So my bun has this stuffed animal bunny that he likes to sleep with and lick. Today he got some pee on it's ear and I threw it in the washer without really thinking and now I dont know if I can give it back to him D:
He likes to lick it so will he get sick from the soap I used to wash it? I havent given it to him yet. I feel kinda bad because he really likes this little stuffed bunny. Is it safe for him or should I go out and buy a new one?

It should be fine provided it was rinsed well.

When I do bunny laundry (blankies, towels and stuffies) I always wash once and then do a second cycle of rinse only, just to make sure all the soap is out. I also use less soap than I do for normal laundry.

Im glad this came up, I have tons of bun laundry to do. Do your buns still like their toys and blankies after washing them? Im aftaid that once the smell is gone, Foo wont like blankie or sheepy anymore.

If you used the same soap you use for your clothes, it's probably fine for a bunny. I'd be more worried about what the stuffed animal is made of. If it has beads or artificial fibers on the inside, it could be harmful if he ever chews it. Just something to keep in mind. My bunnies never chew their stuffed toys, but I know a lot of bunnies will, so you should watch out for that.

@FooFoo, my rabbits will give the blankets a good sniff after washing and then just treat them like normal. My one boy, Tait, has a stuffed Manatee that he's had since he was a baby, and after I wash it, he will roll it around, chinning it for a few minutes, but then he is satisfied and starts cuddling it again

Oh totally-I washed bunny stuffed toys, bunny pillows and bunny blankets before and it's absolutely fine. You don't have soap in your clothing after it's done rinsing so it's fine Especially if you have a frontload washer that only uses like a teaspoon of soap If your worried you could toss it on a rinse cycle once more

I used less soap and did the second cycle of a rinse. It seemed good and less soapy smelling. He likes it a lot more now that it's fluffy again and not coated with bunny spit lol. Felix doesnt chew on that toy but he chews on blankets, so I dont give him them unless he's supervised.
I have tile on his cage floor and I supply him with a few spots of warm blanket to lay on but he seems to like to move them out of the way and just lay on the tile floor anyway lol.

Definitely do a 2nd rinse cycle, then it should be fine. Lots of people use blankets or towels that needs to be washed frequently.

Oh yeah, I wash Chacha's blankets every 2 weeks and she is fine. She does binkies and flops in the blankets
