or miss with peeing in the box since his neuter, but there's been no pee outside the boxes and barely any poops. So weird, not that I'm complaing though!

Roberta, Zoologist - No need to worry, we got it all figured out. My husband called this place that is 7 hours away. They are going to ship it to us. They have the tile on closeout there, it is only $1.88 a square foot. Add the shipping on and it isn't too bad (like $2.50 a square foot). Compare that to the $10 a square foot this store where we live was trying to sell it to us for!

Oh my gosh Roberta! I don't know how you do it. I'm deathly afraid of spiders. I was freaking out as I was reading your post. That would flip me out. We have brown recluses and banana spiders where I live. I went walking in a friend's backyard and there was a forest of banana spiders. Their webbs were at least 7 feet tall and 6 feet wide. It was insane.

FF I'm glad you guys got Bunjiman a friend! =]

Zoologist I bet Finn is doing well. Healing vibes to him. =]

Malp I'm so glad that your boys are bonded!

Monkeybun it makes me giggle to say that you're taking the weekend off for Rift. I've been playing Guild Wars to keep me occupied until Halo 4 comes out. =p You better believe I'm going to the midnight release for the game. xD

Skippers mama, you're silly! Those banana spiders are harmless. I love them! I would never touch one (ICK!) but they are beautiful. They're really called golden orb weavers if you wanna look up stuff about them.

Svandis -- I'm so happy for you! It's so heart-warming when something happens (little or big) and it feels like our buns are bonding with us more. SUCH an incredible feeling! <3

Isabella -- that's horrifying. I'm deathly terrified of spiders. Well, okay...insects in general! LOL. I probably would've screamed...and then cried...and then screamed again... and then given the bunny the glass to catch him with so I could hide in the bunny condo...

FF -- I'm so excited for you.. Again! Even if the fit isn't perfect, you should be happy knowing you will be saving this little girls life either way! I hope her and Bunjamin bond well! And fall instantly in bunny LOVE! <3 I'll be keeping my fingers crossed and sending bonding vibes your way!

Roberta -- I think that whole paragraph of spiders made me have a nervous breakdown. Oh. MY. God. I would seriously be institutionalized if I ever lived in Australia... Omg. And I've always wanted to visit there so bad. I would literally DIE if I stepped on a spider and a bunch of babies just started pouring out of their stomach. UGH. I feel like I need to go take a shower. Because I can feel them crawling all over me... BAHHH.

ChaCha -- my boyfriend owns the condo... UGH. Sooo no new place for us for AT LEAST 3 more years (since usually 5 years is how long you need to stay with a mortgage on a place for it to be worthwhile according to the BF).

Toady -- New buns are always a joy and make me crazy EXCITED... even when they're not mine. I'm happy that you're thinking about it -- they're such wonderful furry family members!

Malp -- CONGRATS, that is GREAT news!!!!!! It's always so rewarding when you see them and how happy they are together! So happy for your buns!

Roberta - Ok...I didn't know that...and neither did the parents....from now on, no squishing spiders. I don't want babies everywhere....eughhh! Icky! Crickets and daddy long legs are ok though. Cup your hands over a cricket and take it outside, and grab a daddy long legs the same way, or by a leg! Haha! Hate spiders though....dad usually has to do those. Though ill catch them in a glass or mortine spray em. Cockroaches can survive nuclear attacks, so what the heck is in a can of mortine? (It will kill cockroaches...)

Sorry, I wasn't very clear, Mortine is a bug spray, it'll kill all sorts of spiders and insects and even a small snake. What the heck is in it if I will kill cockroaches! O.o

bunnygirl - Not sure what is in that, but most insecticides work by inactivating certain enzymes in the insect's body. Some involve neurotransmission, so if that is messed up then the insect will die. Cockroaches do, however, have a higher resistance to nuclear radiation. A lethal dose for them is about 15 times greater than that of humans. Nuclear radiation mostly affects cells that are growing and dividing.

LBJ - Thats Great about the tiles, you must be very relieved and satisfied now... You should send pics of the completed bathroom.
Re: Spiders - Thankfully the fat exploding kind are completely harmless and rarely come indoors. I found out the hard way and my flat mate at the time didn't not shout his warning fast enough. The foot came down and thousands of timy garden spiders smaller than poppy seeds went everywhere. Most of them made it outside I think before I drenched the carpet in bug spray. I felt rather guilty afterward I should have just lifted it on same paper and flicked it out the door.
Bunnygirl - whilst we do have some nasty biteys down here most of them are timid or in places where you are unlikely to encounter them. Snakes and spiders are a risk but fore warned is fore armed and having some knowledge will most likely mean you will never be in harms way.
Oh we also have some spectacular raptors - hawks, falcons and eagles, especially our end of Perth, so outdoor playtime should be fully supervised and preferrably some where not overly visible from the air. They are beautiful birds though and you will soon come to know when they are about and their favourite times of day. A few people have told me over the years that their free range backyard rabbit had mysterioulsy disappeared from a secure yard. Not so much a mystery really.

I would love to see pics also, LBJ!

Roberta, you're totally giving me the shivers! Ugh, spiders and all these other little bugs and insects and snakes. UGH.

So,.... for anyone interested -- I'm FINALLY uploading some pics of my three little Tan buggers playing together. I swear though, every time I try and catch them on camera they go immobile and try and convince the world they're not hyper... like it's a secret I'm not allowed to reveal... Anyways, in about the 5 minutes of film, I finally got a few binkies, rolls, and a Bunny 500! I probably won't upload it for another 15 minutes but I'm going to title it "Terror Tans at Play!" if anyone is interested in watching!

Hahahaha.

Nerrrrmal --- Awwwwwwwwww. He's a celebunity. <3

I swear, I'm running on absolutely no energy. And I don't even know why. I'm drinking my cup of coffee and thinking how much my entire body aches. My boyfriend made me get our flu shots on Sunday, hahaha. He was scared we'd transmit the flu to the bun buns if we got it. He's worse than me! I love how much he cares about them though!

FF -- I'm sooooo curious to how the new bun is coming along?! You got him today, right? Or am I wrong? I could be wrong... I read it last night when I was half asleep. I NEED TO SEE PICS OF THIS LITTLE GIRL! <3 Lots of pics! Sending lots of vibes your way!

TL- we got her yesterday. She is settling in nicely. Is comfortable around us (either that or really scared and submissive). She loves pellets and her nose goes straight to the bowl as soon as my hand leaves the cage. She eats hay and veggies well too and so far only poo's outside the box not pee. Yay!

BG-- too cute! You're killing us! I LOVE helicopter ears!

TL- take deep breaths. Remember how much destruction your 3 makes. Imagine another. And shake it off! LOL

I didn't wanna ruin the excitement of the new bunny-ness but my "good" knee I say "good because it hasn't had the 3 surgeries my other has- well it decided it didn't want to stay in place and my knee cap was out all yesterday. I did all the normals, ice, elevate, rest, pain meds, repeat. So it's a lot better today but it's still not 100%. I'm getting slightly concerned. I have no time for surgery anytime soon and I want to keep this knee as natural as possible for as long as possible.

FF, we've been studying all about hearts recently. Kind of scared since it's quite a competitive field, but of course my feelings regarding this subject may change after the exam LOL. I'll see!

A couple of weekends ago I had some college friends visit overnight, and one of them had to sleep on the floor because of limited furniture at my apartment. Peppy, being free roam now, had lots of fun...I think my other friend took this picture around 6am .

Bunnygirl I love Apollo's little loppity ears.

Peppypoo that is too funny!!!

So today was much better than yesterday. Not on great terms with one of my co-workers. I'm technically the senior person on staff and the new girl that was just hired thinks she's tough stuff. She thinks because she's "smarter" than me she can treat me like I'm inferior. Not to mention the fact that I'm short and seem younger than I am, she treats me like a child. >.< I may not be able to do Calculus and all that fun stuff but I'm pretty darn smart. I think she should remember that in the future I maybe teaching her kids.... Any way, my point. Yesterday she started talking about how she shot a turtle that came up on her property from the lake they have in the back of it. And in Florida it's illegal to kill turtles. Not to mention inhumane. The poor turtle was pregnant and they took the eggs and used them to bake a cake! I was furious! I'm a huge animal advocate and have been donating money to the WWF since I was a kid. I got upset and told her what she did was wrong. She didn't care. She didn't feel bad for hurting the turtle! It was just sick. She then went on to kind of mock me for liking animals and being too sensitive. Then made this big stink about my not being able to understand math jokes and that I was silly for hanging on a rabbit website. Excuse me. But I got the jokes but just don't find them funny. And don't mock the bunnies and their slaves! They'll come back to hurt you. ;p Sorry for the vent guys just needed to get it out of my system.

You have no clue how much I want to! They want the person's name and address if you're going to report and how recent the killing has been. I don't know for a fact when it was done. But I would still like to aware the state of the threat they pose. They used the excuse of the turtle hurting their dogs to kill it. A turtle will not hurt a dog or any person. I have tried getting close to one to photograph them and they run as soon as they can. They're very timid sweet creatures.

Skippers Mama - That's terrible! I don't see how people can be so cruel to animals! If she has dogs, I would think she would know. I'm guessing maybe her dogs are just outside all the time? I would be so lonely and miserable without that love of a pet right there. I have a turtle and they are far from aggressive and run if they feel threatened. Mine only bites when he thinks my finger is food. But if he's out of the water (his comfort zone) he will run and hide. Even wild turtles have seemed quite timid in my opinion.

Peppy - Love that pic! So silly xD

This puppy my dad brought home has been with us longer than expected. A couple days ago, my cousin decided he would do a "trial" thing with the dog. So he took him for a day and a night to see how it goes. I guess it didn't really work out, so he's back at our house again =/ As cute as he is, and fun to pick up all the time, I really hope we find him a home soon! 4 dogs is just too much to handle, even with the oldest never coming out except to potty. He's started to teach one of my dogs a few bad habits. The puppy will bark at every little noise and every door that opens. Which then gets my male dog all riled up and barking...and then my girl dog starts barking haha. It's like a domino effect!
My male dog (Bruce) likes the puppy a lot, they follow each other everywhere and play well together. But the girl, Madison, gets very jealous. I think she thinks he's taking Bruce away from her =/ She snaps at him here & there so we keep having to scold her. Can't wait till he goes to a new home!

