Our beloved Jessica had diarrhea last weekend.  I spoke w/ the vet (on the phone) and he suggested that I give her the belly stuff (probiacin?).  I did for 3 days and then her poops were good.  Some were grape clusters, but nothing like it was.  She also had a few giant ones (like big jelly beans).  However, most of her poops were good.

We often put shredded paper in her bed.  But b/c we were concerned about the poops, we threw out all the paper and started using carefresh only.  Well she’s out now and left another giant poop in the living room.

I’m a totally freaking out or are the occassional giant poops alright?  I’ll take her to the vet if it continues to look bad.

PS  Read the input on the OC bunnies and spay/neuter and litterbox skills.  Planning on hitting the credit card to get Jess done soon.

Are the poops unformed, a little loose and smelly?  These could be cecals.  Any time poops change, it can be a bad sign :-{  She may have to go in.

They have some form…as they aren’t liquidy.  They do smell a great deal.  I’ll call the vet today.

hmm – being really smell usually is a sign of cecals. do they look a bit like a cluster of grapes? if so, they’re cecals, which are normal – but she should be eating them.

Here’s a pic, just so you can see what cecals look like:

If they’re large and unformed I would call the vet for sure and recommend increasing her hay and cutting out all treats.  Loose poops can be the sign of digestive sluggishness from too many carbohydrates and too llittle crude fiber.
