Ruby is a kisser and loves to groom/be groomed. Just in the past week while she licks my face all over she has started digging really lightly on my face... it's not the same way she digs when she's angry, wants to be on the floor, etc. It seems like she's trying to be gentle.
Has anyones bun ever done this to them? Or has anyone with multiple rabbits ever seen them do this to each other? I'd like to know what she's doing!! |

My bunny digs at my feet playfully...I can move my feet out of his way but he just chases my feet and digs some more...its very gentle and different from when he is mad at me....but no never my face |

It's unusual (and nice) that she's a face kisser. I think it's just what they do when they get more into the grooming. Maybe she's trying to smooth out your fur. Anyway, I'm wondering if she's been spayed yet. Sometimes elevated activity like that is due to hormonal changes. Spockie used to love my feet, and get excited more and more so I had to squeal to let him know he was hurting me with excessive digging on my foot or ankle. He would back down immediately. If it hurts, squeal a bit, high pitched. Otherwise, just trim her nails a lot so she doesn't scratch. You can also stop her paws with your hand and say No gently, so she knows to stop at that point. |

She has been spayed for almost a year now so I don't think it would be hormonal changes at this point. I really don't mind that she does it since she's being so gentle - it doesn't hurt at all so I find it really cute actually I was just curious to see if anyone knew why - RP you're right about the grooming part though, that's what I figured it must be |

That's the thing! She's digging so lightly it doesn't leave any marks on my face... it's almost like she's petting me lol! |

Awww, I was hoping someone would have answers! My girl actually does this same thing. Except she lightly digs all over us! It's adorable. And nothing like her brothers when they get their little paws digging into stuff. It's so light. It's almost like she is trying to groom us! |

Very much so - and my girl isn't aggressive at all so I highly doubt this means anything bad! She's such a sweetie. She loves to give little love nips to when she digs but it barely touches our skin and doesn't hurt in the least! |

I'm so jealous of your guys' rabbits. My bunny hasn't groomed me yet. I'm always the one grooming him. |

Ha, no need to be jealous! My girl bun would barely let us touch her for the first 3 months of us having her, much less pets! Now she's one of our most affectionate buns! Don't give up. Time, patience, and LOTS and LOTS of treats and lovins are all they need! |

Yeah, HotGinRun, when I first got Ruby she'd run into her little hidey house whenever anyone went near here. Now I've got the gentle digging, the love nips like Tanlovers girl, and I get kisses until her tongue is dry. Give it time (and all the attention to her in the world ) |