Mimzy you have a turtle too! =] We had saved a turtle from the road and she was so small we couldn't leave her for the birds to eat. We live in an area that is a bird sanctuary so there's a ton around. She's an extremely common turtle that is legal to have as a pet so we kept her in a small fish tank. A few years later she's huge and about the same size as Skipper. ;P

I have not done any sort of homework all day because I have been resting. But my body needs all the rest that it can so I can have my strength back to do my homework tomorrow!

I've been in bed all day, drinking liquids and eating soup, some NyQuil is not bad either, lol.

Fun fact: You can kill cockroaches by mixing sugar and baking soda together. they eat it and it explodes in their bellies. I used to sprinkle it on dishes when I was too lazy to do them when I was living on a state park

Fun fact #2: Turtle eggs can't boil, and people use them in cakes because the cake won't spoil as fast as cakes with chicken eggs. That's why people used to harvest sea turtle eggs back in the day.

Skipper what kind of turtle do you have? i'm assuming it's a water turtle. I have a red eared slider I got before I knew they were invasive. She's pretty cool. I was talking to a lady at the vet office who said she "rescued" a baby soft shell and raised it, then put it back in the wild. I didn't have the heart to tell her she probably killed that poor turtle by feeding it from a young age. She legit thought she was doing something good :/

Today has been a busy day! I took Finn's halloween pictures, and put the hedgehog in some of them. my computer charger died so I drove half an hour to the apple store to buy a new one just to find out really my computer wouldn't take a charge so I spent $80 for nothin'! I got my hurr did for the first time in ages (ombre for those interested). oh, and facebook drama has torn a bunch of friendships apart.
a derby league mate of mine posted a poorly worded opinion on a popular political topic. It escalated into an argument between her friends and her derby friends. In the end she decided to delete the 50 something derby girls off of facebook since "she keeps offending us". None of us were offended by her opinion.... just how it was worded. All of us worded our responses very respectfully and her friends were attacking us and saying rude things. It made for a very awkward night at practice and now people who were never in the original discussion are offended and upset by her actions. We're not sure if she's going to quit or what because everyone feels like she owes us an apology. At any rate, she was supposed to watch Finn when I went out of town but now I don't want her to so I have to find someone new. ugh.

I used to have two greek land tortoises. They had been living at the only "proper" zoo in Norway (the animals are very well taken care of), but they decided they weren't going to have them anymore, and the chef at the ship where my dad worked (he's a captain in the Northern sea), bought them from the zoo. I don't know where the zoo got them from, but I think they were saved from a bad home. They were both disformed due to calcium deficiency we believe. One had a massive undershot/protrusion (?), like when the lower jaw is further out than the top jaw. The other one was shaped like a heart!
I loved them, but I was too young (12) to give them the proper care, and my parents were very ignorant to tortoises. We had them for about 1,5-2 years until we gave them away to a friend of my mother (who I now know is totally irresponsible), but I don't think she has them any more :/ Would love to know what happened to them..

SkippersMama -- that's awful. Every one makes comments about me hanging on a bunny forum to but I'm always like whateverrrr. Rabbits are hard to care for animals. Anyone who has a rabbit understands... and no one understands why I'm so obsessed with my buns but it's partially because you have to be! They're so sensitive (stomachs) and you have to form a bond with them to really be able to enjoy them... My boyfriend always picks on me about how often I'm on here but he's constantly coming on my account and looking at the forums and such too! And he thinks it's good that I'm so in tune with the buns and making sure they are getting what they need. Plus, he told me the number one rule of forums is people HATE when you ask a ton of questions but then never help others out about the things you've learned. And since I'm always asking questions, answering and commenting gives me a LOGICAL reason to always be on here! I love BB! And I'm totally not embarrassed by how much I'm on here either! I tell everyone! Hahahaha. She sounds like a very ignorant person, about everything not just animals. I hate people like that.

Peppy -- I LOVE that pic too! My buns will only come up to strangers if they have craisins or nibble rings! Hahahahaha. Except Tanger. He's too curious to not check someone out when he sees them.

Mimzy -- Awwww, the poor little guy! It's always hard bringing animals into your home and seeing how the other ones react. 4 dogs is a lot! I so wish we could have dogs at our place! We want a little one sooo bad.

Hope you feel better, ChaCha! I just came down with my SECOND case of the shingles in less than a year -- and it SUCKS. My whole body feels so achy and it feels like sharp needles poking you in the spot where the rash comes. Ugh, sucks sooo bad. And having to work makes it even worse!

Zoologist -- I hate having friend issues! It really sucks. I just decided not to be friends with my best friend of 5 years a couple of weeks ago and I feel so lonely now... but I feel like it's for reasons I have to stick up for myself on. I've been trying to befriend people at work but it's really not going well... the two people I've been trying the hardest with -- something always comes in the way. I've invited them over to hang out a million times and they never will, we've hung out a few times but it's only going to dinner and drinks. They'll never just come to hang out and you know, do girly things! Idk why. But then half the time we make plans to do other things and they'll cancel out on that too... soo idk.

Can't wait to see Finn's pictures either! And I've also been meaning to do something different with my hair, I always do layers... but I've been doing it like ALL my life. I have long and really dark brown hair. Isn't FF a hairstylist? If I remember correctly? Maybe she'll have some ideas for us!

So excited - sooooo Fleury (my boy who has been having litter box issues) came hopping out of his cage today for play time and I said Fleury, Litter! And he hopped right in his box and peed! SUCH A PROUD, HAPPY BUNNY MOMMA TODAY! I feel so much more accomplished now that our issues are being solved in a healthy way for him and us! And he's back to being his loving HOOMANS self... which makes me even happier. He was becoming so distant from us. I'm so proud of him!

So I have to go home for Christmas -- only for a day or two -- but we've decided to bring the bunnies with us! We hadn't planned on it before and wasn't really sure what we were going to do because Sidney was so skittish but since her spay she's been GREAT and has really come out of her shell. She's still really skittish of other people but really is so much better and trusting so we've made the decision to take them with us rather than depending on someone else to take care of them for us. We only have one person who we trust to take care of them and they go away every Christmas for a week so I know she wouldn't be around. When the time comes, I'm sure I'll be asking everyone a BUNCH of questions and thoughts on the process. Im happy that we're not leaving them though! When we left for vacation, I knew it was the right decision, but I was leaving them with someone who is very rabbit-savvy since her son has a rabbit and she does volunteer work with rabbits but even then I had to have updates EVERY day and was worried but happy...

TL that's exciting! My family loves bunjamin. And I'm sure they'll start loving new bun too once they meet her.

Skipper. I wanna punch that girl but I'm proud of you for not doing so. You can't win with people like that. Best thing to do is avoid them as much as possible. Really deep down her picking on you is she is probably jealous of you or has a major insecurity issues.

I was so excited last night. We moved in August and the city we moved to has a produce market! It's like 10 minutes away and has so many veggies and fruits. They looked so much better than the regular grocery store. I got 4 heads of lettuce, 3 bushels of cilantro, 1 bushel of parsley, and 3 apples for about $6.50.

ChaCha I hope you feel better! Sleep and rest up. =]

Zoologist that is probably the number one reason as to why I am never on my Facebook. It just starts drama and is silly. I hope you find someone to watch your bun! I know it can be nerve wracking not knowing what is going to happen to them.

Tanlover I'm glad Fleury is doing better! =]

Thanks guys for being so sweet! It really helps me feel better. I do have something funny though that happened this morning.

I had Skipper out for her morning run and she wanted pets. Well, while she's running around I sit on the floor with her and put on my makeup with a little hand mirror. She decided she wanted pets so I put my makeup aside and start petting her. I finally told her I had to stop so I can finish getting ready. She stares at me for a few good seconds before turning to my book that I have lying next to me. She deliberately looks me and then the book and at me again. She stretches her little mouth forward and starts nibbling at the book basically saying with her eyes, "You made me do this". xD She's so silly and naughty. So of course I start petting her again and she stops the mischief.

Zoologist I forgot to add earlier. I'm honestly not sure. It's hard to place her. But she looks like the turtles that are sold in the Petco near us. My theory is that the two turtles that my bf and his sister had as kids that had escaped from the pond in their backyard had gone to the pond behind the house and bred back there to make Frankie. =p Or maybe I'm just being silly.

FF that sounds like a good deal. =]

TL I thought I might be able to save this book from her but she was insistent on ruining it.

Mama, post a pic! I was on a turtle forum for yearsss and worked at a marine science center so I'm pretty well versed in florida turtles

I start my master naturalist class today. HOORAY! I don't know what to wear :/

Also I'm frustrated with Finn. He was doing really well with the litter box for one day. Just one. Then I cleaned it and now it's back to being a bed. He's taken to peeing on the towel I put next to the litter box to discourage him from peeing in that spot >_< it worked for a day... ugh.

oh, and I found my local pet feed store is about 5 miles from my house. I went out there last night and they carry SO MANY OXBOW PRODUCTS! And they're cheaper than petsmart, so I'm very excited! They have GINORMOUS bags of hay.

Zoologist I'll have to do that. =p She's really big now since we've had her a few years. She was about the size of a silver dollar when we found her. She was out in the road and my bf had almost ran over her just thinking she was a leaf. Good thing he didn't! How in the world did you find a turtle forum? I feel kind of bad because I'm not too sure as to what sort of care I should be giving Frankie since I can't pinpoint what type she is and there isn't much information on turtles. We are talking about trying to get her a bigger tank and building an area with some sand/plants so it's just not all water with some rocks. But we're having issues trying to find a nice high powered pump that will keep her water clean all the time. Maybe once you cleaned the litter box it was too clean? Like the smell of his urine was erased and forgot what it was supposed to be used for?

I'm back home (at my parents), seing we got a long weekend off school. First time i've been home for more than a day since August. Don't have to go back to school until Thursday I live about 1,5-2 hours away (depending on traffic). I braught Bosse with me He did great in the car, but he took forever to even venture out of his travel cage after we got home. When he got out, he barely looked around befor he went back in. I hope he'll like the habitat we made him haha, it's so.. homemade, lol. I'll post a pic later in the picture chat. Currently we're just leaving him alone, to let him get used to his new habitat.

I'm babysitting my little sister atm, it's like I never left haha.

So - I don't know if I have ever contributed to the chats but wanted to ask y'alls opinion because I know you are all honest.

