I was at Petco a few days ago and the cashier was trying to tell me that romaine lettuce should not be fed too often because it will cause a rabbit to have diarrhea. I have been feeding mine romaine hearts everyday for about a week now. Should I be giving them something else or did the woman not know what the heck she was talking about? I have also been giving them kale and cilantro. Is there a certain type of green that would be best to give like everyday or should I change it up everyday? They are just starting on veggies and i've only introduce these 3 so far. I've not had any issues with diarrhea with any of them so far.

Sounds like you are doing this right. Romaine lettuce is absolutely okay. Bunjamin loves all lettuce (except iceburg-that is one to avoid) and he gets two different types of lettuce a day. When trying new stuff, introduce slowly in small amounts. I think the lady at Petco was probably confusing romaine with iceburg

Romaine should be perfectly fine . I usually have 2-3 different types of "bunny veggies" in the fridge at any given time. Peppy usually gets the same thing for a few days in a row, but when a veggie runs out I try to get something different for some variation.

She was mixing romaine and iceberg - iceberg will give them issues and has no nutrient value. Deep green lettuces like romaine, red leaf, etc are fine.

Thanks everyone! I didn't even ask the woman about veggies and was just buying some bene-bac since my girls are on antibiotics and she was trying to tell me to put it on their greens and then went into detail on what type of veggies to give them. I knew not to give them iceberg but had never heard anything about romaine. Glad I am doing the right thing!

Mine eat almost exclusively romaine because one of them is pretty picky ( and also it comes in large heads and lasts a whole week in the fridge). It's perfectly fine.

Maybe she was thinking of iceberg and got the names mixed up?

im on the same page with Elrohwen and peppy.. Yeti gets a week of romaine (i try to mix in mint but he hates it) picky bugger. then i switch over to a spring mix. with spinach. and thats all Yeti will eat. he wont even look at carrots which i find odd. he enjoys celery but i dont usually keep that in my fridge.. he cant get through a stalk without it going limp and i refuse to eat it. so if i can find small stalks of celery ill grab them otherwise he can live without.

Yeti doesnt seem to have a problem with the week on week off routine he's on. i think your bun(s?) shouldnt have a problem.
