I know that most of the members on here do not agree with keeping rabbits outside, but my mum has developed an allergy towards my two rabbits and i could never bare to part with my rabbits, so my only option is to put them outside. As i want the best life for the bunnies im currently in the process of buying a 10x8 shed with an attached run. It will be lined with lino have plenty of shelves to hop around on and lots of their fav digging boxes but my main question is heat. I live in the south of england and the last few winters have been super super cold! i know some people think its over the top because their in a shed but will a heating device of some sort be worth it? obviously i wont be blasting out ridiculous heat, it will be still keep quite cool i was thinking 5 - 10 degrees celcius? any advice would be awesome!

Is there some where else in the house you can put them that the rabbit wont bother your mom? or maybe could your mom take an allergy pill. I know rabbits do better in colder climates.

I'm sorry to hear about the troubles with your mom! However, for many people their allergies aren't triggered by the rabbits but rather by the hay that the rabbits eat. What kind do you feed?

That does sound quite cold! I would be concerned about keeping my rabbits in that temperature unless a more adequate heat source could be found.

im not too sure if you could run an extension cord outdoors to their cage... BUUUUUUT there are pet heating pads..

Yeah we both suffer from hayfever but shes started developing rashes after the rabbits are near her, allergy pills just dont work, shes been trying her best to find a sollution but this seems to be the only one i would just confine them to one room but upstairs there all quite small. I've been looking at heating all night ive found some excellent ones, i can always put the heat up but my rabbits play in the garden during the day so they have got a winter coat so i dont want them to get to hot so i though 10 degress wouldnt be to hot and it wouldnt be too cold? An dont worry it wont be an extention cord, my Dads a builder and its running electric down to the shed so i can have lights and heat down there, not just for the rabbits but for me because i still wanna spend the evenings with them

I don't know anything about the heating element but I've actually seen a few examples of shed set ups outside that were amazing! It was like they had their own room with little rugs and carpets. They had loads of toys and little bed boxes with litter trays etc and a ramp going up to a balcony type thing they'd added in to the shed. It had lighting and heating and plug sockets that were up high for anything else. I'll try and see if I can find it for you to see .

Thats exactly what im aiming for, like a shed but the floor with be coverd in lino with rugs and snuggly places and lots of toys and boxes for the rabbits