My boyfriend and I have a favorite sushi restaurant in San Diego that we visit usually once a week. So we go out to dinner tonight and are sitting there and my boyfriend very calmly says "don't move". I'm thinking "OMG there is a spider on me" (and actually thought of the spider story going on here! hey, just because i don't contribute doesn't mean i don't occasionally follow along). No....it's a GIANT cockroach on the wall behind me...I'm talking maybe bigger than 3 inches long. Without causing a scene, my boyfriend gets up and grabs our waitress to tell her. The waitress gets the chef (of all people) who comes out with a kitchen blowtorch (not making this up...) and is banging around looking for the thing, finds it, lights it on fire, and it comes crashing down in a fire-y death onto the table (again, not making this up....). The waitress thank us for not making a scene as everyone in the restaurant is semi-staring at us thinking "what in the world did those people do?". So then - they bring us our check and there is no discount, no apology from the chef, nothing.

The waitress was nice and all...but this is a place that we frequent VERY regularly so a lot of the employees either recognize or know us. So my question is - do we brush it off as a bad experience? do we never visit again? or do we maybe write the owner? i understand where there is food there are bugs - that isn't my issue...I work in Marine Science and some of the stuff I handle on a daily basis is 10x worse than a cockroach. It's basically the entire way the situation was handled from the blowtorch to the non-apology.

Just thought I'd ask you guys!

BMT (I almost called you Lola ) I personally wouldn't go because I have slight germophobia and whatever phobia it is to bugs but if that incident didn't bug you, there's no one to say you can't go back. It's bad business practice though how they handled the situation and the owner/manager might want to know.

LBJ- I saw wings for sale at JoAnns. Do you have to make the costume yourself?

I totally agree, FF. BMT -- if you do plan (and even if you don't) to visit again, I would definitely contact the person in charge of the place! That is TERRIBLE. The last restaurant we went to our burger wasn't done right and we complained because it was a $11 burger and the manager didn't charge us for ANYTHING AND gave us free food. Seeing something like that is not only a turnoff to customers but is deserving of something in return, ESPECIALLY FOR NOT MAKING A SCENE. I tell you, I would've gotten right up and left. Not to be rude, but I wouldn't be able to take it and I definitely would not be able to finish my dinner. I may have just watched to many Restaurant Impossibles (show on Food Network and is AWESOME if no one has ever seen it!) but it freaks me out about restaurants sometimes!

Finally, out of work! And to celebrate I'm spending my Friday night with a bottle of wine, a bubble bath, and Crime and Punishment which I haven't had a chance to read all freaking week! I'm doing this, OF COURSE, after getting on BB and seeing whats up with everyone! I'm an addict... And I'm probably babbling.. but I've already drank half a glass. And I'm a total lightweight...

LBJ -- I don't know how you do it! I give you props for even trying! I try really hard to be creative but it just doesn't happen for me. Also, maybe try uploading a pic of what you have so far to the chat? I'm sure SOMEONE on this thread could have an idea to give you! If you don't mind me asking, what's the fundraiser for?

Hope your new girl is still doing good, FF! Any names yet??!? I'm excited to hear them once you guys decide!

FF - I don't have to make the costume myself, but I have a budget I have to stay within. Well, I guess I could use my own money if I wanted. LOL What kind of wings were they? I've seen butterfly/fairy wings before. I'm just making sleeves to go over my arms that are wing shaped.

Tanlover - Well, I don't know how well it is going to turn out. It probably won't be the most impressive thing anyone have ever seen since it is mostly going to be made of felt. The fundraiser is for the local nature center. I can try posting a pic tomorrow when I have better lighting.

Skipper - definitely post a pic of your turtle! I would like to see as well but as for a tank, my turtle is supposed to get 10", but he's 3 yrs & only 5". He's in a 75 gallon all to himself. It's been said that a turtle should have 10 gallons per inch but a 75 would be perfect for my turtles size if you can get your hands on one. I don't know how big yours will get, usually females get larger. Do you know for sure Frankie is male? (Long foreclaws & long tail)

For a filter, look for one that can filter a larger amount than what you have. I had a fluval 305 for quite some time but hated it. I now have an eheim 2217, great reviews & is recommended for tanks at about 165 gallons I believe. So far it works it works great!

LBJ- best of luck for your costume! Can't wait to see pics I'm terrible at sewing or creating any kind of clothing. I can draw it out but that's about it haha.

TL- I love that show. I used to watch HGTV before bed but lately I switched to Food Channel and I feel like I'm learning a lot from that show.

LBJ- I feel like they were of the fairy/butterfly nature. If nothing else the ladies at JoAnn could help you figure out the wing stuff. The one I go to the Bf worked at for a couple years so I know the ladies are very nice and helpful. Hopefully they or someone can help you figure it out.

As for names for "sweets". I like a recent suggestion to class up one of options. It's hard because nothing we will come up with will be as great as Bunjamin Franklin. I decided to take a night off and had myself a drink and some video games It's been a longggg week! I got some good news today so for once, I am looking forward to the next week!

BMT : The owners of the Sushi Place .. are they Japanese or what ?? ... In Western Australia every Japanese Place I have gone too has been owned by Chinese and I am not joking, Chinese running Japanese Places and the food that is served I would not give to a person dying of hunger... A few places where closed down by the health department because of rats and the likes running about the place when the light were off.

What you have stated, I would not be going back and I would be filing a complaint with the health department.

SM, she's a yellow belly slider. She'll get 8" if she's really a boy, 12" if she's really a female.

Mimzy hit the nail on the head with the filter issue. Get one that's rated for double the tank space. I have a rena filstar x3, it's rated for 175 gallons and I only have a 55 gallon tank, lol. My tank stays awesomely clean and non-smelly.

I built an ATBA (above tank basking area) for my turtle, Torti. It's made out of plexiglass, silicon, and love and it makes it so I can fill the tank up all the way for maximum swimming area, and so she has a lot of room to chill out out of the water. This is an old pic... Torti's so much bigger now!

Ohhhhh Zoologist Frankie's got to be a girl because she's about the same size length wise as Skipper when Skips goes into her hunched ball. I like the set up you have and I'll have to look into the filter. Once we move we won't be able to clean her tank the way we do now and it's honestly a lot of work. She's in a 20 gallon tank right now. And by taking a look at your set up she's in wayy too small of a tank for her size. I'll have to look into maybe making a plexiglass tank instead of buying a bigger glass one. Thanks Mimzy and Zoologist for your help. =]

We are currently learning medical procedures in my clinical class that meets twice a week! The teacher wants us to understand what the patients are going through and if they ask us "Have you done this?" the answer will be "yes." o_O

So we all have to do a fecal occult test.. and we have learned hearing and seeing types of procedures. I got my ear flushed out in class and it was really weird and fun.

I'm pretty much ahead in my homework, which means more time for spend with Chacha, more time to exercise, and play video games YAY!!!!!!

There have been so many pumpkins coming through my line at work. They are so heavy, and I am thankful that I wear a back brace, otherwise I would be in so much pain! A lot of my customers have been super helpful and helping me lift the pumpkins back in the cart. We cashiers are SUPER thankful for people that are helpful!

SM, if you're in a permanent residence you could think about making Frankie a pond? As long as it's deeper than 3' and has a muddy bottom she can stay out there year round since we have mild winters. You could build a big chicken wire cage around it and it could double as a run for Skipper

(Actually, I may take this idea for my own.... hm... now to buy a house with a backyard...)

Torti is in a 55 gallon and she's only 7 inches last time I measured. I want to buy her a bigger tank! Ideally I want to make her a pond, but that is ways away. I long for the day I don't have to lug her tank around every single time I move (usually yearly, ugh!)

I really like my rena filstar. I've been using them in various sizes since I had Torti, and been giving the smaller ones to my dad for his salt water tanks. The one I had for her when I was 17 still works! It's 6 years old. I would suggest the bigger, the better. It'll save you more time and money in the long run. I have 3 baskets in mine with 3 different filter pads, carbon, and stars to catch good bacteria. I double up on the fine mesh pads so it keeps the water cleaner. ALSO! I use sand instead of rocks. all the gunk sits on top and is scooped up by the filter so it doesn't get caught underneath rocks. and if she eats it she just poops it out, no big deal.

The basking area cost me ~$20 to make. They cut the plexi glass for me at the store, and the only big cost was the ramp which is a zoomed turtle dock.

In other news FINN IS ADORABLE AND I LOVES HIM. He's playing around with a cardboard box and got it stuck on his head. of course he pulled it off right as I got the camera out >_<

Zoologist I wish I could. My bf's parents have an old fish pond in their backyard but since we have foxes, raccoons, and hawks I'm afraid they're going to get her. Finn sounds adorable!

The bf and I are a little worried about Skipper. She's been showing some symptoms of a gut that's slowing down. We're trying to work with her to get her out of this and to get her GI tract moving some more with pineapple and lots of belly rubs. =/ It's so frustrating because she'll do these real healthy big poos and then these real small ones a little later. If she's not better by tonight I might just stay home with her tomorrow and see if I have to take her in for an emergency vet visit.

TL- turtles are AWESOME! And yes, they can live like 60-80 years if cared for properly. I knew when I got mine at 16 that it would be a life long commitment, and it's going to be pretty cool to be like, 70 and still have my pet from my teens

My mom used to make apple sauce in the fall! it's one of my favorite memories with her. It was soooo muchhh workkk though. Kudos to you for putting in the effort.

SM- that's why i suggested building an enclosure around it. I am going to do that when I have a backyard. Or if we're still in Florida I'm going to buy one of those houses that has the funky enclosed backyards. So weird. I've never seen those before until I moved down here. Enclosed backyard means turtle pond, cats can play outside with no problems, and a bunny run with no dangers!

Can you sneak some pumpkin into her diet to help her pass poos more easily? Can't you also use vaseline? If you want I'll make up some pumpkin biscuits and send them to you. I got cute little bat cookie cutters I've been wanting to try out. They'd be pumpkin, banana, and pellets.

TL those look amazing! And I personally like homemade applesauce more than store bought. I've gotten into the habit of making my own too but in small quantities since the bf hates applesauce. (He is so weird. xP) Can I just reach in and steal those cookies? They look sooooo good. I love little Frankie. You wouldn't think that turtles could be people animals but she really is. She'll let us hand feed her and pet the top of her head. She's really great.

