  I know that rabbit can over heat in 85*, and i know that rabbits can handle the cold, but not too much. It is average 20* here this time of year, and my house is drafty, and i keep my heat at no more then 60*. Sometimes especailly at bed time, my house is very cold and very draft, seeing as how buunys cage is near 2 windows and the front door i cover his cage at night with a old quilt. Is this good to do? I dont wanna scare him but i dont want him to have a draft on him all the time either.

  sounds like you are doing a good thing by helping keep the draft out, also it is like a cave, i am sure he likes it.

  wow i can’t believe you keep your house at 60.. i would be FREEZING!!! I keep my house at 68-70… eep. Im sure that racks up the heating bills.

  i do that.. and sometiems they are cold, but then he runs laps around the house and they warm right up… but it is not that often that they are cold…….

  yup, 60* and sometimes it goes down to 58*. I currently live in NY but I may be moving to Alaska, wont Bunny love that!!!!

  I am in upstate New York and don’t like to be hot, so I keep my house around 60-65, sometimes I think that’s too cold for Sophie, but you have to remember they’ve got fur coats!!!

  worrying just shows that you are a good mom… He’s probably more than fine and content. I would think that the 60’s would be prefect for bunnies, not to hot and not too cold.

  Bunnies can handle cold much better than heat. Even if it gets down to 55, it’s fine. Just make sure they have warm bedding and things that can help them stay warm. If you feel it will get colder than that, you can get something like snugglesafe. It’s a warm disc thing you put in the microwave, and it stays warm for many hours.   Where are you moving to in Alaska? I was born and raised there. I left soon after I turned 18. But i go back to visit.

  Thanks for that info. not sure yet i am joining the State Troopers there. So Sitka for a few months for the academy, then where ever they send me. Bunny will stay with his Daddy while I am in the academy, but after that which do you feel is less stressful a long flight, or his cage in tacted in Dodge for a few days? I will also check with the vet, but I am scared for him regaurding the move. However he is pretty resiliant and not very skiddish anymore. Anyway I wont know until July if I am going for sure.

  AH! Well Sitka is where my sister lived for years. It’s a pretty little coastal town. At least if you do go, you won’t be dealing with the extreme weather and the whole extreme light and dark issues….yet. I guess that depends on where you end up getting assigned. Up around Fairbanks and farther North is when it gets crazy. How exciting though.
