Hi guys,
I was wondering if a few people could give us some suggstions as to what to use to cover our wires...So far, electric tape hasn't worked.. And, we went to Home depot, and I asked them for tubes w/slits in them, but they didn' t knw what that was.......Any suggestions? I need a store that'll at least carry lengths of tubing that i can cut slits myself w/ scissors...Please help!!! |

It's actually called "corrugated tubing - split lume" or "tubing flex" I will add that name to the House Proofing section so people know what to ask for.
You can enter that in online to search the net. I have seen it on ebay too.
Or just call around locally and see if they now recognize that name.

Great timing for this post! Our precious, never does anything wrong, Sable chewed a lamp cord the other night. Of course it was my fault for not keeping a close enough watch on the baby, but what can I say? .. when you gotta go, you gotta go. Who knew Sable would choose those few minutes to show his destructive side? All is well though, I pointed out that I had warned dh about that cord being in one of Sable's favourite runways and had suggested getting something to protect it in the past. I do admit however that I usually pick it up out of the way when letting bunny out.
Long story short, dh is going out to shop for some new cord for his favourite lamp and some wire protector for the rest of the cords behind the tv stand.
Thanks! |

I got mine at a True Value... I don't know if those are everywhere or not. My boyfriend found this site also: http://cableorganizer.com/wire-loom...lored.html These are different colors! Good luck! -oh, and these things really do work. |

HI i used some pond tubing from a garden store, its just the same as a garden hose tube thing except its black. .i slit it down the middle then was able to fit it round my wires. Still boo the crafty little doe still managed to find the house phone wire and chew through it. she is lucky she is cute!! |

Ah yes, i've had to replace my telephone cable many a time due to one naughty bunny. I think my husband picked up the tubing from the hardware store. Works well and you may just save your buns life! |

I got some of the covers they sell at Ikea for 99 cents. They work well for the majority of the plug - but it won't cover the end plug My stealthy bunnies will push it up and nibble the cord at the end!
Phone cords are the favorite at our house - the theory is that they don't want us listening in on their phone calls! |

Thanks for the ideas and the correct name.
I will have to go find a True Value or someplace this weekend. Ikea is too far away and I'm unable to order much on the internet since I live in a condo and UPS/FedEx won't deliver w/o signiture...

howdy you can get clear tubing by the foot at places like orchard hardware. last time i got some it was like 9 cents/foot. depends on the sizde you get. personally, i'm a total lazy butt plus i have so many critters to care for that i can't be bothered w/covering cords. i shove my wires behind furniture and block off the ends w/rolled up linens or other items (paper shredder for instance) in certain places i can just tape/hook wires up higher on the wall where they can't reach them. i have the 3m hooks that are removable and i can stick them wherever. i also live in a tiny place so bunnyproofing is relatively ez.

hi again i forgot to mention that i also use nic/grid cube panels around stuff to block the bunz off so they can't crawl under things -- a bed, for instance (the dust ruffle covers the grid panel). also, you can connect a bunch of them together w/cable ties and bring them out when needed -- surround a chair, loveseat, armoire etc when bunz are around then accordian fold when done and store away somewhere out of sight! |