Zoologist the previous turtles they had back in the pond were released because an animal had ripped into the wire around the pond they had put up. =/ Maybe I can talk to the bf and his brother-in-law to see what we can do.

I've apoointed a vet visit for Bosse on wednesday. He has been itching and scratching behind and on his ears alot lately (to the point where the hair is thinning a lot behind there), as well as itching a lot around on his entire body So I've appointed an all round wellness check, with a check for ear mites or other causes for his itching.
Yesterday when I was going to clip his nails I also descovered he has broken a nail It looked as though it had bled. So the vet is going to check out his nail too.
Hope everything turns out okay.

Good luck vibes to Bosse.

TL those all look so good. I've never had handmade applesauce but it sounds yummy!

SM- we rescued a red ear slider in a mcdonalds parking lot when I was a kid. He/she was the size of a quarter and no wildlife in the area so we think bird dropped her. Well we raised her to a good size then released her in a wildlife sanctuary that my mom worked with where we knew the habitat was right for her. We named her "big mac"

I'm taking sweets back to my usual vet. New vet sucked. She even grabbed her by the skin on her neck. From that point on I didn't like her. But she also didn't look inside ears or mouth. Just felt everything. And did a lot of unnecessary poking at her abdomen and then asks when she was spayed. *facepalm*. The doctor that's good at that office had an emergency (wife went into labor!) and we didn't feel like we could walk out but I can't go back there even if it was to see him because the possibility of getting her again is terrifying. Poor sweets. I'm worried she might have ear mites too because she is scratching her ears a lot too. I know my old vet will catch if it she does. It's worth the longer drive! If she does have ear mites, is it unreasonable to go back to other vet and ask for refund? That's what bf wants to do. $60 for a horrible check-up bugged him and I don't blame him.

Hi Hazel,
I usually download it via Vuze as it will be weeks or months before we get on TV down here (and I don't have cable or satellite) Absoluetly crushed that they have split the Warehouse 13 Season 4 but atleast I will have The Walking Dead and Haven.

LOL I could not stop laughing when the walking dead got mentioned because my boyfriend is right now watching all of them on OnDemand. He just found it tonight and is in love with it. This conversation has been so interesting. I just found it today and read the whole thing. I'm so happy I found this site. And the BF thinks its "adorable" that I'm on here all the time but he has no room to talk since he is obsessed with Ford Forums LOL. I really wish I could let thumper and Oreo out of the cage but the place we live right now is so small so we have no room to put lots of stuff and its super cramped. I can't wait til we have a new place and then I'm gonna ask him for an extra room for our buns. I've been litter training oreo which has been harder than I thought. I was spoiled because thumper was so easy. I literally just put the litter box in there and he started going in it. I have to say I'm hating my first semester of college. I'm not surprised by this though because I hated high school. But I just gotta get through it.

Just read on Facebook, this awful woman that I hid (and just defriended, actually) because I don't agree with her life on many levels, posted "We just had a Prince sighting! That's our bunny who ran away two months ago. H and the boys just saw him in our neighbors yard being chased by a cat." and when told by others she should catch it, she put "This is awful but I don't really want him back. I'm severely allergic. My allergies have been sooooo much better since he left. And he seems happy living the life of a wild bunny. If I did catch him I'd find him a new home. After two months in the wild he'd be a terrible pet (he kind if was before)"
She also just got a dog after "accidentally" letting Prince run off, and shes complaining about him and re-homing him after a month.

Omg that person sounds just like the person that owned Thumper and Oreo before they were with me. She finds pets off of craigslist and then two days later don't care about them at all. She let her four kids treat the buns how ever they wanted. I really hate that women and my cousin that lives in the apartment below her is contently trying to fix her bad mistakes. (thats how I got Thumper and Oreo) I try to tell her to ignore her because it will never get better but I know she can't because she is like me. She can't not help.

Zoologist - I don't have anything at the bottom of my turtle's tank and I feel so bad! He just has a castle and some fake plants, his floating docks & of course filter, heater. I used to have rocks but it was incredibly difficult keeping them clean. Wasn't bad when he was able to be in a small tank, I had it decorated so nicely! So I really want him to have a pretty tank now especially since I just got his new filter. I was looking into some sand, but how would you clean that? I looked online about it and most people suggest siphoning it into a bucket, another suggested putting a pillow case in a bucket, filling it up with sand and then taking it to a tub to rinse through the pillow case? Have you found a method you prefer?
I'm also going to get him a new floating dock. I like the floating logs or petsmart has a lily pad one that I really liked. I'd also like to build him a canopy like you did with the plexi glass. I think if I did though, I wouldn't be able to use the light his tank came with. It fits across the top of the tank & I'm not sure how to configure it to where I can still use it. I actually got my tank off craigslist while trying to sell my new $100 bike. I was trying to save up money for a new tank and a guy emailed me wanting to trade his tank for my bike xD Great deal!

I hate when people do stuff like that! They just should not have pets in the first place. Can't believe how careless some people are with pets sometimes I hate going on my friend's side of town because every time, I see all these stray dogs one after another and they all just look so sad! I always imagined running my own shelter and bringing different animals in Wish I would be able to someday but not sure if I could ever reach it. I know it would be really difficult to do as well, just would love to see these abandoned pets well cared for and off the streets.

Hi Mimzy,
Have you tried a tank/gravel vacuum, if it was course sand the vac should just pick it up spin it around in the opening and drop it as you move on. (Tank vacuum is a syphon system. Its got a wide tube with a scoop shaped mouth at one end and a smaller hose for out put. You shake the thing up and down in the tank to get it going then run it through the gravel and sand.

Not yet, I've actually never had sand before & any rocks I used, I made sure they weren't too tiny for him to swallow (he bites at anything I put in there )

I think I really want to try sand though, sounds like it might be a good idea. I only have a siphoner, just a regular manual one. So I'll probably be looking for a new one

Roberta: That's nice that you get to watch it online! I haven't watched any Haven or Warehouse 13, but they sound interesting from what I've read.

I hope Carl mans up a little bit this season, I couldn't stand him in season 2... But I guess when you look at Ricks and Loris parenting skills it shouldn't be surprising how he turned out

Have you seen this? It's awesome!

Yeah, you can't use gravel with turtles or they'll eat it and become impacted and die. you're only supposed to use rocks bigger than their heads, or sand, or nothing!
I'm jealous your turtle doesn't tear up her tank. I used to have fake plants in mine but Torti would rip them up and they'd becoming floating plants by the end of the day. Now I just have a fake log, a fake alligator skull, and a bubbling volcano. oh and a headless t-rex that sits on her basking dock.
Don't use any sand that says "do not use for aquariums or ponds". I learned the hard way that it's a mess. I used the sand used to level ground before laying down stones and it was so fine and silty that it went right through my filter, and was constantly being kicked up by the turtle and making the tank look awful. Now I use crayola sand for sand boxes. It comes in different colors... I have blue
I put the sand in a 5 gallon bucket and washed it outside with a hose. my filter took care of the rest (hence the massive amount of fine mesh pads)
Here's my photobucket album of Torti from when I put her in a 29 gallon tank to her 50 gallon tank. I don't have any pictures of her current set up, i'll have to take some. you can see the progression from when I put the sand in and how it cleared up in a few hours. http://s277.photobucket.com/albums/kk46/stickyturtle27/torti/

As thanks Zoologist I just saw your second post. But for the life of me I can't get Skipper to eat pumpkin. I'be flippin' tried everything and she's just a little drama queen about it. She seems to be a little bit better though today. Just crossed fingers that she stays that way since this weekend is moving weekend.

Svandis good luck on the vet appointment! I hope Bosse feels better! Mites and/or fleas are never fun.

FF that is too cute! Did you and the bf go ahead and name the little girl Sweets? I would ask for a refund. That's expensive to have nothing get done. And I understand about the long drive. We go an hour out to see our vet. I hope she gets better from the possible mites! I know my vet had actually said that it takes less Revolution to kills mites than it does to kill fleas.

My husband watched a couple episodes of Walking Dead. Then he realized the plot was very soap opera-ish and decided he hated it and didn't want to watch it after that. He hates anything that resembles a soap opera, so there aren't a lot of prime time shows that he watches.

Does anyone watch Copper? I like that show, but I have to go in the bedroom to watch it.

SM- I call her "sweets". Play on the name "Sweetie" that the shelter gave her. I just can't get a feeling for any of the names to fit her. I call her lots of terms of endearment, pumpkin, pumpkin pie, sweets, sweetie, baby girl. But she reacts the same to all of them. Even Amelia Earhart which is so cute! I kinda like "sweets" because I like the character from bones, well not as much as I like booth, but sweets is a good character too...

OH BTW, I went with Donna to rescue a pot-belly pig today Small one that was going to be killed. We transported her to great lakes who will put her up for adoption since all their pigs are already in a pack. Nothing like an adventure to start the week

Oh LBJ I like Copper! I just have to catch up since I am so far behind. >.< I got real distracted by Downton Abbey and power watched that show. I am so excited for the new season to start in January. =D

FF that's so cute! =] That's so cool that you could save a pig. I've always wandered what it would be like to have pig as a pet.

Skipper seems better today. =] Man did the poor girl have some funky bad gas yesterday. I really wish I knew what had caused it. She was so silly this morning. All she wanted to be was petted and kept nudging my hand to pet her. =p She's a total crack up. Speaking of silly pets. Willow our fat tubby bipolar cat was climbing the screen of our porch to get to a squirrel that was on the other side of it. xD

She was cute. And potty trained. But I'm not sure I would have one. You would have to have a farm. She has a bright future with lots of possible adopters. She was at an animal control and a volunteer leaked that they said her time was up so you know that got the rescues all riled up to save her.

I'm actually doing a lot with the rescue right now- well more than I used to. And I feel like a nerd but I'm totally excited... I get to be their new photographer. I got the camera and everything I need. Now I just need an assistant to keep an eye on the buns... hmmm ANDY?! lol he doesn't know this yet. And I'll be doing petfinder updates to help and she said I could update the website (it needs it). Yay!

