  …I’m sorry for being such a foul-weather friend lately…
  
  I was just talking to my BF about having to file in small claims court over my recent traffic accidents. I was just at the courthouse today. He got quiet, and I couldn’t understand why, because he’d been 100% behind me even when I thought it was a waste of time, and then he said Flower was dead. He’d just gotten home, and she was positioned funny, like she’d broken something… I’m not there, I don’t know what happened. She was the one I found all limp in the 100dgr+ weather in the backyard. It was because of her that my BF stole her and Thumper from his mother. And Thumper is now happily in an Xpen. Flower was still in a cage becasue her litter box habits were awful. And I felt awful, but I was basically throwing money at them whenever I could, even though I had my own bunnies…they both had vet appointments to get ready for speuters next month…I felt so bad she was still in a cage. How could she fatally injure herself in a cage???
  
  Please think nice thoughts for poor Flower who never got to be a real house bunny…I’m so sorry Flower…

  My BF just called back. He found a black widow spider in her cage. He killed it. Poor Flower didn’t even do it to herself, the poor thing…

  Oh LC, this is so sad. I’m so sorry for you and your boyfriend. What a terrible thing to happen.

  So sorry! Small comfort but at least she was indoors and had more interaction with people. Hope you and the BF can get comfort in the fact you gave that to her. She could have easily been bitten and gone this way in her former home, out in the weather etc. Do you have an idea of how old she was?

  OH NO! i’m so sorry! you and your BF are angels for having rescued them from that situation. i’m so sorry that this happened. that’s very frightening.

  You were worried about Flower for so long. She went naturally, and probably quite fast. You helped her as much as you could, and she will binky over the bridge now.

  i still can’t get over this. i told my husband and he was in shock too. i guess it’s just one of those things, you never know what’s gonna happen in life. how’s your BF, is he alright? i know he hasn’t had them for very long, but still…

  Oh, Lightchick…I’m really really sorry. Oh, this has to be so hard for you. I know you feel guilt because she was in a cage, but that was NOT your fault -you were only doing what was best for her.
  
  And what you said about her getting to be a ‘real’ house bunny…is absolute nonsense. She WAS a real house bunny -Because you and your hubby love her the way you do. Having a house bunny is not about being the perfect mommy or living up to pre-conceived standards; it’s about loving your bunnies and showing them that you love them, nothing more and nothing less.

  Poor Flower. I am sure she knows that she was loved. Sometimes we can only do what we can do. If you two hadn’t taken her and Thumper, who knows what her fate would’ve been?

  I am very late on this as well. I am so sorry. This is something, being bitten by a black widow spider, I would have never even thought about until this happened to flower.
  
  Don’t feel bad either about her life – she was loved and in cared much better by you. From the sounds of it she wouldn’t have been loved and lived as long if she had stayed where she was. You saved her and took care of her and there is nothing you could do about some strange freak type incident.

  Thank you, all of you, so much for your support. BF buried Flower, and planted a flower on her grave, and burned a candle for her.
  
  He brings Thumper up to my place, now, when he comes up for the weekend, so Thumper won’t be all alone. Thumper is a darling, and loves being with us, so although we feel terribly about Flower, the positive side is that Thumper gets even more love and attention.
  
  I can’t tell you how much your support means to us!
