SO for about a week now Hazel has been sneezing, so I called my vet and she recommended giving him some baytril .3 ML once a day for a few days to see how he is. if he doesn’t improve to bring him in. Never had to deal with upper respiratory infection before, could his shedding cause sneezing too? or just an infection?

Shedding could cause SOME sneezing if fur got in her nose, but for a week it does sound like it could be a URI. Stickers, my rex, had one. Symptoms beyond the sneezing for her included a little redness to her nose, but no other symptoms. Baytril for 1 week cleared her right up though.

Is it possible your hay is a bit dustier than usual? I wouldn’t automatically jump to the conclusion of infection. Are there any other symptoms like runny nose or eyes? If it’s not cleared up in a week, I suggest you ask your vet to do a nasal culture to check for bacteria.

              he

He had a runny nose, and the other day made like a coughing or hacking noise. since my vet put him on the meds he has stopped sneezing and no more runny nose.

Glad to see Hazel is on the mend

My Harry was sneezing, but I assumed it was hay dust. Then a few days later his eyes began weeping so I took him to the vet, who prescribed antibiotics. Within a day he was looking sooo much better, and now 4 days later he’s stopped sneezing and his eyes are completely dry. Baytril is good stuff!