TV's a wasteland down under at the moment. We are heading for the off ratings period. Mostly Sport Sport Sport and Motor Sport. There will be a few new shows screened in the next few weeks but they'll end before Xmas. Right now if it wasn't for the reruns of MASH etc I would only switch it on twice a week. Oh and they have restarted Happy Days "Again" have actually seen several episodes with Richie and Joanies mysterious big brother Chuck (who disappears early in the first season only to be mentioned briefly in the final season - something about outer mongolia)

I got really excited for Animal Practice and when I saw the pilot, I was left feeling disappointed and disgusted. Asian character stereotypes at its best The humor in the show just didn't get me very much.

O.o So I some how lost everything I just typed.

FF I'm glad you're having fun! It sounds like a total blast! I really wish I could help out with a rescue.

LoveChaCha I honestly don't know what to think about "Elementary". I can't wrap my head around the idea of a female Watson. I've picked my usual shows again: Revenge, Once Upon a Time, and How I Met Your Mother. The bf and I had started Go On and really like it. We've fallen behind a bit and need to catch up though.

FooFoosMommy i actually like Animal Practice. A little House-ish but not bad.I'm kind of waiting to see how the story develops some more.

So I got a funny text this morning. The bf and I had talked it over about a month ago that we weren't going to get another bun until maybe Jan./Feb. time. I wanted to get one earlier. Maybe closer to Dec. Well, this morning I get the funniest text from him saying he wants another bun now. xD He cracks me up so much. I would be honestly fine with getting another bun in early Dec. So that way we can bond with him for a few weeks before trying to bond him and Skipper. I have the whole month of Dec. off so it would be a good time to try the process.

My current TV shows are Dexter, Boardwalk Empire (GREAAAAAT SHOW!), and of course -- Walking Dead! =D I can't decide if it's getting more interesting or sucking... I go back and forth. I think it just depends on where it goes from here in my opinion, could go either way. And what about Rick cutting off the grandpas leg. Gagggg. I'm also finally through the first season of Star Trek: Voyager and on the 2nd...

Also, Crime and Punishment got boring about half way through so I didn't read much at all (if anything really) all week and so last night I picked it up again and what do you know?? Can't put it down again!

I posted this in my thread for Simon in the Welcome forum, but wanted to post it again as I'm worried about my foster bun... his sister died last night I'm going to have to keep a close eye on him for the next while, make sure he's eating and drinking and pooping properly. His sister, Cinnamon, was overweight and in rough shape just like Simon, and her foster mom said she suspects its because she was so overweight and couldn't hop around much without having to flop and breathe heavily after just a couple minutes is what caused her death... Just too much weight for her to handle. Hope Simon can get through this okay Need to get him slimmed down soon!

One problem with Simon, is that he wasnt fed much hay at the other shelter, so he isnt interested in it at all. Gotta figure out how to get him to eat more of it without stressing him too much

So the vet never really confirmed the appointment for today so we didn't go. Gonna mail her again and ask for an appointment on friday maybe. Bosse is hopping about and acting totally normal he was extra hyper today so I think he'll manage until friday. Just hope I get an answer this time!
Also, Ive gotten sick so I'm gonna stay at my parent's until the weekend. It's good we don't have any obligatory lectures. Just gonna miss two of them anyways. Been babysitting my sick little sister all week, maybe now I'll get a break and actually get some schoolwork done

And Monkeybun, I'm so sorry to hear that. I really hope Simon will be okay. Maybe try a couple of different types of hay and see if there is a special kind he preferres?

I've tried oat and orchard so far, as I can't have timothy in the apartment anymore. He did nibble on the oat a bit, so maybe it will grow on him

AAARGH.... Having earlier mentioned Nermal's tendencies as a Long Eared Land Shark it comes as no surprise that tonight we had "tears before bedtime" Nermie decided she did not want to go to bed.... I left her alone and even then she would not go to bed even when I messed with Frank the Wonder Plushie.. Instead I had to resort to crawling under her cage to catch her, that's when she went Land Shark. I had to defend myself with the remains of her phone book... Finally wrangled the little sod into bed. So what does she do, turns round and begs for Craisins !!!! Of course she got them, it's her nightly reward for going to bed.... Little rat bag. Frank the Wonder Plushie was being placed in the hay for a snack when I turned out the lights (the other night she had sat him next to her salad), no doubt she will deposit him in the litter box just in case he has any plushie bunny calls of nature.

Sorry for everyone I spoiled that for! I got so excited I didn't even think that some of you may have not seen it! It was definitely a nightmare though...

Monkeybun, hahahaha! Your poor bun! Mine were the WORST to try and figure out how to do their nails. They get out of EVERRRRRYTHING I put them into. The bunny burrito doesn't work with any of them. Even my vet couldn't get my brat into a burrito. For only being 4 lbs, my boys sure know how to kick! If you have someone helping you, you can try my trick! It's half bunny burrito, half holding them between my legs! I sit on the ground on my knees (slightly open) and then lay a blanket over my lap. With a treat we entice them onto the blanket and then BAM -- I quickly grab and shove between my legs. The back of my feet and legs are touching (near my bum) so that when they kick they are only kicking my legs so they can't break their spines and then I put my hand between the two paws slightly holding the head so they can't turn and bite me (learned that one that hard way!!) At the same time I quickly cover their eyes. Covering their eyes seems to calm them down long enough for me to get them into a good comfortable position for both of us and then I hold while my BF clips the nails! They usually fight one of two times doing the whole process but don't let go! (Unless it becomes dangerous for them) and clip clip clip! And then lots of treats afterwards. My buns always coming out with their hair a WRECK! Last time Fleury was shedding and I had hair in my mouth, all over my pants, towel full of hair, everything. Pretty sure I coughed up a hairball after that episode! ;P Also, just read the part about Simon. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and sending vibes his way for him to get through this! I can't even imagine watching that poor little bun right now. Do you know if he had time to "mourn" her? I'm guessing they were bonded? I read a lot about bonding bunnies dying (since all 3 of my buns are bonded and it's something that worries me when they get older) and they said the bun should be allowed ample time to sit with the passed bun so they understand what has happened. It's supposed to help with them being separated from the bun so he understands what has happened. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, it just has worried me before and so I hope to be able to help my babies when that time comes... So sad. Binky Free Baby Girl! <3

NikitaSue -- GREYS ANATOMY!! AHHHHH. LOVE LOVE LOVE! Although, I haven't kept up with any of the new seasons! Hmph. I always used to watch the reruns on Lifetime.

Roberta -- I just laughed out loud for a good 10 minutes after reading that post, that's HYSTERICAL! It sounds like my little devil boy, Fleury, when he's feeling all dominant and big bunny. I swear sometimes this brat hasn't been neutered! (Even though he's been rechecked so I KNOW he's good down there!) He'll come out of his cage sometimes with SUCH a little 'tude! He'll force you to pet him and then play big bad dominant bun by knocking your hand away. Then if you stop, he'll drive you insane by nipping your rump. I SWEAR. SUCH Brats these bun buns can be!

So tired lately! Blah. I can't seem to find the energy to do anything! Chores, reading, BB, anything! Not even coffee is helping me! But I can't help but be such a proud little bunny momma! My little Fleury, the one we were having the litter box issue with, is hysterical now! Every time he comes out of his cage he runs straight for his litter box, hops in, then puts his little paws up waiting for a treat! LOL. It's so adorable. He's got getting in the litter box down but I wish those clickers would become available again because it's nearly impossible to get him to realize that I need him to pee without one! I worked up to him getting in just fine -- he caught on tremendously -- but now it's adding the peeing part! I need something to click to show him that's what I want him to do! If I try to give him a treat during he just gets all excited and stops peeing and gets all excited and bounces around the litter box waiting for his treat, LOLOL. The little guy is smart though, gotta give him that!

He had been bonded with his sister, yes. The shelter separated them though, not sure when. He doesn't seem depressed at all though, so that's good. Right now, he is happily tossing his pellet bowl around his pen lol. I think he likes the noise it makes

AWWW, yay for Simon doing good! <3  I'm happy he's not depressed and lucky for him they separated them!  My buns ALL throw their salad bowls around like that too.   I think I may agree with you, they love anything that makes a destructive noise.

He better start eating his hay though!  Or I may have to send down my trio of hay destroyers to show him how it should be done...

Hello everyone

I'm sitting on the floor with bunny whilst my dinner cooks. Debating whether to give him the end of the aubergine (eggplant) I chopped off, since he's already tried a new food today.

I haven't back-read because there are so many pages, sorry if I waded into the middle of something.

NikitaSue - I know you've already told us before but how much do they weigh again? Could you be giving them too many pellets still? My buns are a little over 4 lbs and get 1/4 cup of pellets with a cup of veggies. I think if they are around 6 pounds they could even get an 1/8 cup pellets and 2 cups veggies. My vet doesn't really like using veggies as much as pellets though. And ours are all insanely hyper and active so I worried about taking them down to an 1/8 until they A) get older or B) stop being so insanely hyper and active. Hahaha. But they all mow down the hay like it's there job still... so unless they start getting fat.... I haven't had to worry about their hay intake AT ALL. Such pigs -- if I did I'd probably start decreasing pellets rather than veggies though.

Anyone can chime in if I'm wrong though, of course!

Lol Thumper and Oreo are both three pounds but I was told that while oreo is nursing that she is supposta get as much as she wants. And it's not like she is eating only pellets, she is just plain inhaling everything. She drinks 32oz of water in two days right now. But she isn't gaining any weight. The babies sure are though. Plus since I started her on veggies she has slowed down a little with the pellets. Now she is eating about a cup a day. AND HER HAY THING IS EMPTY AGAIN! this bun is gonna run me bankrupt!

I would reduce Thumpers down to 1/8 then and see if that makes him eat more hay. That could just be the problem -- he's just filling up on pellets and is uninterested in the hay because of it. Definitely keep her at all she can eat though! She sounds like a vacuum with that hay though!

Speaking of pellets, does anyone here give their bunnies a pellet-free diet? From the start I have felt like I shouldn't be feeding Harry pellets, beside his hay and lovely green veg they just look so artificial and unnecessary. But he clearly loves them.. I have been thinking of giving them just every other day and increasing his veg on the other days. But it needs a lot of thought and I want to make sure my little bun is getting everything he needs.

Well pellets have a lot of the vitamins they need. And they are made from compressed hay. I wouldn't take him off pellets unless your vet recommends it. I know a few members have their buns on pellet-less diets but that was after vet recommendation.

