I feel awful right now. I went away for the weekend and when I came back my mom mentioned that the bunnies had been chasing and sniffing each others butts. I was like, “Oh brother. They reached puberty.” I went out and fed them this morning and they seemed fine and I decided I would put them out in the outdoor pen while I was cleaning and when I put them back in the cage I will see if they start chasing and then separate them. I really didn’t want to break their bond if I didn’t have too. When I finished cleaning I went outside to put the bunnies back in their cage and my Mom said she heard a bang and saw the bunnies chasing each other in the pen. I run and look into the pen and found fur EVERYWHERE! Of coarse I freaked out! They were both huddling on opposite ends of the pen huddling. I looked at both of the bunnies and didn’t see any scrapes but I separated them. Pip is now on the top half of the condo and Pepper is on the bottom. When I put them back they both huddled in a corner and I was so worried! I gave them some cilantro and they ate it so I think they are just scared. I just feel like it is my fault! I should have separated them right when my mom told me about them chasing. I feel bad.

On a happier note, the shelter has ROOM! Not sure when they will go back but I am so happy! I like fostering but I feel like at this point in time its not the best time for me. I am sure they will find a good home soon!

When I went and check on them they both had not moved. They had eaten all of their veggies though. I wonder if they are a little sad/scared because they are alone. They have never been separated before! I feel so bad!

yes, Chipmunk and Hazel did that and thats why they got seperated, and now its a wait and try to bond them again time. I did the same thing I split their condo into top and bottom.

Yeah. Just found out we will be dropping them off with someone on Thur. and she will take them to the shelter and hopefully will get fixed soon. I hope they bond again!

That was bound to happen, so don’t feel bad. **crossing my fingers they get adopted together**

I know you’re going to be a great asset to a rescue when the time is right and you have your own place! Thank you for taking these buns on when they needed someone!

So I have a little update. Yesterday when I went out to put the bunnies in their carriers to leave I noticed something in Pips ear! It looked like smudged poop or I even though like ear mites. I immediately freaked out and picked him up! It was awful what I found! In their fight yesterday Pepper must have bitten him because Pip now has a hole right through his ear! I was so scarred and mad at my self that I started shaking and rushing around trying to leave on time. It didn’t look infected or anything, just had some dried blood on it. I dropped them off with a very kind girl where they stayed the night last night and should be heading to the shelter around 10am I believe. I think he is ok and I am sure the shelter will look at it and tell the vet when they take them in to be neutered. I just felt so bad I didn’t notice it earlier! I wonder if it was bleeding before!

It’s okay. These things happen sometimes. I would also email the rescue where they are headed and just let them know in advance what happened so they can be sure to check it… and they’ll know to not house them together right now.

Beka: I was planning to! I am secretly hoping that after they are neutered they will think about bonding them back together because they were just too cute! Snuggling, Grooming, I just think maybe once they are neutered they may bond quickly.

Are you going to get updates on the bunnies?

Yes they said I can email them any time! About them being adopted together… There pens are set up next to each other. They will be neutered sometime in October and after that they will try and bond them BUT if someone decides they want one of them before then they will let them be adopted out.
