The previous owner told me that the dominate male does occasionally hump the other male to show them who's boss and  I just think that's weird and I noticed it a couple of times today when the dominate male does try to hump the other one and i feel so bad for the my other rabbit because he runs away and doesn't like it and i just want your opinion on this situation. Does the dominate male really do that just to show them who's boss and is there a way I can stop this

It isn't weird, its totally natural for a bunny.

It's pretty normal, he might feel the need to establish dominance right now since they are in a new environment. That's assuming that they are neutered, do you know?

Females will hump too to assert dominance. It's perfectly normal

Humping is totally normal. As long as they aren't hurting each other, then it is best to let them hump things out. They will get over it once they have worked things out.

In my m/f pairs I have also seen the males hump the females occasionally just for fun. The males are the submissive partner (based on grooming patterns) and the females don't resist, so I'm guessing it is more for nookie purposes even with everybun fixed.

I love how the same behavior can mean different things in a different context. Rabbits are wonderfully complex animals.

In your case it will probably go away as they settle in.

Ya my two boys chipmunk and hazel were like that for the longest time, poor hazel was the submissive and chipmunk the agressor, but now they fight so I am waiting for their hormones tocalm down and try rebonding them.

It's totally normal. My female tries to hump my male all the time, but he's too quick so she just nips him in the bum instead. Occasionally, if she's being very still, he'll sneak up behind and try to hump her for whatever reason. They might not stop, but they'll work it out between them. I do stop my girl when she's being too pushy with my boy because I don't want him getting upset over it.