I feel responsible today. I decided to do my accounting homework instead of painting my nails or shopping. I know it sounds silly but I've been trying to spend my break on Thursday afternoons doing stuff for me. I wasn't giving myself enough "me" time and i would feel so run-down. I probably sound crazy but having thursday afternoons to do something for myself was nice. But I gave it up this week because I know my weekend is super busy.

I have a fundraiser for GLRS this Saturday, a Halloween party, and then a fundraiser for RASA Sunday. OH and I'm very excited tomorrow is my bunnies day. Sweets is going to my vet that I love. I can't wait to get her "cleared" for reals so I can finally introduce her to Bunjamin. And Bunjamin needs his nails trimmed. It's that dreaded time. :/

There is nothing wrong with feeding less pellets. As FrankieFlash stated, are like vitamins. However, too much can cause obesity and a rabbit can have a hard time eating its cecals because it cannot reach for them.

My little lady (who is 4 pounds) gets less than a tablespoon a day, fills up on hay 24/7 (I have to refresh hay at least twice a day because Chacha eats plenty of hay) and a plate full of veggies at night. Rabbit pellets are actually a food that was designed to make rabbits chubby up for other reasons that I will not say on this forum. It is sad, but true

Where do you get your hay from Nikita? There are farm feed stores that sell bulk hay for a really good price!

FrankieFlash, I totally do the same as you. I do homework for 3-4 hours and will take the rest of the day off to do 'me stuff.'

The boyfriend said that he is going to take me to the pet store next month and pick out a gift for Chacha. She will be 3 on 11/24. He said "I love this bunny."  I'll be buying Chacha's birthday gift tonight on BB. It is the Willow House

Mimzy was weighed at 5.8 lbs, She's getting 1/4 cup of pellets at night & 2 cups of veggies in the morning. Some days I feel like it's not enough but I know that's what is recommended I need to get a video of her reaction to craisins. Oh. my. gosh. she goes insane!! Once that bag ruffles, she's all over the place going in circles, I will drop them right in front of her & she's going so crazy for them that she can't concentrate well enough to actually find them O_o I only give a few every now & then, she's so silly

ChaCha - That's so exciting! Can't wait to buy my girl gifts for her first my bf is going to be buying her costume tomorrow (if we find a good one) I love when they step in & help with the pets xD

A couple days ago, one of my dogs & the puppy were wrestling and I guess my dog got a little too rough by accident which ended up making the puppy yelp. In doing so, my dog got scared & when she's scared, she gets on defense. So it started to become more of not playing anymore & we had to break it up. I took the puppy in my room to see if he was hurt. There were no scratches or sores though. But I just kept him in my room for a bit until things cooled down with my dog. I think it was just a misunderstanding with them because they're back to being friends again He really needs to find a home soon! I put up a few flyers around, no calls yet

Absolutely sure we can't keep him don't need a 4th dog! Haha. I work most weekdays which leaves my mom home to take care of the 4 dogs & 3 of them like to wrestle a lot, & the oldest one, she stats in the room mostly but she's going senial so she gets up often recently forgetting she already went outside to potty & she falls over easily. It's really sad! But it's definitely not been easy on my mom, she has frequent headaches too. So I think this puppy will be too much to handle right now unfortunately. He's a real sweetheart though!

This morning my bird has gotten on my nerves! If we whistles, he gets attention/reward & no attention when he screams. This is proving to be very difficult when my bf leaves something in my room that he needs & goes to get it while Kramer is still screaming! So this morning Kramer screamed for about 30-45 mins straight! I needed to hear a whistle because I had Mimzy's breakfast -.-

ARG! I just need to vent. I came home from my hour long class to find that Cinnabun had pulled up huge chunks of carpet. I thought we were past that stage of her life!! She's never even gone near the area she tore up. She has so many toys in her pen and gets "out" time for several hours. I can't help that I have to go to class early in the morning but everyday I come home to find she's made some sort of mess, and today it was tearing up carpet. I was so angry at her.

Mimzy, I never expected the Mister to help with Chacha, hahaha But when we move in together, I told him that she will 'level him up RPG style' and he will become daddy He was feeding her craisins last night and he said "I don't see her as a pet anymore. She is a human." I wanted to cryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!! It was the most awesome thing he has said about Chacha.

There have been some cruelty free stuff on sale at my job and I got a few recommendations from my customers. One is the Jason Aloe Vera hand and body lotion. I bought it an hour ago and used it. It does not leave your hands oily or gross! Plus, it does not test on animals (leaping bunny logo!) I also saw cruelty free shaving cream, so i will switch over to that when I am done with the one that I am using now.

I hit my elbow and now it hurts -_-

lol Chacha that last part was random.

So sweets got a vet check with my good vet today. She got a clean bill of health mostly. She has some points on her molars but the vet wants us to watch it and see if it improves now she's on a proper diet since she eats hay so well. We also are waiting the results of the fecal sample but I'm relieved everything else was clear. If the fecal check is negative, we'll start slowly introducing her to Bunjamin.

But I got sad news at the end of the vet visit. Makes me want to cry. My vet is moving to Georgia. Now I have to decide where to take the buns because they both have points on their molars that need re-checked in January so they'll have to be seen and possibly clipped. She's great though, she's going to mail me their medical records when she leaves so I can take them to the new vet I chose.

Exactly Bullrider, it's heart breaking... So many pets, not just buns have passed that belong to friends and at the same time the shelters are bursting at the seems with the Spring influx and post easter and xmas dumpings. We just have to take the victories, no matter how small, when they come. My regular pet supply had little rag doll kittens, one was not doing well so was having her diet supplemented with hand bottle feeding, yesterday she crashed...Unlike most pet shops they rushed to to the nearest vet, when they did not have the specialised equipment Marita's husband rushed down and collected her and did an emergency run to a specialist. It will probably cost them 100 times more than they would have sold her for but they refuse to let the little one suffer and die if they can save her. Still waiting to hear the results of the scans. Also this week a colleague asked me about buns as her daughter now 14 wants one. I convinced them to consider a rescue, they loved the idea of saving a bun in need and have asked me for all the info I can provide. Little victories, I'll take as many as I can get.

So sorry, BullRider. For everything you're going through right now. Keep your head up and snuggle with that big boy Blue whenever feeling down! I want a Big Blue to snuggle with... Ahhhh, Blue. I'm top Stalker of his fan club on here!

FF -- So happy Sweets visit went well! Hopefully everything else comes back negative and you can move forward with introducing! So excited for you and your little bun family!!!

LoveChaCha -- I totally agree with you. Even though my boyfriend and I got our buns together I never thought he'd be the excellent bunny daddy that he is! He even refers to himself as their daddy and me their momma. And is always talking in this cute little baby voice animating their thoughts, LOL. It's too funny. He's so protective of them too. I loveee it.

Cinnabun -- I sure do know that frustrating feeling! My buns never give me a break, I swear!

So, I've started assuming that when the breeder we bought our Tans from said that Tans aren't usually the ideal first time bunny owner bun, I'm beginning to see why. They have started pulling out even MORE attitude than I thought possible. Today, we caught the girl, Sidney, who has NEVER had a problem with using the litter box attempting to urinate on the floor. Now that Fleury (the problem one) has improved drastically and I've been so happy -- now it's the other two! I'm at my wits ends with these little bratscals. But I'm willing to work through it with them because they're so darn adorable. Anywho, so I decided to take the advice of so many others and they've had their play area resized smaller until they get the litter box right. And BOYYYY were they NOT happy. I have never seen so much attitude in my LIFE! They were tearing up the play area -- trying to tear down the bunny wall, attempting to just flat out jump it, yanking on the carpet when the wall wouldn't move, throwing stuff around, yanking on my clothes... just so much 'TUDE! So they finally just went in their cage so I quickly shut the door and ended playtime before I yanked my hair out from frustration. They make me feel so mean for making the play area smaller! LOL. But URGHHH... I just don't know what to do with them. So as soon as I closed the door I got a bunch of angry yanks on the door and then I sat down to watch my TV show and BAM. All this ruckus started thundering from the cage. They were throwing their food dishes everywhere, yanking hay out and throwing it all over the floor, throwing their toys against the walls, banging on the cage in every way possible, and then started tearing at every piece of condo they could find after flinging CareFresh EVERRRYYYWHERE and flinging a good 300 poops outside the cage. They totally lost their marbles. Thankfully after a good 30 minutes they realized I wasn't letting them back out and went to sleep. Such braaaaats.

In good news, it's the weekend!

I feel ya, bullrider. The anniversary of my mom's passing is this December. I always take the day off to remember her and to do something with my grandma (who was there with me when my mom took her last breath) and just enjoy the day. It is a sad day, but I spend it doing something fun to remember my mom. It has gotten easier over time, but I still miss my mom at times. This year will be 3 years that she has been gone.

Let the buns have a dawn run in their playpen this morning... They had a wonderful time and I seized the moment to do a full habitat clean (the play area is next) Nermal is peeved !!!! As she is a tidy bun with good litter habits I don't have to do her cage as thoroughly every time but she gets very annoyed when I strip it down completely. Nomnoms is now making a very noisy point of redecorating her favourite napping spot in protest. The others have devoured the breakfast salad and passed out in a cuddle puddle on the lovely pile of fresh hay (they don't like blankies in their condo)

Not much to say about the buns. They are their normal little turdie selves. They will be temporarily losing their room though. We have to move the wall that they share with the bathroom since we can't find a new bathtub that will fit. Not sure what we're going to do with them. =\

So... in 9 days I'll be heading up to the bunny rescue. Something about the breeder I was going to go to just didn't sit right with me, I contacted the rescue I got Loki from and they had a pregnant bunny come into the rescue a few months ago and have a small litter, she said she'd be delighted if I'd take a baby or two as she knows that Loki is loved and spoilt rotten. They'll grow into small bunnies and when I told my mother this I think she became smitten with them, I wouldn't be surprised if I arrive home with 2 of them!

I found this recipe online after googling: Almond Milk Hot Chocolate:

I used:

-1 cup almond milk (I don't drink regular dairy milk, so I'm sure that regular milk can work too!)

-1 1/2 tablespoons of cocoa powder
-1 teaspoon of sugar (the recipe called for 2, but I didn't need that much)

Results: OMG WHAT IS THIS GOODNESS!

I'll never drink box hot chocolate again, where the first ingredient is 'sugar.' Hello, homemade hot chocolate I need to stock up on more cocoa powder at work on my break tomorrow

I haven't been sleeping well lately, so I've been taking showers at night. It is helping me sleep...

