RAVEN IS NESTING OMG!!!!

Raven is gathering hay and hiding it in her tent!! We had recently found out that Cinnamon was a boy not a girl!! we took her to the vet and she said it was too early to tell!! I am praying its a false pregnancy. but we will take it one day at a time I guess. I am going to post a video of what she is doing so yall can see. any advise would be helpful.

Oh no is she pulling fur? They don’t nest until a week before they are gonna pop, and you’d be able to feel babies. Maybe it’s just a new game?

I dont know she is grabbing hay like sticks and putting inside her tent and under the blankie in there. I am thinking its a false pregnancy! no fur pulling yet.

Oh no Is she spayed? I thought spayed girls don’t have false pregnancies?

No, she was supose to get spayed in october, guess I will just have to be patient and see.

Your vet didn’t recommend an e-spay when he saw her? If she’s nesting and it’s not a false pregnancy, you can expect babies within the next few days.

Also, just to make sure everyone is aware, no baby bunny photos are allowed on the site, even in the case of an accidental litter.

the vet said seh couldn’t feel anything and didnt find anything on the ultrasound. so whe thinks its probobly a false pregnancy, and thats what we are hoping for.

First of all I want to say in no way to I condone breeding as ther are som many beautiful buns that have no homes. Second I love my bunnies with all my heart and are closer to them then my kids. No I am not a horder, yes I have a lot of buns but I also have the room for them and I care for them everyday!!! I know that an e-spay could be done at this point if Raven is carring, but I can not in good conscience take the life of an unborn bun because I was not carefull enough to prevent it. If she does have babies, I will take care og them and find them loving homes as my responsibility, not a rescues!! Please don’t get me wrong I do not judge others on their opinions on this subject, but I should have been more aware of Raven and Cinnamon’s care to prevent this. but any advice is always welcome. thank you all for your understanding.

Bullrider – I hope for everyone’s sake that this is a false pregnancy. And even if not, often first pregnancies at such an early age end with a sad result. I don’t wish that on you or Raven – but do support your choice to not end it. Best of luck, I hope it all works out….

Oh gosh. Rabbits!

bullrider, you’ve been an active member here long enough that I think most can see how much your rabbits mean to you and the family. It seems you feel judged? I’m sorry if so. I think others just expressing genuine concern because it is stressful and it does increase the work. But no doubting your family is up to it, rabbit slaves that you are!

I hope Cinnamons doing okay. False or not she really thinks she’s expecting so give her the space she needs. They can become a bit different in personality for a while during this.

I will, Raven is doing ok she is just relaxing in the corner of her cage. she is still very freindly and wanting pets and treats. but I have made sure everyone in the house knows not to reach into her cage or pick her up. just untill we are more sure what is going on with her. Cinnamon is good too but missing raven. once in a while we let them lay together in a neutral area with me or my wife. Cinnamon hasnt tried to mount her since I discovered he was a boy. but they still groom eachother and cuddle.

I’m sure you’ve researched into it but I just wanted to say that even though she is nesting right now if she doesn’t have kits within a week or so that doesn’t mean she’s had a false pregnancy. A lot of does will start to nest a few weeks in advance if you give them the materials because they get confused because they are hormonal and then they go and destroy it/pee in it and then make another over again and can sometimes repeat the cycle over and over again until the kits are born. Some don’t pull fur until the kits are already born so if she is pregnant and is pulling fur that’s a good sign in terms of the pregnancy. For your sake I hope she’s not preggo but if she is I know you’ll do great! Have to admit that it would be fun to have some baby ravens? I was wondering if Cinnamon still smells Raven? Maybe he can smell a change in her and that is causing the stompy behaviour? Also, do you have any non NIC cages for your buns? The babies would squeeze through the squares no doubt if they happen to come along, just something to think about . Sorry for all the questions, I’m sure you’ve already done tons of research I’m just far too eager haha!

Hi, been off for a couple of days so I am a latecomer to this post. It kind of explains my lack of insight when I replied to your other post about Cinnamon earlier today.

Anyway, I hope it is a false pregnancy and that the separation of your two will end the possibility of an oops litter. From what you mentioned earlier, am I right in thinking you will be having her spayed if she turns out not to be pregnant?

If she does have a litter, I just want to reiterate what Beka said about not posting pix of babies, please. I know you understand, but for any newer members reading this I just want to add that it’s our rule to avoid the impulse to have litters because to bunny slaves, those baby pix are just too darn cute to resist! We found through past experience that the best way to avoid the issue is to just not allow the pix. Believe it or not, is does help as a deterrent.

That said, if you find yourself a new mommy slave after all, bullrider, and need some help or advice about handling an oops litter, we will help as much as we can. Some members are experienced with surprise litters, so can give you information or direct you to research. I know you are not intentionally breeding. If you are familiar already with what to do, just keep us posted on the health of Raven and Cinnamon. We certainly care about your furbabies and family, and I hope it turns out to be just a false alarm.

Thank you all for your support, good news is that Raven has stopped nesting as for now and is pretty much acting like her normal self. My vet still wants to see if we can get a little more weight on her before her spay, and she is scheduled to get spayed just after the the first of october so she has a chance to grow a bit more. We are still letting raven and Cinnamon have monitored interaction to try not to break their bond. both me and my wife sit in a nutral area right next to them. I think its doing them good cause cinnamon has stopped a lot of his pacing and thumping at the door of his nic cage. He is also scheduled to get fixed aproximatly the same time as her. after they are fixed all my buns will be done!! yahooo!!!

Sorry on my earlier post^. I had meant to ask after Raven. Fingers crossed for you it is still a false alarm. That your vet didn’t see anything on ultrasound is promising.

Robyn is correct though, some Does do nest in advance- especially ones that haven’t had a litter before. Maple pulled some fur the day my friend collected her from the past owners. But it settled and we thought false pregnancy. I took home while we arranged where she’d go long term. But within a week, she went back into nesting frenzy and had a litter 48hrs later.
