  My bunny Abby what appears to be ear mites, but unfortunately I cannot take her to the vet until I get my paycheck next Monday. I have her in separate rooms from my other bunny Flopsy so she doesn’t catch it, but I’m wondering if there’s anything else I can do for her to make it better/ more manageable/ less painful for her until I can get her into the vet? I tried to clean it up with a q tip with water on it, but everytime I’d get near her, she’d jump and run away.

  Regarding the vet: Can you put down a deposit, or talk to the about billing? Some vets will do that.

  The only thing my vet will do is let you do payment plans, but you have to give them checks with the dates that you want the money to go through on it. I don’t like doing that though because that’s money that comes directly out of my paycheck before I even get to see it.

  Also, as a precaution, you might want to take Flopsy in for ear mite shots also. Its very easy for them to catch it from one another. When one of my bun had ear mites, my other two got the shots too even tho they didnt show signs of ear mites. Just as a prevention measure.

  You’ll want to take her to the vet’s office to be sure it’s mites and to get the proper dosing. If it’s mites, she’ll likely will need kitten advantage. I think mites are fairly contagious, so your vet might recommend treating Flopsy as well. You likely won’t have to bring in both bunnies to get the meds, but you should call the vet and ask.

  Ok thank you very much guys. I’m almost positive it’s mites after all the pictures and research I’ve done on them in the past few days. She scratches it constantly and it’s very brown and crusty on the inside. I feel like such a horrible bunny mommy. I’d take her in right now if I could, but I just simply don’t have the money. I’ll be getting her into the vet asap though.