ChaCha, that looks DELICIOUS!

And LongHairedMike, Ahhhhh. It's been in the 40's here. BOOO. But the past two days have been nice in the 60's!

Ugh. My buns are going to be the end of my sanity. For the life of me, I can't figure out why my buns won't litter-box train. In the past couple of days, we've caught them all peeing on the carpet. I'm trying everything with them! But ugh, now that all 3 of them.. why won't my bun babies just LITTER TRAIN.

Hey TL, You mentioned previously there was works being done in your area... Could the noise and vibration be upsetting them? Even if we can't hear it I am sure they would sense it very keenly.

Haha I'm trying to memorize a bunch of heart sounds for my exam, and Peppy was FREAKING OUT every time I played a clip! Cardiology does not suit her well. After getting a few chuckles in, I decided to be nice and grab some headphones .

Serves her right though, she's been a little twerp recently with the carpet...

I haven't been on in a while.  And I've really missed everyone!  I hope everyone is doing well.

The bf and I moved in successfully this past week/weekend.  The first night we let Skipper out she was Ms. Stompy and stomped more in that night then she had ever stomped in her 6months with us.  She's settling in well.  It seems though that she is more into exploring the new space and playing on our piles of clothes that need washing.  She has unfortunately taken a liking to trying to rip carpet.  We've allowed her to have access to the kitchen and living room.  She seems to like to hang out more on the tile than anything else.  As to why is a total mystery to me.   She did a small binky last night and a huge one this morning (I missed it  the bf had saw it).   So she must be liking the new house somewhat.

We're waiting to hear back from the Internet company because we currently do not have any.   We have tried four different companies and they claim we are in too rural of an area to service.   Which I think is totally insane.  We're not thatttt far from civilization.  There is this one small company that we've never heard of that claims to service the area.  ( Yeah we're real skeptical of them but hey they're the only option we have.) So, we're hoping to hear from them soon.  They surveyed the area (the only company willing to do so) today and said maybe it could be done but they have to check back later this week.  Fingers crossed we are able to get Internet or we're going to go crazyyyyy.

Roberta -- they stopped all the work they were doing. So I'm not sure what is triggering it. We've tried steam-cleaning AND vinegaring the whole carpet along with using another hand-held carpet cleaner every time one of them has had an accident along with vinegar also. We're trying to limit their area but even in the small area Fleury had an accident last night. The BF and I noticed we've been bad at putting hay in their outside litter boxes though since they have access to hay in their house when they're out anyways... sooo I'm going back to making sure the litter boxes are clean with hay in them at all times!

SkippersMama -- That would totally suck! I'm pretty sure my boyfriend could not go without internet. I think it would be virtually impossible for him to do that. He's ALWAYS on the computer.

I'm seriously considering a career change... I had so much fun photographing the animals at the rescue. I took photos of hamsters, guinea pigs and rabbits today. They came out really well. I'm not like a crazy photography buff but I have a professional camera for the bead/jewelry business and I have learned a thing or two.

SM- I'm not sure I could live without internet. I hope the small company works!

Lol peppy!

I want to try almond milk but I'm afraid to buy a whole thing of it and not like it.

It's surprising, you'd think there would be too many photographers for rescues but I know the local humane society doesn't have someone to take pictures of buns either. I just can't go back there knowing what they do. But RASA is great with their animals. The fosters treat each bun, pig, and hamster like they are their own.

And now they are peeing outside the litter box inside their bunny condo too.... UGH. I'm at my wits end with figuring out what the problem is. I gave them a smaller area to play in but the problem still persists. And now it's moved to inside the bunny condo to... I just don't know what to do.

Sorry to keep babbling about this issue with me and my buns -- but now that one of them is peeing inside the condo we're worried about possible bladder issues but we haven't seen any of them straining to pee (since Tanger did last week -- we watched him for one more day before deciding on a vet visit and the whole rest of the time he seemed fine and has since). Since all of them have seemed to have lost their litter box habits outside the condo, I'm not sure if they all seemed stressed about something or what it could be. Nothing has changed in our schedule, nor has anything in their bunny condo. The only difference has been the downsize of the bunny play area since they ALL have lost their play area litter box habits. I'm so confused as to what is going on. And slightly worried. It would be so much easier to tell if they weren't bonded and we could SEE which one is making the accidents inside the bunny condo (no idea if it's one of them or all 3) but since they're all in the same area it seems to be almost impossible.

Desperate for any more advice. :/

Tanlover - I wish I had some advice to give you on your bunny pee problem! Ok this may seem weird but have you thought about putting them in all in 3 different x pens? Kinda in a 3 leaf clover arrangement so where they can still cuddle through the fence? They could still smell and see each other too so that may work. If you have a separate condo maybe you could put the one with the pee problem in that one and see if I new space is all she needs. Might want to switch out her litter box too. I would be so completely spazzing out and depressed. You can do it! Just keep your head up and remember this day, because next year it will be a different thing altogether and you'll be so glad to have this over with.

On the lighter side, I have something funny to share with everyone. I'm leaving to visit my family today and found this note attached to my suitcase:

It says : "I have two Jesse scented shirts for you! Please don't forget to take them, I don't want you to lose my scent, we would have to bond all over again and you may not think me worth it!"

For everyone who doesn't know about me and my hubs Jesse. (which is everyone When we were dating I would ask for one of his shirts to sleep in so I could feel like he was in the bed with me. That and the added research we've done on bonding bunnies I thought this was too hilarious. I knew I had to share it on here b/c only my rabbit enthusiast friends would get this.

Bumble Fly -- That is TOOOO adorable! What a good hubby! <3

As for the suggestion of separating them, I've thought of it but they get really upset when one is taken away, even just to go to the vet. By the time he comes back, they're all out of sorts and spend hours cuddling and grooming each other. It's very obvious it upsets them and even when one just gets taken out of their cage (with the rest in) for nail trimmings and such, it makes them really anxious so I would be really worried about possibly adding to the problem or just simply stressing them beyond what they should be. Maybe some more experienced bonded bunny owners could comment on how separating them has worked out? I've pretty much only kept it as an option if one gets sick or hurt and NEEDs to be away from the other buns.

I love them to death but goodness! And it's so frustrating since I have no idea if it's something I'm doing or if it's something they're upset about or what! If only my little brats could talk... it would be so much easier! I'm definitely trying to keep my head up, as is the boyfriend, who gets frustrated at them and then frustrated at me that I haven't figured out the solution yet. BAH. I'm going to try just re-litter training them with all the things you do when they are babies and learning. Such as wiping all the pee up and throwing it into their litter box along with the poos and anything else we did when they were little. Re-reading all the articles on litter training!

In better news, I'm finding it INSANELY adorable (like I stare at them every night) how when it's dinner time they all sit patiently (and impatiently) waiting at the bowls for food! They finally KNOW around the time dinner is and boy will they sit there and wait for however long it takes me! I can't get over how cute it is. And as soon as I walk in the room they'll watch my every move until they hear the bag and then they start jumping all over each other next to the bag in anticipation. I love their little faces sooooo much. I was 10 minutes late to work the other day because I fed them their morning veggie salads and I couldn't help but just sit there and stare at them as they munched away.

As many of you know, we have AeroGardens for veggies now as well as windowsill plants. We gave up on the lettuce -- we tried two different batches, the first bolted rather quickly we thought and the 2nd one, they're just so flimsy and we would rather use it for MORE HERBS if the lettuce wasn't up to the best! So we've decided to clean out the herb garden and salad garden and start over from scratch since we've learned a bit more about them anyways! We are taking the basil, lemon basil, and mint that has basically taken every over in the garden (crazy good at growing) and I'm putting them all into windowsill plants since they're doing so well -- hopefully the transplant goes okay! Then we're having one tall herb garden and one for the little herbs! Excited to start this new venture. Both the tomatoes and peppers have baby tomatoes and peppers on them also! Can't wait to pick the first tomato! Ahhhhhh. I'm expecting it to be absolutely delicious so hopefully I'm not disappointed! I have to spend today transplanting and cleaning them out before I head to work.

Hope everyone else's week is going good!

I'm so sorry TL! I really wish I could help. Is it their litter box by any chance? Maybe not enough hay in it? I know Skipper will not go in her litter box if there is not "just enough" hay in it. If there is too much or not enough hay she refuses to use the litter box. Also, is the litter box not "clean" to their satisfaction? Maybe the box gets full with enough poo and they refuse to go until cleaned? Have you thought of getting a bigger litter box that all three could fit into? Maybe if you can get all three in there or atleast two in there at a time and they can both go together they can kind of teach other this is what to do? I know this isn't real helpful. =/

We're still trying to figure out Internet. >.< So I've been checking on how things are going with everyone at work or on my phone. =p Skipper has been honking like crazy since we've moved. It's all honk, honk, honk, zoomie, honk, honk, honk, binky. xD It's so gosh darn cute. I'm really hoping and assuming that the honking is a good thing. xP She has been stomping a lot more though. She must be hearing something that is upseting her or we're just not doing something that she wants.

I'm so confused. What is thumping and stomping? and I had a baby bun escape situation yesterday and now I have a chunk missing form my arm =/ It was the smart one too but I guess she just did not at all cost want to go back in the play pen. I had thumper playing in the pen for the last couple hours and it was so adorable because thumper was jumping so high and then he got tired so he burrowed under his blanket and every time I came over i just saw this bump under the blanket. and every now and then he would poke his head out to make sure I'm still paying attention to him. I'm also having some litter training troubles with oreo but she is still early in it so I've been just patient but I'm afraid she is just teaching the babies bad habits. Because she scoots her butt to the side and pees out the side and then the babies hop over and pee where her pee landed and I tried to put a peice of paper towel soaked with pee in the bin but they get mad and pick it up and take it over to where they want it. And if i try to move it again they snatch it out of my hand. They are getting so aggresive =(

Thanks, SkippersMama. We are definitely back to just doing the basics with them! They all can fit into their litter boxes actually! Two easily, three with a little push and shove. They do it all the time and it's the cutest thing EVERRR! I've been trying to sit back and evaluate the situation and explained to my boyfriend how it's not as easy as it seems because it can mean so many different things! I would just add another litter box but the one deciding to pee outside of the litter box (in the condo) is deciding to under the first level so one wouldn't fit there and I WOULD just switch it around so the level is on the other side but they pee in the other corner too (where the other litter box is!). I'm just going to keep trying the paper towel method and hope whoever is making the accidents picks up on it and realizes that's where they should go! I think hay MAY have been the problem, since we stopped putting hay in the bottom one so I started reputting hay back in there and we're going to see how that goes! With me -- they haven't had any more accidents since we've made the play area smaller, with my boyfriend it's only happened once as far as I know which was a couple of days ago sooooo hopefully that's helping. We have two litter boxes outside the cage so when I figure out how to expand it more it will incorporate the second litter box into the play area again so HOPEFULLY that will help also as the area gets bigger for them. I was worried about bladder problems but I really don't think that is it. They all seem fine with peeing. Tanger looked like he was straining for about a whole day one day but is now back to normal... Ohhhh these bun buns! They sure do keep me on my toes. Thankfully, our VPI Insurance kicked in on the 18th so now if something DOES happen they'll have insurance for it! Whoooo hooooo. That's hysterical about Skippers honking. I haven't heard any of my buns honk! But Sidney does make this weird almost wheezing sounding noise before she thumps at me! LOL. Of course, my BF thinks it's hysterical because she's never thumped at him but has at me whenever I have to move her out of the way to get something. The poor little Majesty. She has my BF wrapped right around her little paw.

NikitaSue, I'm so sorry but I couldn't help but laugh! They move it to where they want it?! That's adorable in the sense but probably not for you! I've never had babies this young so I'm probably of no help. When we first got ours though, around 2 months, he was alittle aggressive at first but then stopped when we would push his head down. I read it on a website about being the "dominant" bun of the bunch. So they understand that you're the head of the herd so to speak? Anyways, it worked with our little guy and his aggressive behaviors in the beginning, so maybe that could potentially help you? It definitely stopped him from nipping. Which he did HARD. I wouldn't assume though that the litter training habits they get from their momma will really stick though. Since all of ours came from a breeder, when we separated them they did pretty well on their own (after the neutering and spaying) and even some before. Only one of the boys was really bad and that was when we first got them. I mean, I'm obviously having trouble with my bunch right now and their peeing everywhere, but in the most common times I don't think it will affect their future litter habits if that's what you're worried about.

Oh, our buns... Mine are all sitting in a pile grooming each other on the heads. It's freaking adorable! Such little cuddle buns, I love having a trio!

Also, I have a question for everyone.... so my boyfriend and I are STILL obsessed with getting the last lilac Tan if the breeder ever decides to sell -- but now that she is probably going to be using him for breeding soon... could this in any way affect his health? Like if we decided to buy him after she had used him once or twice could he have any problems that could arise from that or could it lessen his life span??? I thought it was just with females this happened because of the uterine cancer but now we're intrigued/worried about this little guy and what it could mean for his future? Thoughts?

Isn't it Friday yet??

tanlover: I don't think that it makes a difference weather or not a rabbit breeds in regards to their cancer risk. Since males aren't as prone to reproductive cancer anyway I don't think you need to worry, especially if you plan on getting him fixed. I think he would be fine, but I'm no expert.

If she won't let you have him you could always try to go for one of his lilac babies in the future, that's better than nothing

I went to get some Halloween candy today and ended up with 4 bags. Plus 2 bags of M&M's. It all looked so good. Problem is, we don't usually get very many Trick-or-Treaters. So that means we will end up eating most of it. =\

I really need to get some stuff done today, but I'm not off to a very good start. I needed to clean some stuff, do some laundry, start the dog's haircut, do some homework. Oh yeah, I also need to finish a little bunny costume. Too much stuff to do and I don't feel like doing much of anything. *sigh

What kind of dog do you have? It must save you a good bit of money being able to do his hair yourself instead of going to a groomer

I did a bunch of laundry today too, for some weird reason I actually like doing the laundry

Hazel - She is a "fuzzy" dachshund. She looks like a little teddy bear when her fur grows out, but it is a nightmare to try to brush. We have been clipping her hair ourselves for several years now. Yes, it has probably saved us a ton of money. We used to take her to Petco to get her hair cut but we found out they were treating her terrible there. So we took her to this nice place that boards dogs in their own little suites. They were so very nice to her there, they even took her outside in their yard to give her a break. Problem was, they charged us $60 for the haircut. Yikes! So my husband decided to invest in some fancy clippers and we have been doing it ourselves ever since.

Well, I managed to clean the bathroom, do some laundry, unpack some winter clothes and pack up some summer clothes, and clip all the parts on my dog that I can do by myself. I guess that isn't so bad. I didn't make it to my homework at all. I still have time yet, but it always seems like I still have time until it suddenly ends up being the last minute. Does anyone else have that problem?

NikitaSue that is too cute and funny! Must be totally frustrating though. I'm wondering if the aggressiveness is a lack of a bond? Despite you being close with the Momma maybe the babies need some more time with you? That's all I can really think of. Tanlover does bring up a good point.

Tanlover your little guys are just adorable. I tell my bf about your buns and he gets a laugh out of their antics. =] Skipper's honk is really quite. If we have the TV or radio on you can't hear it. I've tried taping it but it never seems to get captured correctly. The wheeze that Sydney does. Does it sound like a weezy cough crossed with a swan honk? That's what Skipper's honk sounds like but with a reallyyyyyy low pitch. Maybe that's just Sidney's version of a honk. =D

LBJ there's nothing wrong with tons of leftover candy. ;] You're dog sounds so cute. I have that problem with homework. I get so caught up with one class and think I bunch of time to do the homework of another and it just doesn't get done. It kind of makes me want to bang my head against a wall. You think I would have learned by now.

The Internet guys are supposed to come tomorrow and hopefully will have it all set up! So fingers crossed it works! =]

I was wondering though for those with carpets. Do you have problems seeing pee stains in the carpet? We've been trying to see if Skipper pees on the carpet but we honestly just can't tell. Is there any way to check for pee stains? Will it smell? We try to walk around the carpet and check but we worry that we miss spots.

Skipper's Mama - Yes, I have done that before. I will become so overwhelmed with one class that I will sort of forget about the other one. Good thing I only have one class this semester. My homework that I am worried about isn't actually for my class though. It is actually a project that I have been working on since, uh, July maybe? I have to get all my stuff together into a poster/presentation in the next few weeks because I will be presenting at a conference. See, told you I have been putting this off. LOL

Ha!  I'm the worlds WORST (or best?) procrastinator.  Literally, I wait til the last minute to do EVERRRRRYTHING.  It's a real problem so I definitely feel your guys pain!

So I'm in the process of attempting to go back to school -- I was going to school for Finance in NY when I met my boyfriend and up and decided to move to Pittsburgh, PA to be with him.  Attempting to get my transcripts from my school has been a NIGHTMARE though to say the least, so I'm hoping I'll be able to start taking classes again this coming semester!  YAY for school!   I'm so excited and really want to get my life back on track towards the direction I'm looking to go!

In other news, the breeder we got our buns from posted pics on her website of the newest Tan babies she has and I'm dying inside.  I'm very much trying to convince my boyfriend to get one!  There's a Black Tan (doe) and Blue Tan (buck).  I feel so bad for the little girl though since I noticed on her website that she had listed the doe as "pet quality from smutty eyes" and I looked it up and it seemed to basically be she's not show quality or really breed quality since she has an imperfection.  I don't even wanna think about what some breeders do to ones that aren't up to par, although I'm positive she's not like that... I want them both so bad to save them from a life of breeding.. UGH.  I wish I could save every bun of the world.

How could you not love those faces??!!?  Ugh, I'm going to end up a Tan hoader.  Then they'll all have to be free-roam so I don't have bunny condos everywhere... Le Sigh.  Anyone on BB want a Tan I can get for them???

I think BullRider needs a Tan to add to his collection!

I knowwwwwww. Thankfully, I have my boyfriend and myself to talk each other out of such a horrible idea! My crazy trio are enough for me to handle -- unless of course the one we've wanted since the beginning becomes available but thats THE ONLY OPTION! Hmph - which will never happen! LOL. Wishful thinking?

Finally, it's the weekend! I feel like I've been anxiously anticipating this ALL freakin' week... for no other reason than I feel like I REALLY need to just relax for a day or two. AND on a good note, we haven't had any bratty bunny potty accidents in the past two days! No accidents inside OR outside. Of course this is with the smaller play area we crafted for them. They've been doing so well the past couple of days I'm too scared to widen it in case of them falling backwards! AND as an update on Fleury, the one who originally started this whole process and was becoming aggressive with his peeing, has spent the last FOUR times coming out of his cage hopping immediately into his litter box as soon as he comes out to play, peeing, and then going on his way! SUCH A PROUD BUNNY MOMMA MOMENT! I swear when he does it he even waits for you to look at him and only then will he finally pee and hop out happily. UGH. So happy with my little brat boy! <3 <3

NikitaSue, I have to say I'm pretty confused about that also! But I'm pretty sure it's more if they are bred for long periods of time and never spayed that they can develop the uterine cancer. Once they're spayed, I think they're safe. From what I've seen on here and read most of the times it's if they are older and can't be spayed because of age or any sort of illnesses they've developed. Do you know when you are getting her spayed yet? How old are the babies now?!

I don't think that by a rabbit giving birth, it increases their chances of getting reproductive cancer. If she is of age to be spayed (6 months old+) I would get her spayed ASAP to get that worry off your mind.

Aw, its a big Chacha bun Ha ha, I can't wait to take her bunny dating at the shelter when the Mister and I move in together. I wonder what kind of bunny she will choose as her boyfriend/girlfriend.

Hi Nikkita Sue, My Pepper had two oops litters and I did a lot of research. Several sites stated that a rabbit who had not had a litter was more likely to get UC where as a rabbit that had one or two litters statistically were less likely to get it. HOWEVER I would not rely on that, My Pepper is still going to be spayed very shortly and personally I don't think that breeding rabbits would be protected I think they would actually be more prone to it having had multiple litters and in an environment that is not conduscive to good bunny health.

LOL Tanlover...... I would love to see you adopt that little bun but enough is enough. I have 5 and whilst I would not part with any of them they are a handful and eat like an army of Spartans!!!!.
I bought them some dried pawpaw to try today. I have to chop it up to go in their Craisin box first so I will post updates. They still turn their noses up at banana and strawberries are peasant food to be suffered only when apples or Craisins aren't on offer.
